Fresh shrimp lightly dusted and served with homemade cocktail sauce
8 oz. hand-cut filet mignon grilled and finished with a rosemary demi-glace
Pan-seared chicken breast topped with prosciutto and mozzarella cheese served over a bed of pasta and finished with a marsala wine sauce
Hilltop is a upscale, not corporate restaurant. Angelo is one of the friendliest servers we've had.
Overall happy with our visit. The only negative was the chicken Sergio. It was dry and over cooked, with too much marsala sauce in the plate.
the rack of lamb was delicious and the service was very good.
This is a amazing awesome restaurant
They have the best escargot an bread. And every thing is so delicious. This is my favorite restaurant.
Thank you so much ChrisW. We absolutely love to hear such wonderful feedback and sincerely appreciate your visit as well. Warm wishes, Stacey Martorano Manager/Event Coordinator
Some of the best prime rib I've ever had, my wife loved the Chilean sea bass.
Seated quickly, that was great. Waiter was terrible. Slow coming for drink order, continued throughout meal. The only food that the chef concentrated on were the appetizers. $60 per person and they did not even serve real mashed potatoes, awful. The she crab soup was too salty and the main course was cold. No bread was offered to us by our waiter ... however that was hit or miss because we noticed bread at a few tables. Deserts were prepackaged. The Hilltop should have done better. We have eaten some great meals here after tonight we're not going back. The quality of food is poor and the service is terrible. I asked to speak to a manager, waited 15 minutes for that to happen... never came out. Total disappointment. Who serves instant potatoes anymore if ever. Was also never asked if we wanted more wine or even a refill of tea
The service and food was AMAZING. We celebrated Valentine's there and boy was my hubby impressed.
Hi MaryD! I want to thank you so much for visiting us on Valentine's Day. We greatly appreciate your kind words and 5 Star Review. So glad your husband was impressed...we look forward to your next visit! Warm wishes, Stacey Martorano Manager/Event Coordinator
Seated in a room with stone floors and one of the other tables didn’t quite understand the purpose of this restaurant. Had to order more than one wine off the list because they didn’t have our selection. Waiter was pleasant enough, but for this level of restaurant, his skill set was not up to par. Turned what was supposed to be a special evening into a very mediocre experience.
The Hilltop is the best place I have found to have a wonderful meal.
The ambiance is Southern Plantation. Our Waiter Antonio is the best! It is a fine dinning atmosphere with the best Prime rib in Jacksonville ! Our meal was a 14oz. prime rib. It started with a wonderful salad and included 2 sides of which I chose The baked potato and grilled zucchini. Wonder piano playing to set the quiet relaxing mood. all of this for $27.95! I will now be a regular customer!
Hilltop is known primarily for weddings and other large parties. The actual restaurant is quite small but has a beautiful pond/garden view. The menu is not large, but has something for everyone. We had prime rib, chicken piccata and seafood New Orleans and all were perfectly prepared and delicious. The service was friendly and attentive without being pushy. We will definitely return.
Perfect date night restaurant.
The food is delicious.
The staff is pleasant and helpful.
Piano playing in the background instead of blaring music.
Food and service were great!!
I have lived in this area on and off since 1972 and failed to have dined at the Hilltop until this past Thursday evening. Why, is a mystery to me. I'm sure there are many reasons for choosing where to dine but if your choice is for reasons that go beyond being hungry consider our experience at Hilltop. The restaurant is located actually on a hill and beyond the lights and traffic of the city. The building is similar to the architecture you would find in Charleston or Savannah both inside and out. Our waiter Angelo was skilled and seasoned in knowing the needs of his customer as well as long practiced waiter/waitress etiquette. It had been so long since I had been treated to this kind of service I didn't think it existed any longer. How refreshing that he knew and through his years of service remained true to the art. It is unfortunate that so few would appreciate this level of service it is truly high cuisine at a moderate price.
Good food great service
The fly in the soup, so to speak, was the noise level. The acustics are horrible! I found it very hard to carry on a conversation. To be fair I must add that I wear hearing aids that amplify background noises.
New Years Eve. Service was slow. Our waiter was not attentive to us however others came to check on us. Enjoyed the piano.
Great Christmas experience. Unrushed, friendly, delicious, antebellum atmosphere.
The meal was exceptional. Service was great. It just takes quite awhile for the orders to come out-- allow plenty of time.
This restaurant was a unique surprise. Tucked away in the trees up a hill, it has an impressive entryway. Old, historic appearance of the building was intriguing. Similar look and feel as the Haunted Mansion. Prices were reasonable for a quality dinner. Great business meetings or romantic date night. I will definitely come back!
We had one of the last seating times and they were out of food, clean dishes, etc. Not a very good experience for our family Thanksgiving. Overpriced!
My wife and I were celebrating our 8 year wedding anniversary and decided to go here. Due to a shortage of open restaurants because our anniversary fell on Thanksgiving day, The Hilltop was 1 of 4 that was open for dinner. We were expecting a Dinner Service rather than an open Buffet and paid $35 per for less than mediocre Thanksgiving food. Our server never introduced herself properly so I could not tell you what her name was. The rest of the staff (the guy who was carving prime rib, the fella who was preparing omelets, the woman who was greeting at the door and managing the seating, the bar staff, everyone) looked as though they were out of prison on parole or probation and did not appear to be happy or inviting or appreciative that their guests chose to spend their holiday at The Hilltop! The atmosphere was a very poor attempt to have the look and feel of “Old Victorian”. You could see on the windows everywhere, especially near the ceiling, white paint as it looked very sloppy. Our table was wobbly along with our chairs, so annoying. I tried to make the best of it by trying to distract my wife with small talk and stories from our past but I could totally tell my wife was very disappointed with everything and I swear we aren’t very hard to please or impress. This definitely was not what we expected and it surely wasn’t the experience we wanted to have to remember. We should have made our reservations at Mortons, it would have been more to our expectations for sure. Epic failure to the ownership and staff at The Hilltop! As we were leaving, I turned to look at the venue from the overcrowded, overgrown, un-maintained parking lot. The outside appeared just as disappointing as the inside. I cannot imagine anyone wanting to be married here, this wouldn’t even be my last choice. Lipstick on a pig...
Booked at the very earliest time possible so that my family and I were ensured the reservation. Have been here so many times before and loved it. This time we were seated in the “garden room,” with sun blaring in our faces. So bad I wished I had brought my sunglasses. A couple next to us did in fact wear their sunglasses the whole time. This room should either not be used for seating or they should consider a simple solution - placing blinds in the windows. When I mentioned something about the table, I was told they had no other tables available, even though I walked by quite a few empty tables that were not occupied at all during our 2+ hours there. My elderly dad who has difficulty walking made his way all the way across the restaurant only to find they had run out of dinner plates and had to wait for them to be restocked :/ Then, we had to wait 30 minutes after requesting the check, and they never got their system running. They wrote down my husband’s card information on a piece of paper. They clearly were not prepared for the number of reservations they accepted. This used to be a top notch venue. Sadly, I have no desire to return.
Thanksgiving buffet. Very good! A little loud in the grand ball room but it was sold out so that is to be expected. Great pricing and food selection was awesome. Awesome service too!
A very nice place with good food, better at times other than a holiday. The thanksgiving meal was good except the dressing was dry and only barley warm. The service is always top notch.
Great food as always. And, fantastic wait crew. Another enjoyable and delicious holiday meal at the Hilltop!
Angelo, our waiter, attended to our every need. He was attentive, responsive and amazing. We celebrated our 25th Wedding Anniversary at The Hilltop where we held our wedding reception. It was wonderful. We were joined by family and best friends for a night that we will always remember.
We highly recommend The Hilltop for the quality and selection of food, the ambiance but most importantly, for the way we are treated each and every time we visit. The staff is amazing and we have such a high respect for the owner, Chad. Thank you for making our anniversary evening special.
Escargot, wine an bread were amazing as always . We had the chicken Sergio, which we love an order often, was also amazing. We really enjoy the piano man, he plays beautifully. It's such a nice, relaxing cozy, an elegant place . We love it.
If you go after 9pm you will be the only one dining. Small bar had about 4 people. Food was not the best. Steak was tough not tender, baked potato was over cooked or probably had been sitting out and was reheated. Bread was hard as a rock. Grilled zucchini was good though. Ambiance was nice and could really be a good place to eat and enjoy a meal if they made a few changes. Staff was very friendly and attentive.
We really enjoyed our evening. The food was great although we felt the crab cakes lacked ample crabmeat. The seafood combo was excellent and the side dishes were very good and flavorful. The salad was a full size and very fresh. Our waiter was great and accommodating and the place has lots of charm. We both felt it was plenty for the price and we want to go back and try some of the other dishes that looked really good.
The perfect place to celebrate our anniversary.
Had escargot an bread an chardonnay. Was all so delicious as always. The piano man is always fabulous. We love it there.
We usually go on Friday, but decided to go Thursday this week. We had the escargot, as always, and it was so delicious. We love the bread. We got there for happy hour and house wine, chardonnay, is $3.50, an delicious. We had the chicken Sergio. It was amazing. For dessert I had a bananas foster martini. It was all so delicious. I highly recommend this restaurant. It has amazing delicious food, elegant ambiance and the whole staff is nice, and wonderful. An very helpful.

This restaurant is amazing. The service and food was outstanding. And the blackberry cobbler is best I have ever had!
The lamb was phenomenal. The filet mignon was a little dry.
Escargot was amazing. Christi bartender was awesome an one of the owners, Chad. They are all nice an awesome. Soo is the fpod an drinks. They have a great happy hour too.
Place was quaint. Didn't have many customers for a Friday night. Food was just average and was only warm when brought to our table. For the price $135, I expected better service and better food. I've had better steaks at the chain restaurants. It was my 1st visit and my last.
Always a great dinner and experience. My go to local date place.
We had the escargot as usual. It is so delicious. The best escargot I've ever had. We got there in time for happy hour, the $3 house chardonnay. Is delicious. Christy the bartender is always awesome..
