Good effort by the wait staff, inadequate support from the cooks. Unfortunately, this has usually been my experience here in recent years. It's too bad: it's a wonderful building and once had great food.
Sat in dining room during a cold winter evening during COVID and our party of 4 were the only ones. So, felt safe and protected. Food was ok. We ordered a salmon special and the fish was very over done/very dry despite a conversation with the waiter in which the preference for moist fish was clear. Shepherds pie and lamb stew were decent as was the fish-n-chips. Prices seemed high for what we received but times are tough. Would not return
Enjoyed it. Christopher and staff were terrific. Food was great as always. Most authentic Irish Pub/restaurant in DC area.
Great food, service and very hospitable. First time there and we will definitely go back.
Decente food, great service, good beers, nuff said.
The 'deck' is a bit drafty but we were OK and had a really good time! Love the fish & chips - service was super good - would absolutely recommend it to friends. Mary Ann
A bit of a local favourite but it has suffered somewhat in terms of ambience because of Covid restrictions. The Irish breakfast is good value although the sausage and the tomato would be better grilled. Indeed, a better quality sausage would be more desirable.
Great! Just had somewhat slow service and they forgot my original order but it is understandable since it was busy
The food was very good and the place is really warm even the cold weather.
The food is always delicious and the service is great. Considering the COVID requirements, the staff did their best to accommodate us on the outside porch with heaters. We had a great evening.
We love going to The Irish Inn! I took my boyfriend for the first time, as an early St. Patrick’s Day celebration. He loved it!
We had a wonderful time at The Irish Inn. Great service and food. It’s definitely a neighborhood gem!
Three of us had our annual lunch at the Irish Inn, it was our fifth visit. The weather was great so we sat out on the nice porch. The service was seamless, the food was delicious and the price was very reasonable. We had an excellent experience overall. Look for ward to the next visit.
Great food and service. However there should be an alternative to milk for the coffee like almond, coconut etc.
A jewel in the neighborhood. Very quiet place with excellent food!
Met up with a former law student who was a 27 year old clerk for a federal judge. They refused to serve her one glass of wine because her ID was turned the wrong direction. Would not have thought a warning was necessary. But it was. And I think the table next to us also had problems with the server, who was relatively clueless.
Outdoor seating was available
Almost always excellent food, definitely worth a visit for a very enjoyable time. I would give it 5 stars but for the fact that our last dinner, while everyone's entree was excellent, my duck was completely inedible. I can't imagine how the chef let it go out of the kitchen since it was cut in pieces and it would have been obvious that the duck breast was like a solid piece of rubber. I have no idea what kind of knife they cut it with. When I politely complained at the end of the meal, the server simply said "sometimes duck is tougher than chicken". I wasn't expecting a discount (none was offered) but a little bit of an apology would have been nice. I assume this is a one-time slip for an otherwise pleasant place.
Always good food and service. The place is a bit loud, however, so ask for a table in the corner if that is an issue for you.
We really enjoy visiting the Irish Inn at Glen Echo. We're new to the area and they are so welcoming. The pub is noisy and bustling and has a great atmosphere, and is really welcoming to kids. The soups are always great, and the venison fillet with a coffee rub is some of the best venison we've had anywhere. Great kids' menu and so many good beers on tap. We're so glad this is our 'local' and we will become regulars very quickly.
Everything about the experience was positive: Nice atmosphere, seated promptly, served promptly, good food, just the right amount of attention from the servers.
Re: the noise level, we were there for a weekday lunch, so I can’t say what the noise level might be like in the evening or on the weekend when the bar is busier.
I had a choice of a number of appealing meals for lunch. The curried chicken salad wrap was wonderful. I will go back so I can try other menu items.
Wonderful setting on beautiful day. We sat outside w friendly other patrons. The staff was friendly and accommodating to our 100 pound golden retriever! This is a dog friendly establishment. If it was closer to home, I would come regularly.
It took forever before we could order and then the runners had no idea who ordered what. Also the server forgot my tea and it was too late before he showed up for me to order it.
My husband’s birthday was not recognized so that was a bit of a let down. Service was slow and had to ask for water. Fish and chips are still the best version I’ve ever had.
Met a friend have not seen and the food was very good. As well as the service.
It would have been perfect, except my hamburger was not well done as requested. Have had this problem before.
Great atmosphere at the bar! Lively yet not noisy. Dining room ambiance was great - comfortable but a hint of fine dining. The owner, Christy, came over and introduced himself, sat down and engaged in interesting conversation for a short period. Highly recommend!
We have been planning on going to the Inn for a long time. We were a little concerned about making our first time on Valentines Day. Not to worry. The service (Enrique) was great. He was on top of everything . He added a lot to the evening, especially his humor. The food was delicious. My wife had the Stroganoff and I had the pork shank. Both delicious as well as the creme brulee and bread pudding.
Had dinner for Valentine's Day here. The service was very attentive and there wasn't much of a wait at any point in the meal. The only hitch was when they brought over some soup that we didn't order and that problem was quickly corrected. We had the Galway seafood stew and the Guiness beef stroganoff which were both excellent.
I am based out of Rockville and The Irish Inn is my go to place for business lunches with my Northern Virginia associates and they love it!
Irish Inn was fine for our business meeting. the little Irish soda breads were delicious. we wanted a place where we didnt have to waste time looking for parking, or risk a ticket. i will return often. they really do have the best fish and chips i have ever had. seriously, and i have that a lot, just not this time.
Yummy food. Lovely waitress
Where do I begin. I first called the Irish inn to ask if they had 6-nations rugby so we could watch Irish/Scottish rugby game. The person said they did so I booked a reservation on open table for brunch and included in the notes that we wanted to be seated next to a tv to watch the rugby game. When we got there the manager was about to seat us in the dining room when I asked him if they had the rugby match on in the bar (clearly did not read the notes). He said he could sit us in the bar next to the tv. We sat down and soccer was on. I asked a server if we could turn on rugby and he stated he had to ask. We waited for about 5 mins and our server came and took our drink order. Our server took our order and that was the last we saw of her. Mid way through waiting for our meal, I asked a server again if they could turn on the rugby match and she stated that they did not have rugby there and that they didn’t even get local matches. As she walked back to the bar, we over heard two guests state that they wanted soccer and not rugby. The server also was stating that she wasn’t going to switch it over. My wife and I were turned off on the way we were treated. It was clear at that point we were not welcomed in this bar.We got our meal which were very bland. My wife did not even get a spoon for her soup so I had to get up and grab it. I was willing to give credit to the different server who came to check on us and asked if we needed anything until we told her that the my wife’s drink was wrong. We stated it should have been a black and gold (magners and Guinness) and not a black velvet. She then challenged us twice stating that it was called a snake bite and not a black velvet. I said well whatever it is that you call it it was wrong. After she was done challenging us she decided to take it off the check for us. I want to note that she wasn’t even our original server. The original server clearly didn’t want to deal with us since we got that vibe we were not welcomed there.
as ever a great trip to the Irish in , good food drink and service reasonably priced
The most classy and intimate ambiance. Easy parking, wonderful service, fantastic food. What more cou you ask for?? :)
Service was ok, food was nothing special, ambience was horrible. Sunday night Jazz was happening in pub area and our party had to split up to fit near the bar to listen to music and grab some drinks. We met some locals who were fun and nice, the only folks who actually smiled and spoke more than 2 words (including the staff). These same folks were actually reprimanded by another patron for being too loud (because they were talking and laughing at a natural level) in a freaking IRISH PUB!! The bartender just shrugged it off. It was at this point we knew this place was not for us but we stuck it out and had drinks and dinner but won’t be back. It’s a shame as I had high hopes for a fun Irish Pub with awesome atmosphere, live music, great service and good comfort food.
Cozy pub perfect for a beer and comfort food with a date or friends. Makes you feel like you’re in a pub in Ireland. The food is delicious and the service is so friendly. Great spot can’t wait to go back!
We recently enjoyed a super celebration of our 47th anniversary with 2 of our oldest and dearest friends. I requested a quiet space to allow for easy conversation, which turned out to be a totally private room, as it was a slow night and no one else was seated in the space with us. The food was fantastic ... beef perfectly cooked to order, delectable duck, and the freshest of fish. The best lightly fried calamari we’ve had anywhere. Excellent red wine blend, reasonably priced. Our server was just the right mix of personable and professional.
Food was delicious and arrived temperature wise very hot, which is greatly appreciated. Perfect! Kurt, our waiter, and took excellent care of us. Water was refilled as needed by another individual. Service was professional while not at all intrusive. Great neighborhood place!
The building and dining area was great. Quiet and fitting. The service was slow. Got our orders wrong 3 times. Our main course had definitely sat in the kitchen as it was luke warm. Our hostess was nice but the other waiters were rude.
