The Drapers Arms
Very much a pub we are as welcoming to one person sitting with a beer and a paper as to a group having a special meal. In an informal and relaxing atmosphere we nonetheless take our food, drink and service seriously. Well chosen and carefully tended ales (Harveys Sussex and two on rotation) and wines (18 available by the glass) add to a range of authentic lagers, spirits and soft drinks.
Our food is all freshly prepared and our menu changes every day and across the seasons. With a focus on being enjoyable, honest and seasonal we are also affordable - we were very pleased in our first year to receive a 'Bib Gourmand' by Michelin for 'Good food at affordable prices'.
Our upstairs dining room can accommodate weddings, christenings and parties and is among the finest private hire options in London.
Whole Roast Chicken
roast potatoes, carrots, greens & bread sauce
fennel, cockles & crispy pig's skin
bacon, bone marrow croutons & frisee
Nice location, good atmosphere.
Staff were friendly and helpful. I would definitely recommend.
One of my favourite pubs, great food and wine and always buzzing.
Very, very good local pub. Seasonal, perfectly cooked food and good wine list. Friendly staff.
Very good dining option for 'Gastro' pub food. Nice surroundings and great service. Wonderful wine list and a generally strongly recommended.
We had a lovely time, the food was good, service excellent and we will be back. We all had roast beef which was good but it comes in a piece which was impossible to carve as there was no sharp knife. Next time we will take our own.
Nice but very loud
Ordered our food for 4 people and the starters arrived quickly enough and were very good
Then came the problem , we had ordered the beef to share and about 1 hour after ordering it and after asking about it twice we were eventually told that the chef forget to cook it.
Quite a strange oversight. We were eventually offered discounted drinks and a quick burger as we had time restraints but it was too little to late unfortunately
Disappointing, as the menu was superb and the starters were excellent
I’m still dreaming about that burger...
The best shared steak in islington and best value. £25 cheaper and 30% bigger than the coach in Farringdon! Great service too count myself lucky to live nearby
Again the food was excellent, but this was marred by the excessive noise in the dining room. This was caused by large and noisy groups of diners and the absence of any noise dampening. This made having a conversation with my fellow diners extremely difficult.
Great for a school-night gathering with friends, quiet, cozy gastro-pub.
A lovely Sunday roast at drapers, food was delicious and all served immaculately, highly recommend the lamb! The staff were amazing despite it being incredibly busy, in particular, the host/manager who was really understanding when we were running late!
The slow cooked lamb was out of this world!
Can’t wait to go again.
We had a great lunch but we were rushed to leave we arrived at 1p and was told we needed to give our table back at 2.20p. When asked what the policy was for turning tabled we were told 2 hrs!
The back room is just so loud. Went out for a quiet week night supper and almost left due to noise. Couple of tables of four who were having a jolly time but the acoustics were ao bad it made the room deafening.
Food was excellent as usual - the sharing platters are great. Service quite good. Nice pub, I will keep coming back
Staff were good, some more attentive than others. Really enjoyed the food, great value. Loved the look of the place.
waited half an hour for starters. not scaled to the seating capacity.
Always a great experience dining at the Drapers.
Everything from the staff , ambience to the food and drink is amazing. Our favourite neighbourhood hang
Buena comida, buen servicio y un ambiente acogedor y muy agradable. Excelente relacion calidad precio.
Went there a year ago for a Sunday roast and it was fantastic. Went for Saturday lunch recently and it was pretty poor - Hake came overcooked with some very plain and undercooked boiled potatoes. Lamb suet pie was tasty, but the chips looked like they’d been refried from the evening before. Disappointing.
Great restaurant really lovely food- would recommend
We went for Valentines Day. It was very nice, a good ambience and excellent service. The food was excellent but mine had a lot of butter added to it I think, so everything tasted too rich. Shame, because the cooking and ingredients were great, just everything was too full of fat. My wife’s dinner was better and not so rich. Would go back, but not in a hurry. Rob
Lovey food / service. Bit on the expensive side
Fabulous pub, fabulous food and fabulous staff! It's our local and it has a lovely spacious feel - would recommend to anyone.
Great Sunday evening pub for dinner with pals, pie is always a winner
Best roast in London. Amazing food, and very friendly relaxed service
Great place tbh! Lovely ambience, lovely food, great service - not much more I can say really. We used to come here lots when we lived closer so was nice to visit an old haunt - and it’s still as good as ever! Amazed they can keep the service levels up when it’s fully booked, but they do!
We waited for an hour and a half for our main courses to arrive and then sat with dirty empty plates in front of us for over half an hour. Such a shame as this used to be such a great spot but the service is so poor now
The food was very good but quite heavy. The wine and especially the service was very good. The waiter just started 3 days ago and was very attentive. Very very good service throughout the dinner.
Haven't been in a couple of years, and nothing much has changed: still a reliable local pub with friendly service, better than average (and pricier than average) food and wine. Menu is a bit meat-heavy with fewer lighter midweek options. Beer selection could be more craft-oriented and/or feature more local breweries. Treacle tart was, ummm, really not very good unfortunately...
Good roast, would love to see some more veggie options (1 out of 6 mains)
Amazing food and wine along with wonderful service. No better way to spend a Sunday afternoon.
Love this pub. Ideal for a Sunday lunch with friends
Amazing food: starters, roast and desserts. Friendly stuff, buzzy Barnsbury pub.
It's a great place for a convivial evening with friends and family. Buzzing atmosphere, without being too noisy, good food and friendly service.
Love this place! Fun, friendly staff and always delicious food.
Food was great, but it was so noisy! Service was also a bit hit and miss as the same staff seemed to be working the bar and the tables and on this occasion seemed more concerned with the bar. There was a large party in the bar drinking for some time before sitting down for a birthday function so this might have had something to do with it. It wasn't great for a relaxing, enjoyable meal out tbh. Hopefully just a one off.
really great Sunday roast. definitely get the sharing meals.
I had high expectations of Sunday lunch at The Drapers Arm but was disappointed.
We were a group of 5 friends and seated in the upstairs room. Unfortunately the room was dominated by larger grupo
