Ivy Market Grill
Fish & Chips
Traditional battered cod served with mashed peas, thick cut chips and tartare sauce
Melting chocolate bombe with milk foam, vanilla ice cream and honeycomb centre with hot salted caramel sauce
Delicious food and great service. Restaurant quite dark so difficult to read the menu!!
I was disappointed the I order Sole and the chef was not able to take it off the bone so I had to order something else.
Generally the atmosphere and service was OK but I had to call the waiter over many times to refill our wine glasses.
Nice selection of food without too much. Good Service, bit slow on drinks but waiter very friendly
Always just perfect, service excellent food outstanding
Nice setting- lovely afternoon tea.
Waiters/waitresses could have been a little more attentive
So impressed with quality of food
Truly delicious- booked to go back at the weekend
Food and service was excellent. The restaurant itself was quite quiet so atmosphere was not as good as usual.
Service pushy and abrupt when we asked if we could finish our aperitif before staring our starters.
We had to ask for the wine to be brought… that was after being served the wrong aperitif first!
The soufflé was lovely but we’ve had better tempura… my streak tartare was too cold - you need to be able to taste the flavour of the meat but my partner’s shepherds pie was good.
All in all, for the cost it wasn’t worth it.
A really pleasant evening. We both enjoyed our meal. I had scallops, with extra parmesan fries, and the monk fish curry. The starter was OK and the curry was very good. The service was good and pleasant. A real bug bear was the mark up on the wine, the highest we have experienced for Whispering Angel rose. £18 in Waitrose £57 here. I presume there was a similar mark up on the other wines. Lock down has taught us the real value of wines . The Ivy are just being greedy. Think carefully about whether you would be satisfied with a less over priced wine.
Pre theatre dinner
Really attentive staff and the food was delicious, my third time dining at an ivy restaurant and am looking forward to the next one already!
Grilled chicken salad was very filling and gorgeously presented, and the eggs on the Royale were cooked to perfection
Food and service were amazing.
Slightly spoilt by the two girls on the table next to us that decided to carry out COVID test at their table!! Gross - decided not to stay for pudding after seeing that. Staff were good and asked them to put the COVID test bits away but by that time it was too late!
Fantastic restaurant with friendly, efficient staff. Good selection of food and drinks.
Charming place, polite and friendly service. Not high-quality food, especially the beef tartare
Brilliant service, great atmosphere, food was gorgeous
Great food great service good atmosphere one blemish had to que for 10 mins even tho we had a table booked.
the table was far too small for 6 people. cheap paper napkins. the service was extremely slow and we had to keep asking different waiting staff for the same thing. toilets messy, dirty and broken.
I had booked a table for 5.45pm and we had to wait until 6.10pm to be seated. I asked if I could order drinks whilst I waited at the bar and was told that it wasn’t possible to order drinks until you are seated at the table!
We were given water instead.
We were finally shown to our table which was pushed up closely to all the other tables, shoulders almost touching the person on the table behind!
The noise level was very loud and as we were seated on a main walkway, every time someone walked past us they bumped our chairs.
The waitress was very attentive and this was the only part that made the experience bearable.
Very disappointed as I had booked this for our anniversary dinner.
Very friendly staff who were happy to help. Food was very good and sent out quickly. Would happily go back!
Absolutely fantastic meal and service. Had a truly wonderful evening.
Visited previously and great , this visit was very poor as after sitting down it took 45 minutes just to get a water and drinks then very slow for the food and then rushed to get us out, lack of staff and for the experience very high cost .
We eat here yesterday and it’s my favourite restaurant in Covent Garden & it didn’t disappoint, food & service was absolutely amazing.
We’ll definitely be back.
Was my first time there. Felt a little cramped. Loads of staff who where extremely busy. Food was nice.
Have been to the restaurant several times and did not feel the food was up to standard
The Ivy is one of my favourite places for Afternoon Tea. Unfortunately yesterday we had to wait 60 mins for our table, then we another 20 minutes after ordering twice before being served. The sandwiches were dry and the desserts not particularly nice. We were given a complimentary glass of champagne for our wait. We assumed the slow service was due to covid issues causing lack of staff. It was just disappointing as we were celebrating a special occasion.
Not such a good experience as previous visits. Tables seemed to be too close together. Service was ok at best.
Very pleasant experience. Good and service 1st class.
Very attentive staff despite being a busy Saturday. Quality of food was excellent.
Celebrating my daughters graduation
Always a pleasure when in town.to meet friends at the Ivy Market Grill, and it never disappoints.
Amazing service & beautiful food
The food was great, the service impeccable and the ambience was amazing.
Tables overbooked so asked to wait - no apology, no offer of seat for pregnant friend. Table available 20 mins late. Nibbles and drinks took 30 mins to arrive and came with starter. Request for second drinks and blankets wasn’t met. Dessert not offered before we were told the terrace was closing. On complaining, apology offered and drinks (2, non-alcoholic) and nibbles removed from bill.
An institution and always a great place to meet up with friends for drinks and a good, hearty meal
I had booked dinner to celebrate my daughter's birthday but had to wait for half an hour for the table to be ready. We were lucky and were able to sit at the bar - we were lucky - others had to wait on the pavement outside, including a pregnant lady.
The service was appalling - half of our sides were forgotten, despite asking 4 times. We waited an hour for a drink and the coffee and diet/coke, when it arrived, was a coffee vodka, despite the waitress writing down the order. Really, it was pretty shambolic and other diners were complaining too.
When the bill came, it included two lots of the side orders we missed and having spoken to the manager, the only compensation she gave, was to omit the service charge from the bill - this is optional, anyway.
I have eaten here on several occasions and had nothing but the best service. Last night left me very disappointed and I won't be visiting anytime soon.
Great food, atmosphere & service
Would go again without hesitation
Stuck out in the side street, staff temporary and waited for ever.
Good food and service, very busy Friday night! they had no box for the cake we ordered to take the left over, that needs to be sorted, they provide a cake for special occasion but not providing a box or a bag to take it away.
Unfortunately not a best this time, usually very good experience but this time Veal steak wasn’t nice at all. First one send back to be replaced by completely raw steak second time. Would come back but not for steak
