Ate outside. Food is good and so was service. Drinks can get pricey. Had a a Manhattan that cost $18. That’s Eddie V’s pricing. But Eddie V’s mix it table side with a smoked plank.

The J Bar has a very nice indoor area that I did not spend any time at, and has a very lovely patio area on their second floor. The view is to the east, so you do get cheated out of a sunset, but that’s OK. The menu is not outstanding, but the food is a very fair value and pretty good quality.
Kayla was the only server working the patio, and while there was one other person tending bar, she was HUSTLING. My wife and I enjoyed a couple of drinks and then enjoyed a couple of burgers, all on a delightful 75° evening. If you’re looking for an outstanding menu, then you likely are not going to find it here, but that’s OK. What you do find is a nice space, with plenty of distancing, and very friendly staff.

Limited Covid menu,but, food was very good. Drinks were good and service was outstanding.

No signage outside to tell you that Embassy Suites has a bar. We showed up for our 6pm reservation. No one greeted us or offered to seat us. Staff looked at us and kept walking by. We didn't eat there and left. Online pictures are deceiving.

We actually didn't get to enjoy the JBar... I'm going to be honest, every time we've been, it is absolutely 5 stars. We LOVE our JBar. We made the reservation, hoping they were finally open. We should have called ahead to see as there was no indication otherwise that they weren't open. We got to the hotel where the JBar is inside and it was desolate. The hotel has yet to reopen after the C19 shutdowns which means JBar was not open either. I'm still giving them 5 stars because I know that they'd serve something delicious. :)
There were five of us and we had an outstanding time. Our waitress Katie was wonderful. I don't think anyone could do any better. Thoughtful, everything on time without being rushed and on top of that a great personality. The drinks, entrees and salads were excellent, however the appetizers were just ok.
But overall it was a great experience.

The hostess was not there, she finally arrived and had cleaning supplies in her hands. She took our name and said she had to clear some tables first.
She seated us and our server came over. She was very helpful with finding all dishes to accommodate my celiac disease. She took our drink order. Returned and took our dinner order. Didn’t see her again until she asked if we wanted to see the dessert menu!!
No, we’d like to have dinner first, it’s been an hour!! Dinner arrived and it was cold, dry, burnt, not good!!

Geat service, food and atmosphere. The price is very priced based on the good quality of food. My wife and I had a great Valentine's Day dinner!

How disappointing to spend Valentine's Day frustrated. Seated actually a little early and then it all went down hill from there. 7-8 minutes to have a person finally approach our table and it was only the busboy delivering water. Finally 10 minutes in and we were just about to walk out, the waiter comes to our table. Drinks are ordered, my Tanqueray and tonic is delivered in about 10 minutes but no sign of my wife's wine. "The bar is backed up" we are told by waiter. Food arrives very quickly and is cold, guessing they had plates prepared and under a heat lamp or something and to top it off my "Gaucho Steak" isn't what they bring, rather the special Trio Medallion Filet. I keep it just to keep moving forward. Lastly we ordered desert, S'mores mini tarts and lime cheesecake for my wife. Several minutes later he comes back and tells us they are out of the s'mores. I'll bring you anything else on the house. No thanks preferably the check. During our painful 1-1/2 hours, we saw two different tables near us leave, one because no one ever came to their table and the second had something to do with their order and it was going to be 30 minutes they were told to get what they wanted. They abruptly left with a fond memory of Valentines 2020
Went Valentine’s Day. Reservations at 7:30z. We’re sat quickly but service lacked from there. From waiting for drinks, bread, appetizers and entree. We were there for almost 2 hours from seating to check due to how slow it was. Food was good but was on the colder side due to the waits coming out.

This is the third time I've been here and it just has gone steadily downhill. I thought I was an episode of Hee Haw. You know, The Doubletree in Overland Park has a restaurant. That's awesome. Trofli, much better.

You are at the mercy of a hotel guests at J Bar and apparently there was some youth soccer event and there were lots of pre-teens in the restaurant. Makes it less romantic and more noisy than usual.

Great food, but not a romantic atmosphere. We made the mistake of reserving a table for Valentine's Day which happened to fall on a Friday this year. The high-ceiling lobby with its hard floors amplified the noise from lots of youth soccer players who were apparently in town for a weekend tournament. The J Bar serves as a great place for parents to order drinks while their kids move about the lobby socializing, but definitely not a good place for couples to have a quiet meal together.

Delicious food and great ambience. We had the avocado egg rolls to start and devoured them.
J Bar is hit and miss. Depends on the day. The winter old fashioned is usually a great drink but today it was poor. Needs more consistency.

Our first visit. The service was extremely slow and not good at all. My boyfriend's drink was never refilled (nor asked to get a refill), we grabbed silverware from another table as none was on our table, another dish was brought to our table. My meal to arrive was very late, while my boyfriend received his. The waitress came by and asked if everything was tasting alright (I didn't have my food yet), didn't say anything about my missing entree. We overheard other tables being unhappy about the service as well. We will not be returning
Used to really like the J Bar. Food is good but the service is spotty. Salad came out with entree and manager comped part of the meal. I would have preferred just better overall service!

We celebrated our anniversary at J Bar. The ravioli was so yummy! My husband asked for a medium-rare steak and it came out medium well but the sauce gave it good flavor so he wasn’t terribly unhappy about it. Service was great! Would definitely go again!

I was surprised to drive up & find out that The J Bar is inside the Embassy Suites Hotel. The location was very attractive to teenagers dressed for their Home Coming dance & their photographer parents. Our experience improved when that crowd moved on. My Thai flatbread was delicious. One of my companions looked for something chocolate on the dessert menu, but didn't find any options.

Just don’t go. We were the second table in the entire place and couldn’t get drink refills and order our food in a timely manner. None of the food had any flavor. Our food came out with ingredients/sides missing. We will definitely NOT be going back.

They messed up our order cause they have two menus and apparently they stopped serving the dish that we ordered but haven’t changed the menu. Typically this type of screw up is comped, but no such luck for us.
Also noted we were celebrating our birthdays but that didn’t get us anything either which is unusual.
We went there for burger week to try their burger and sat out on the rooftop patio. The service and view were great but we ordered our burger-week burger well done and it was way over cooked.

We went to JBar for the KC Burger week. Their prime rib burger was fantastic and it was a gorgeous evening for alfresco dining. It did take a little long to get served but other than that I would highly recommend JBar.

When we arrived, it took several minutes to be greeted. We were in full view of a server and bartender. We were also the only customers in the restaurant for the lengthy duration of our meal. We had to push together our own tables to accommodate our group of 8, though we made reservations. We waited on our food for over an hour and our server was pretty non-existent, she didn't offer refills or check to see if the food was to our liking. I used to work for Heart of America and have always been a big fan. I will continue to frequent other locations but this experience was a pretty big disappoint for us and our guests who were trying out the JBar for the first time.
My 2 friends and I arrived at 7 for our happy hour reservation. There was plenty of available seating; we didn't need to make a reservation. One drink was delivered to the wrong person, and another was delivered as the wrong drink altogether. Twice. The food was good, but not very hot by the time it arrived. It was very slow service, especially as the place was pretty empty. There was no compensation for the incorrect drinks, or the wait. I will not recommend this place to anyone, nor will I plan to revisit. Happy hour should also extend to 7 pm, as half the city can't make it to Olathe by 6 pm to take advantage of the happy hour specials.
It was OK. Overpriced for the overall quality. Rooftop bar was fun and would recommend for drinks.

Wedding anniversary (noted this when made resrtvation) We were one of 5 tables dining. Dining disturbed due to waitress dropoed and broke water glasses at nearby table. Manager attend to that table ... he did not walk around to greet any other tables. The food looked better platted than it tasked. My chicken was dry to point difficult to eat...salad had vinegary taste .. no flavor. Wine glass was not clean...has to send back...2nd pour had sediment. $70 wasted. We use to rave to others about this restaurant. Based on this event experience we will never return.

If you go to the J bar don't expect much in the way of full meals. Most of their menu was appetizers and small bites. My husband and I ordered 2 appetizers, a cup of soup, and a burger to share and we had enough to eat.
