Two waiters working very hard to please everyone.
Hostess manager ( i guess)wondering around not helping the situation at all. No bartender. Everything was a long wait as the two waiters were working franticly to help everyone. We ran out of time before the food came and took it to go.
I have been to the Knick many times but, this is the worst and I won’t be back.
Connor was amazing!!
The whole experience was fabulous. Good food, good service
We really enjoyed the outdoor seating. With people there it was energetic but not deafening, and after they left we had to whole deck to ourselves for half an hour. Best of both worlds.
The food was just good, but the drinks and the view made it a great experience overall. And the staff was so kind and courteous. Definitely recommend.
Love the food and drink options during Happy Hour. Great value.
The waiter forgot silverware for our appetizer
The steak was undercooked and we could not eat it
The dessert was a cream brûlée and the middle was cold and the sugar on top could be peeled off
It was 100$ and was very disappointed in the entirety of the steak dinner, could not eat it.
Lovely seating outside in the glass enclosure. We enjoyed wine and cocktails. The food was very good and the server friendly and efficient.
I have been to the Knick many times and have always had excellent food. However, this time the quiche was not as good. Shell slightly burnt in spots and could not find asparagus or mushrooms. Other than that everything was great.
I made reservations for a date out with my husband. Drove 45 minutes to come into Milwaukee. When we arrived we were brought out to the patio although there was room inside. It was both cold on my feet and hot from overhead. We were alone on the patio which I guess was fine but the chairs looked like we were at an ice cream shop and it had none of the ambiance of sitting inside. Very disappointing, especially when there were open tables indoors AND had reservations. We had the bacon wrapped scallops which were seared perfectly. My husband had the pork chop which was alright and I had the salmon. Curry couscous was quite bland. I had high hopes for the lobster bisque but it was indiscernible. Overall, I’m sorry to say it was a disappointing experience. You were recommended by a friend, the pics online looked like the ambiance would make a perfect date night setting and the menu looked interesting. Our waitress Jessica was great- poor thing had to walk all the way out to us for no reason. Unfortunately, I can’t imagine a return visit.
The food was some of the best we’ve ever had! (Scallops, tuna tar-tar, braised ribs). Service was friendly and en pointe! The building and location are great but the table set up could be a bit more interesting. Likely due to Covid-related changes. Will definitely be back!!
Excellent brunch with relatives from Chicago
Service is merely ok. Too bad.
They ran out of ice cream so couldn’t make our brandy Alexander dessert drink😢
We were the only guests seated in the glassed in enclosure, with heaters keeping us comfortable. Service was friendly and efficient, our server checking in on us appropriately. We enjoyed fresh and delicious salad entrees, followed by extremely generous portions of Brandy Alexander for dessert and coffee.
Reliable experience in food quality and comfortable space to dine at any time of day.
Have eaten at The Knick probably 6-7 times over the years. Go there in part for the ambiance, and also for the good food.
We were set out on their heated "patio" this time, and it was not good. Very noisy, hard to hear conversations, and a concrete floor is not why we come to The Knick. Waitress did the minimal amount to serve us...another waitress at tables next to us visited those tables several times, vs. ours who visited to (non-enthusiastically) take our order, bring drinks, bring food, and bring bill. And that was about it.
Food was excellent. We would go back, but will insist on being inside.
The Knick is always a great spot for brunch. Great service and food at reasonable prices.
Food was great, our server was a bit disappointing. She forgot one of our first drinks but didn’t come back to ask what it was until the other 2 were already made. We would have put an appetizer in right when the drinks were dropped off but then didn’t take that order until the drink that was forgotten was made. After dinner we wanted to order some type of dessert hut had to ask for the dessert menu ourselves. Nothing looked appealing so we decided to share an alcoholic ice cream drink. We put the order in and she brought us extra bowls for it, but after all that she came back to tell us there was no more ice cream left.
Food and drinks were tasty throughout, but service was lacking
Food was not worth the price. Biscuits were hard French toast was not good. The potato’s had no flavor and hard
A neighborhood gem. One of the places I keep coming back to!
The staff was very accommodating and attentive as we had special needs people in our party.
Eating here was a hot mess. Started with the host who wouldn’t look up at me. He then said under his breath that I would have to wait an hour after telling him I had a reservation. I asked him to repeat himself as I didn’t fully hear him and another stepped in and said I would have to wait an hour. I said again, but I have a reservation. They found me a table outside. It was extremely HOT as the heater was blowing full blast. I asked for the heat to be tuned off as it was extremely uncomfortable. She said she couldn’t but opened a window (another customer got up and closed it *eye roll*) Heater was eventually turned off after complaints from others. Total lack of friendliness from waitress. Food was underwhelming for the cost. I was friendly and polite the entire time but wanted to scream inside. 🙄 Will not return.
I've gone to the Knickerbocker Hotel for brunch many times over 2 decades. Food was always excellent and service always great. I love their corned beef hash! Plus they have gluten free toast. We liked eating out on their patio/sunroom.
We had a 7 o’clock reservation and we walked in 10min to and the host hardly greeted us and just kind of said “uhhh this is our only table” and it was in the middle of hustle and bustle and not even set. Our waiter was friendly but hardly checked in on us. Our food was good/okay. Nothing to rave about. Our menus were dirty with food and stains on them. Didn’t seem very clean at all. Don’t recommend and probably won’t go back. Just very unwelcoming. Almost walked out before ordering food.
Great food. Service was very slow.
Consistent food and service I was a pleasure to die in here particularly during this tough period of time
Great cocktails, great food, great dessert, great service!
We sat in the outdoor/ patio area which was nice and toasty with the heaters going. And it wasn’t as crowded as the main part of the restaurant so that was a plus. Great service and great meal.
The atmosphere was lacking, but the food was quite good for lunch. We had a patty-melt and a salad. Maybe eating outside in the summertime would provide a nicer atmosphere, as the inside was mediocre and uninviting. Pretty much no ambiance to draw me back there. If they would make it cozy, warm, and attractive I would reconsider.
Overall wasn’t a bad dining experience burger was really good
Good service and good food overall. Would recommend.
I understand COVID is putting a clamp on what's normal for the restaurant business. But when I make a reservation for your well-furnished restaurant, I expect to be seated at a table that qualifies as such. That was not the case for the anniversary dinner my partner and I attempted to enjoy last Saturday night. Upon arrival, after giving the time and name for my reservation, I was told the only tables available were "outside" in their enclosed patio. Thankfully the space was heated, but being seated outside the restaurant on plastic-covered metal chairs was a far cry from the ambience we expected to enjoy while dining. For the price you're paying to eat the (admittedly excellent) food, taking a reservation to seat someone outside your walls is poor service.
Happy was great! Wonderful value and service was very attentive.
The food was great and our server was very sweet, but the service was horrible. The amount of time it took to order our drinks, receive our drinks and order our food was disappointing. I love dining at the Knick, so I am hoping we caught them on a bad day.
In these times of Covid-19, it was wonderful to be able to dine out at the Knick. We sat out on the enclosed porch with space heaters overhead. It was very cozy. Our service was excellent and the food was very good, as always. Ambience was fun, considering that it is winter and with the pandemic, things have to be a certain way. We were very happy and plan to return soon.
Excellent lunch -- wonderful service -- always enjoy meeting at 'The Knick.'
Ambience and food was good; honestly my experience would have been much better if our waitress was more formal and professional. She was odd about bringing a new drink (the one I ordered I did not like and asked for it changed politely and if possible) but did and then seemed to avoid our table the rest of the night. Over explained a lot such as workplace drama and policies instead of "let me check." What was the most off putting was when she asked if we wanted our dessert to go...? Which to me translates to get the heck out. Then pulled out our forks for dessert and handed them to us to take from her hands, not set them..... on the table? She almost poked my eye. I wouldn't even expect this service at Applebee's but especially not a formal nice restaurant. I would maybe come back to sit at the bar but it's not worth dining here if it means getting this service again. I will be telling others to stay away.
The selection on the menu was great. Our party of 7 found someing we each enjoyed. Pricing was good. Happy hour drinks were priced right and delicious. Our server was a missing at a couple key moments. It was a birthday and she didnt bring an item back to the table we asked for. Otherwise, it was a nice dinner experience
Overall it was a good experience however the service wasn't very good. Very slow and I think we had other servers check in on us more than our actual server. Food was great though and all in all it was a good time
While this restaurant has been around for quite a while, I still consider it a hidden gem because people often forget about it. I love the atmosphere, lighting is soothing, people are always nice and service is efficient. The food is consistent and always very good. Salads are unmatched in the Milwaukee area in my opinion. Portions are large and quality is very good. If you haven’t visited in a while, you should make it a point to stop in!
