The Grill on the Alley - Westlake Village
14oz. USDA filet served with grilled broccoli
The food and the service were excellent. Before we even ordered, we had some of their delicious bread! I could have eaten the whole loaf. The four of us all ordered different dishes and they were all very good. My scallops were very nicely prepared. The mixed green salad I had to start was fine, but nothing out of the ordinary. The dessert we ordered was apple/berry cobbler which was amazing, but enough to feed all four of us. We even took some home. Our server was knowledgeable and friendly. It is definitely expensive and probably we would only eat for a special occasion. Also, it is quite noisy so keep that in mind. If you're expecting a quiet place - this isn't it.
We had steak and salad and the steak was cooked to perfection.
Our waiter David was exceptional and very personal and we received the best
The Grill was great this weekend. Food quality, portions, service everything. We split a ribeye which was cooked perfectly. Needed this by the way as we didn’t have the best experience during the holiday season. That trip was very mediocre so big thumbs up.
Great experience food is always great!! Would recommend as they had live music in their bar area as well.
We dined for the first time here and will be back. The food, service and ambiance is outstanding.
Food is average. Don’t go for the service - it’s just average too. Overall, average food/service at an above average price.
Lovely dinner.....the bar music was just slightly too loud in the seating portion of the restaurant... Otherwise, wonderful!
Wonderful service. Thank you for taking such good care of us.
Fantastic service. Attention paid to all details.
Amazing as always. Frequent the Beverly Hills location as well. Both are superb in every way. i love their steaks and get the NY steak and occasionally the ribeye. Spinach artichoke appetizer is superb as is the tuna sashimi. Cesars salad is delicious. Also try the chicken pot pie. Its amazing. Tracy is the manager at Westlake location. She is the best.
Food was very mediocre and service was so slow. I know they are under new management and ownership so maybe they are working out some kinks.
This was my first visit to the restaurant. it was much larger then than what iI expected from viewing their website. The had live music, which is a nice touch! The service was great, my New York Strip steak was tasty and juicy! Only hitch which wasn't a big deal the server forgot to ask me how I wanted the steak cooked, iI sent it back but didn't have to wait long. My friend had the salmon and really enjoyed the spinach and mushroom accompaniment. The salmon was good too. They had a special dessert for Valentine's Day, beautiful looking and delicious. Teh Manhattan was tasty too!
Overall a great meal!
Wonderful service and lovely food! Live music was awesome
I don't know if the waiter was new, but there wasn't much personality. He presented the bill and came back and said your card won't go through, and just walked away. This was a business meeting and left a bit of embarrassment. It turned out it was the restaurant's problem, not the card.
Tate is always wonderful. We love when we have him serving us.
We had dinner on a Saturday night, 7pm I think, for my husband's birthday. We haven't been here for dinner for a couple years. Have always been very pleased with lunch and happy hours.
Yes, the noise level was"energetic" -- loud. Not necessarily a bad thing -- make sure you get a booth so it's easier to talk.
Service level was hectic, and our rib eyes were not cooked properly to order. Waitperson was professional, simply stretched and nearly running to keep up. My husband's Manhattan and my Belvedere Martini were excellent.
Our Waiter was “ Amazing” So attentive , professional and engaging !!! We took our time enjoying the ambience.
What happened to The Grill that we used to enjoy? Good service, excellent food and a feeling of being taken of. Not anymore! There is a new Canadian owner setting downhill policy.
My husband did enjoy the very tender double pork chop. The presentation was poor with the French fries sloppily thrown on the plate next to the steamed broccoli. The kicker here is that our server refused to substitute the creamed spinach which was always available if one preferred it to broccoli. The cost would be $9.00 for creamed spinach! We were told that the management
did not want to “give away” the spinach (or any other vegetable)anymore as a substitute!
My scallops won the prize. I asked for the scallops to be cooked through, with sauce on the side. The dished arrived with sauce all over the scallops. We waited for server to return to explain the issue. Could not locate her so had to flag down another server to assist. The new plate arrived with three of the four cooked OK. Note- it comes with the “new menu” sauce of tomatoes and garlic. I asked for the original beurre blanc on the side and was told I could have a new version of that on the side. The roasted potatoes were steamed and truly gross on the plate. The asparagus was seasoned with some sort of seasoned salt which was not good. The potatoes were inedible & I removed them from my plate immediately. We could not find our server again.
Finally found her and she replied, “ Oh,these don’t look very good! We will take them back”. I put the uncooked scallops on that bread plate with the awful potatoes. She said that they would RECOOK my scallop & show it all to a manager. She offered me a baked potato “no charge”. No offering of another drink while waiting for entree again.
No manager came by to apologize. We asked for the check which had no adjustment. I then called a manager & told my story. She apologized & removed my entree from check.
We just canceled our Valentine’s reservation! We were regulars, but no more!
A perfect dinner experience (service, food, atmosphere, ambiance)

I placed the reservation for a birthday and nothing was offered.
New ownership. Major step forward
The food is only surpassed by the service and the caring of the employees, all the employees.
Hello Michael, Thank you so very much for the kind words! We are very happy that you enjoyed your experience with us. We are very lucky and proud to have the team that we do! Please come back and enjoy a drink on us. Warmest, Tracy Brister 310-702-6101 mobile
We returned to The Grill on the Alley last night, 2/22/2020, for another try. What a difference! Everything, including the service was spectacular. Manager Tracy, could not have been more apologetic for our previous, terrible experience, and she made sure everything was perfect for us. Definitely the sign of a great restaurant, with great management! We’ll be back again.
We were so disappointed this time! We had a 7:00 reservation on Saturday 1/25, and the restaurant was not particularly busy. We have been to this restaurant many times, and were eager to share a wonderful dining experience with our friends, that had never been before.
Once we placed our drink orders, we waited at least 30 minutes before we received them. After more waiting, we asked our bus boy if we could please have some bread, and to please send our waiter over, so we could place our order. We finally received our dinner at 8:15. While the food was tasty, my steak was over done (I was too hungry to send it back), and not everyone's food was hot. We are used to stellar service at this restaurant, certainly hope it was just an off night, and not the new norm.
Hi There, Thank you so much for the kind words! We are also grateful for the opportunity to have you back in the restaurant and glad you had a wonderful experience. We look forward to seeing you again in the near future. Warmest, Tracy Brister
We sat outside by the fire pit. The crab cake as a starter was delicious. The cocktails are excellent- the Flawless is our favorite. For main entrees, the Dover sole and the Salmon were absolute delicacies. Service is very good as usual.
Been here many times. Excellent in every way. Recommend the NY steak. One of my favorite cuts of meat and they do an excellent job each time. I have also been to the one in Beverly Hills many times and highly recommend both. Equally excellent.
Hello, Thank, you so much for taking the time to let us know about your experience! We are elated that your NY steak is prepared just the way you like it each time you dine with us. Please introduce yourself on your next visit if you would! Warmest, Tracy Brister 805-418-1760 restaurant 310-702-6101 mobile
Perfect night great food great service !
Came for a special occasion. Ordered a NY sirloin and rib eye. Poor quality meat. Had to send one back to be cooked to proper temperature. Served with limp overcooked broccoli and potatoes. Nice waitress. Expensive. Not worth it.
I frequent Grill on the Alley, Westlake. Each time I dine there, I am greeted kindly and most of the time they know me by name. My husband and I have dined there since they opened years ago. Traci, the GM is by far the best GM they have had. My experience is always seamless and enjoyable.
Beautiful restaurant, polite servers and great steak. Also, the mash potatoes and grilled asparagus are delicious.
Steak was good. Salad, soup and dessert were mediocre. Not worth the price in my estimation.
The bar area is very noisy no matter how many people is in it. Just poor acoustics. The food is really good, but super overpriced even on happy hour.
The last two visits, the service was not what I have come to expect from The Grill on the Alley. Not sure what happened the last few months.
We ordered steaks and both were gooded as ordered. The quality of the steaks was very good. It is nice that the dinners also include a vegetable and a potatoe. Our service was excellent.
Great food, service and atmosphere for New Year’s Eve. My wife and I go there every year and have never been disappointed..
Food was delicious and our server, Meghan, completed an enjoyable evening.
Everything was excellent- professional and friendly staff makes it so enjiyable
One of our local favorites for "fine dining". Very consistent, excellent service, valet parking..... They are always willing to accommodate any special requests.
This is our go to restaurant in Westlake Village. Whether for a special occasion with great steak and nice atmosphere to a casual meal.
I’ve been here multiple times and I’ve seen online that some of the reviews have not bee as positive as I’ve experienced. Every time the food has been great as well as the service. Michelle was wonderful last night in helping have a wonderful night with the fam. Hugely recommend the pork loin chip medium rare. It has a really nice but light sear that gives it a light char flavor and crisp and the meat and fat is just delicious.
