The Cricketers Inn
Very busy and appeared to be very understaffed. Service very slow but staff visible were working as fast as they could. Sunday Roast however was lovely.
Love coming here, such a warm atmosphere. We had a really nice waitress who was welcoming and friendly. The mains were amazing although being a vegetarian I did think they're was a huge lack of choice on the menu for a non meat eater but what I did order was tasty and filling. Had a problem with cold, hard desserts that should of been hot but they were changed immediately and the waitress dealt with it professionally and without quibble.
I can honestly say that I will not be coming back the food and service was great but at the end of the evening I was given the wrong bill (not to my knowledge at the time) which was not my fault and I did not check I just paid. I then received a phone call later on in the evening to say that we were given the wrong bill by mistake I told them I would call the next day to pay the difference of £12. In all I received 25 phone calls chasing me for this amount from the morning through to the evening which made me feel extremely uncomfortable as I had every intention of paying I just could not call back as I was working a double shift I honestly felt like a criminal
The roast dinner was excellent, very busy as it was Sunday, so quite noisy. Service was good.
Really disappointed this time. We were a large party celebrating a special birthday for Sunday lunch.
Our food was lukewarm on arrival and the vegetables quite soggy and was very poor value for money. Meat was very fatty.
The service was struggling but the staff are lovely.
Feels a bit like this place has lost its charm due to squeezing in too many people.
Won’t hurry back.
Food was delicious, we all had the Sunday roast, plenty of veg & meat, could not fault it
£135 for three Sunday lunches with wine was on the steep side. Shame because we would come more regularly if it wasn’t so costly,
Also table next to us with young kids had their I pad so loud it spoiled our ambience at our celebrations. Surprised the staff didn’t say anything to them!
Food was great but the service was lacking. Seemed to get forgotten
Food was absolutely amazing, I had the fish and chips, my friend had the vegan burger. Followed by the trio of citrus desserts which were delicious and the homemade sticky toffee pudding.
A bit too noisy in there, but it was very busy which also meant the service was a lot slower than we would have expected.
On the whole great food, we will always be back in here.
Have never had a bad meal here. Lovely food. Big portions. Live music which was good fun.
Beware large portions! Very good food and great service.
The best Sunday roast I’ve had for ages!
Outstanding food, lovely outlook onto the cricket green, wonderful ambience and lovely waiters and waitresses.
We arrived at the cricketers on time for our booking and sat down just before 8.15. We were finally asked what we wanted to drink then placed our order for food. After nearly one hour twenty minutes we still had had no food. We had not ordered starters and were told that larger tables ahead of us were served before us and maybe we should have thought about pre ordering!!!!
We said that someone should have come to see us offered at least a bread cover or something but no one had. The food arrived at 9.45/50 !
We wanted to order desserts and coffee but it was so long before anyone came to see us after dinner that we just wanted coffee - we gave our order. In the next few minutes we were told there was not enough coffee and we could be offered not nice coffee!!!! What do you mean we asked all we were told was that they only had not nice coffee! We asked for the bill which arrived ! We asked them to take nearly £20 of gratuity of the bill and then paid .
We have been to you many times over the years but felt that the least that could have happened was the manager should have apologised and made a gesture of good will. The service was dreadful and we also felt that the staff just did not care.
The food when it arrived was good although not particularly hot.
Gone downhill absolutely poor service took two hours from sitting down to get mains and starters were only four bowls of soup that took 45 mins to come even had to ask to place our order
Very busy night & we waited an hour & a half for our food. Won’t go there again on a Saturday evening maybe mid week as it’s not so busy
Took my mum and Auntie to lunch for a birthday treat. We all really enjoyed our food and the staff were lovely. Such a warm, cosy pub, it’s one of our favourites!
Very busy on a Sunday so may be a bit slow for some people. Roast dinners quite expensive. Drinks on the dear side for out side the city.
We eat here regularly. Xmas birthdays and just pop in if passing randomly and you are always made welcome
The waiting staff were very good however the service was very slow
We ordered two sirloin steak and a quarter of each was gristle, it was supposed to be quality meat, we were both very disappointed.
The cheesecake desert was dry and bland
I don’t mind paying good money for good food, sadly this was not.
Lovely pub, very welcoming and inviting, good atmosphere. Menu varied, suitable for quite a few dietary requirements. The service and staff are great.
Definitely will return and recommend.
I came a few years ago and had the best experience and have been telling everyone about it, I finally got to come back on Valentine’s Day after talking to my partner about it for ages. I was so disappointed, the food ‘award winning’ fish and chips was bland and the batter was soggy. The service was shocking, we waited 40 minutes for desserts and had to ask twice for them, I had to ask for the bill and then she left it with us for a further 20 mins I finally walked up to get with the money and asked for change and she proceeded to serve another customer whilst we waited again for our change.
The waiter was fantastic, he was a large man with a big black beard. Really nice.
We enjoyed our Valentine’s Day meal here but I thought they could have more a little more effort to decorate the tables etc. Even a small red rose on each table and maybe some red napkins.
The waiter was very polite and tended quickly and efficiently to our orders. Other waiting staff were efficient also. Didn’t wait too long for food and was nice when arrived 7/10.
The room was too dark while dining. Other than that would eat here again but not for a special occasion.
Excellent! Just the job for entertaining friends who you don't get to see enough of!!!!
Really good as ever. Service was a touch slow but we were in no hurry
Hair found on poached egg but immediately sorted with new meal and sincere apology. 2 yapping dogs under the next table were irritating though. Excellent service and the food (hair aside!) was lovely.
Despite it being very busy and noisy we had very good and friendly service.
The menu was dreadful, with no respect for the diner, only “using up leftovers “ or burgers. Only one good dish on the menu. This is a chain of restaurants that should be producing outstanding food
Have been here a number of times and it's been much better. The service was really slow, the food was good - not great as it's been before. Two of us ordered the sirloin beef and two ordered roast beef. No difference in the meat - just the price. Very disappointed.
The waiter went over and above to be nice - so he deserves a pat on the back. He didnt get a tip though because there was already a 12.5% service charge added. Without that he might have got more!
A bit disappointed to be honest and wont be going back for a while.
Shame as it is a sentimental place for us.
We had a lovely time, lovely food and staff very attentive, would definitely go back again.
Usual welcoming, knowledgeable staff who are friendly & accommodating.
Chairs are rickety & uncomfortable.
Superb selection of drinks.
Great choice of food. Good to see daily menu.
We had roast beef. It was ok. Potatoes were luke warm & meat was hard to chew.
Dessert was absolutely lovely. Decent portions too.
Overall I would recommend but maybe not a roast in latter part of day.
Enjoyable lunch with family. Good good, tasty and well presented. Very busy but waiting staff were very efficient.
A wonderful setting. The food was tasty and presented to a high quality
Really friendly staff, good food and the very best choice of gins.
Felt it was good food ,good choices
Good service. Every thing was good
But is now not as good value . So many are offering a very competitive fixed price menu. Pricing seems so much than your others in chain. We ate a Chaser which was less money
Great food, staff were attentive timely, and friendly.
Great welcoming atmosphere with a candle lit dinner, bonus points for free on site parking with plenty room and same day booking availability!
Had a lovely visit. The first of the new year. Food was great and service efficient, friendly and quick.
Great food and atmosphere. Fantastic time had by all!
Very nice all round, couldn’t have asked for more
We've always found the food a little bit and miss at The Cricketers and this time's experience was just the same. All of the starters were good, unfortunately for the mains it was somewhat different - the Beef stew was excellent however my husband's peri-peri chicken burger was very very dry as was my friend's partners steakburger! We didn't have any deserts, just coffees. The service was fine, although the waitress did remove the wine glasses from the table without asking and then had to bring some more glasses back when ordered out wine!
