The Fox and Hounds Restaurant & Bar
Really friendly reception on arrival and we were soon told it was absolutely no problem for the F+H staff to present my wife with a home made birthday cake that we had brought with us. At exactly the right the team brought out the cake and sung Happy Birthday !!! Great fun and so will return at some point
Have not visited for a few years but having decided to come again we found it still a lovely venue.
Prompt service and polite staff and of course great food.
Great service with special attention to the kids. The food was excellent. Very pleased as it was a lovely meal
The usual great experience judging the line between smart restaurant and cozy riders pub perfectly. The staff are spot on too - nothing seems too much trouble.
My third visit and really nice restaurant to meet up with old friends - the service is great as is the food. The menu isn't very large but always a nice choice. My only thing would be that depending where you sit it can be very noisy from other tables and makes it hard to hear what you're friend is trying to tell you.
Great food, me us and specials. Great restaurant atmos!
Nice place, good food, friendly staff, hard to fault. This is our second visit and we will be back.
Perfect place to be on a blustery day. Buzzing atmosphere, warm, cosy, attentive staff. Food great too.
The food was delicious - we both had roast beef cooked to our request - and the waiting staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. We wanted a cocktail after lunch and one of the bar staff came over and personally asked us what we would like. Fab service and food, will be coming back soon!
Myself and my partner, went for dinner. the tension between staff was very obvious, huge table had been there 40 minutes before we was and only received there starter after we had both our starter and main. I had a burger and had to send it back due to it being very stone, almost bone, it was not edible
drinks were good
Whilst our food was good - nice selection, tasty etc - the service was so poor that I would not return. On complaining the manager was very apologetic and deducted a LARGE percentage from our bill - lots more than a token gesture - which I am grateful for - but I’d rather have had a great experience and paid full price. This used to be a regular haunt of mine years back when I worked nearby and having just moved to work in the area again I had high hopes this would be our ‘go-to place. Not at the moment anyway. I may give a try in the spring and see if things have improved.
Although my daughter liked her mains, mine tasted of roast potatoes that had been cooked firstly about 5 days previously and the greens were very chewy ( not at all al dente! I would say). I would not like to be too critical however as my wife enjoyed her starter. Her mains (pizza) we took mostly home and sorry to say I would not give top marks. Sorry to be critical as I know how difficult it is to run a restaurant but I do think the chef should think a bit more about his customers who pay quite a lot of money for a so-say top quality gastronomic restaurant.
Great service on A very busy day excellent food would highly recommend the fox and hounds
Food was mediocre. 2 of our party had sea bass, they found it dry, boney and thin.
The other 2 had fish and chips which was ok. Although most people would prefer it without skin.
All the starters were fine.
Great to see Turkey as a roast option this time of year. However, it would have been good to see Christmas pudding as a dessert option. I then asked if I could have custard with the sticky toffee pudding dessert I went for, and was told I could only have it with ice cream. Other than that a good experience
We had a fabulous lunch and our waiters were fabulous, great service and food
Friendly restaurant, lovely food and nice atmosphere. Today was busy however and 3 of our tables orders seemed to have been forgotten . Was lovely when it came though and I am visiting twice this week.
Went for brothers 40th birthday, place is really nice, staff were really friendly, however it took a great amount of time to be served drinks and food, the place wasn’t busy. Food is overpriced for what it is. Brother burger wasn’t cooked properly and came out pink, then brownie was given with a long black hair in it so completely put us off of ordering. Service charge was still added on when we were told it wouldn’t be. Very disappointing meal and expensive
I took my husband and four friends. The young mans lookinknafter our time able was excellent and made our lunch so welcoming and enjoyable . I have been many times for little get sandwich lunch. My friends and others will be back.
Excellent pub with a separate restaurant right at the gates of Windsor great park. superb service and quality food and drinks, excellent service all makes for a great night out
Tiger prawns average and portion is not filling (even though I had a main size). Most annoying was the waiter with a far too keen attitude and a very deep, loud voice. No need to tickle kids at the table or to constantly call them princesses. Take a step back and relax around people. He overall was just too much with poor jokes.
We met some friends for a Saturday night dinner. It was a treat as after a busy day I didn’t have to cook. I could put on some comfy clothes and have a lovely evening and enjoy some good quality food. I am a vegetarian and am always pleased with the choices available. I shared the Camembert with my partner. It was tasty but a little too garlicky for me. Two people ordered the Monk fish curry and devoured it. I ordered the homemade mozzarella and tomato pasta which was delicious. My friend ordered the super salad with chicken and found it very filling. We could manage a dessert but did have coffees. The service was well timed and attentive. I will be returning to try a pizza from the oven as I haven’t managed to have one of these yet
We drink in the bar or garden often, but have not visited the restaurant for 25 years. It was really nice, the staff were attentive, the food delicious and the ambience quiet even as it filled up on a Sunday lunchtime. We had it in our heads that it would be expensive, but it really wasn't. We will definitely eat there again and would recommend anyone to try it.
This is a beautiful looking pub, and I would love to be able to endorse it, but our meal this weekend was mediocre and chaotic. Our party of six was greeted and seated by an effusive maitre d’ who flattered the women in the group almost to the point of embarrassment. Once seated we were given menus and the specials were briefly outlined by our waiter. Four of us chose the sea bass, then confusion reigned over what it was served with. We were given lots of options and made our choices only to be told shortly after that the fish was off. The same happened with the risotto, a number of other dishes we ordered, and our chosen bottle of wine. Eventually we all found food and drink choices that could be delivered and the starters were brought. Mine was delicious. My third choice main, a prawn curry, was satisfactory but uninspiring, as was the vegan curry my husband ordered. Two other members of the party ended up with salmon fillets - one came with a small pile of chips, the other with a square of dauphinois potatoes. Neither dish came with anything else on the plate - no vegetables, garnish, or other accompaniments. The dishes were unbalanced and looked unfinished. For the price, the meal was a disappointment.
At the end of our meal We felt we were rushed out of the restaurant
I would recommend it for the location and ambiance but was disappointed with the Sunday lunch. The portion size was small with very few vegetables and potatoes. In fact, there was one small floret of broccoli on my plate!
Lovely food again at the Fox, not the cheapest but the quality is very good!
We booked a late lunch at 5pm on Sunday, by the time we arrived items from the menu had run out (chicken roast, deserts). Quiet expensive meal so would expect all options being available even if they were busy. Service is always good at the Fox & Hounds... just felt a little let down on the menu 😕
We met with friends for a late Sunday lunch. The restaurant was very busy but the staff were attentive and courteous towards us As we were late for lunch (3:30 pm) a few of our choices for mains and desserts were not available. Staff empathised and did make the effort to suggest alternatives. We had a lovely lunch and the service was good too with chatty staff serving us
My partners birthday.
First course nice main meal took forever to arrive very small portions very average
Just like usual - warm welcome, lovely staff and a real atmosphere. The food is great and the beer served perfectly. Wouldn’t change a thing 😊
Relaxed and easy going environment for catching up with friends
Have not been here for many years but was still a lovely place to meet family for a lunch
Poor service, not enough staff, waited on entry for a very long time without any acknowledgement, food was ok but sauces asked for never arrived, the wine had to be re-ordered after our meal had finished, more gravy needed on the roast but no staff available to ask for this, overall a disappointing Sunday roast
Disappointing experience with very poor staff attention. Food left on tables, our table was not ready and lots of silly mistakes by staff too rushed (lipstick on glass, long hair found in glass etc). Lovely location shame it didn’t live up to expectations.
Amazing service and food
Nice posh pub grub
We had a lovely meal here and the waiters were so kind and attentive. One of the orders however was wrong twice when initially ordered. It seemed the person taking the order was not listening properly and when it was returned it came back only slightly different but not what was initially asked for. The food was lovely however the person who ordered this particular dish then had to pick out everything they asked not to put in which was just a bit of a pain. Otherwise we had a lovely time and everyone was very friendly. Just need a little more attention to the initial order. Thank you
We went on a sunday afternoon and it meant our roast dinners were stone cold. We didn't get drinks until after our food arrived and there were flies around our table. I have been a lot historically, but was disappointed how run down, scruffy and generally no longer a great pub grub. Shame as we did say our food was cold but there was no "sorry" or offer to change. To be quite honest I probably wouldn't go again. Maybe sunday afternoon is a bad day to go.
