The Lickfold Inn
Food was outstanding. The layout of the restaurant was perfect. However it did take a while to pay at the end. Overall though the experience was amazing and I would not hesitate to return
The staff are pleasant and welcoming as always. The menu is interesting and the dishes we chose were excellent.
We have yet to get to the dessert menu! It is our go to pub and restaurant and we shall miss it during their closure, due to Covid.
Amazing welcoming gastropub with fabulous food and fantastic service will be going back when allowed to very soon. This is how all pubs should run xx
Every aspect bloody marvolus recommend it highly..
Lovely food, great service. A little quiet, but we had quite a late lunchtime sitting so understandable. Definitely go again.
Delicious food, lovely staff, beautiful pub! :)
One of the best restaurant for tasty vegan options! We had an amazing evening, there were many vegan and vegetarian options on the menu and the one we tried were simply beautiful. Great service, nice and relaxed atmosphere, I wish we were living in the area.
Food was excellent and mix up on drink order quickly corrected. Looking forward to our next visit
The atmosphere was nice with a big roaring fire and Christmas decorations. The staff were all very sweet, although we did have to go and find them three times to order. The food was very very average. We ordered calamari and pigs in blankets to start. The calamari was soggy and the pigs in blankets came alone with no sauce (honey, chutney etc) I had the pheasant which was tough and had to get salt for (which I never do) as the sauce was very under seasoned. Similarly the bubble and squeak was flavourless. My partner said the ribs were ok but the triple cooked chips were great. It’s a shame as it was my birthday meal but it fell very flat. Would come back again for a drink as the venue and staff are lovely and maybe a baked Camembert which is hard to go wrong!
Fantastic job in the current environment. Impeccable service, lovely food and good value. Thank you!
Perfect end to a country weekend; food was fantastic - portions enormous. My only feedback would be to ensure everything on the Sunday roast is piping hot :) and always more gravy...
We enjoyed a really good evening at The Lickfold Inn eating in the marquee. Our server was great and we had a good meal in a nice setting. Many thanks to all the staff, especially in these strange times, we will definitely be visiting again.
very good . chris has a great haircut. interesting menu
Great menu, lots of choice, really good cooking. Highly recommend!
Huge disappointment. The Lickfold is a delightful setting and deserves way better. The service was as ordinary as the food. Not helped when our order was taken (no specials available) and then 10 mins later the waitress returned to say that there was no more of the dish that my wife and her friend had ordered. Made worse when, at the time of sharing the desert menu, the waitress let us know that 3 of the 6 deserts were not available ‘as they were changing over to a different menu’. Poor timing/process execution. The food itself was very average and dis not live up to the ambition of the executive chef’s articulation on the website. We will not return in a hurry
Went with hubby for Friday lunch. Great to see the place was busy. Excellent choice of veggie & vegan options with a nice wine list. Food was delicious, although the onion strings looked better than they tasted. Homemade doughnuts were a hit! Good service, and if we lived nearby, this could easily become our local.
A very pleasant venue for lunch with well cooked food and a friendly service. We hope to return soon.
Amazing service and atmosphere. The food was superb, so much better than recent years. The new owners are delightful and the chef is excellent. Steak was locally sourced and the prawns were huge! Thoroughly enjoyed our evening. 😊
A very pleasant lunch .Disappointed in not being able to get a coffee to finish off the meal .....machine apparently broken .
First visit since ownership changed. New menu is much more on the lines of good pub food versus the previous fine dining experience.
Visit was only spoilt by the fact that one of the waitresses wore her mask under her nose - which makes it useless and left us rather concerned.
Service was slow, had to keep going to bar to ask to update order.
Also no baby changing facilities and was told to use the floor in the disabled toilet
The staff were very welcoming and the food was prompt and very tasty. The wine was too!
This was our second time here, but this visit we were sat outside. It was cold, no atmosphere and sadly the food was not as good as our first visit especially the brownie...it was a solid lump and very cold. Quite disappointing. Really hope things pick up.
Venue offering has changed beyond recognition and instead of fine dining we have a pub but it needs to survive.Good luck in these very difficult times.
Lovely people running the place but we felt the food wasn’t as good as it’s been in the past. Lots of different things on offer. need to simplify menu and Focus on one theme.
Super pub. First visit. Delicious food and welcoming landlord/team. Good C-19 precautions.
No draught beer. Either unlucky, or lack of planning?
Next time, I'm sure there will be ale.
I really like The Lickfold Inn and we visit regularly in the evening for a drink or 2. We decided to visit on Sunday for food and booked via Open Table. When we turned up, they had no recollection of our booking. I specifically requested inside as it was a chilly day and where they didn’t have our booking, we got sat outside under the marquee. We chose a table closest to the heater but then got asked to move due to a group booking. We asked the waitress if there was a table available inside but they said there wasn’t so we decided to leave as we didn’t want to spend the best part of what would have been £60 on food and drinks for it all to get cold outside. As we got back into our car, the lady did come out and say that they were reshuffling inside so we could stay but we felt like an inconvenience by this point so left anyway. We will visit again for drinks but I think it has put me off visiting for food.
We felt that the Lickfold Inn had really upped its game since our previous visit. It had been a wonderful restaurant under its previous owners and is now truly finding its feet as a gastropub. Excellent food, enjoyed by all. Just one piece of constructive criticism - the wine list needs, perhaps to offer greater choice.
Superb food good veggie options. Attentive but not intrusive service. A great place will return
Had high expectations however the it was not what we had hoped for. The following issues let it down:
- We were left standing at the entrance for a while before anyone took any notice of us
-We asked for water and it never arrived
- It was very cold inside, guests were sitting in coats and requesting electric heaters. We weren’t offered one.
- We had already finished our starter before our drinks order had arrived
- No one came to take payment so in the end we went to the bar to pay for the bill (which was not what we were supposed to do)
Great service, lovely staff and the food was excellent.
Great pub in lovely location. Great seating in an external marquee with heating! Food was nice and service friendly.
A lovely calm meal, two of us had pizza, surprising for a pub. A shame there were only 4 others there, but the waitress said they were busy which was good to hear.
Good choice for vegans and vegetarians. My calves' liver was good, but needed one more slide of liver to match the bacon and was not QUITE as good as that I've had at the Halfway Bridge. We went on a Wednesday, and were pleasantly surprised to find it was 20% off night so very good value (£86 for a family of five, including drinks). Good pint of ale (Shure Drop? I'd never had it before) from the Surrey Hills brewery. Dog friendly too.
Awful. Just awful.
We were greeted by someone who’s opening words were: “you’re outside in the marque”. The pub was completely empty but we followed. The marque was dirty, cold and had no tables set. It looked like a party had been in it the night before. I asked if we could sit inside as it was cold and raining but was told they weren’t sure. The whole
Place was empty. It was 13:00 on a Sunday lunch.
We left. Ended up somewhere in Midhurst that was warm, welcoming and lovely.
Very nice pub after a walk at Petworth park . Perfect location and very good service . Will definitely be visiting again
Excellent food, great location and atmosphere, affordable prices
Good experience. Not used to added service charge though and did not notice
this so left a tip. Not keen on this idea.
Table for 2 for lunch. Great and revised menu, now quality “pub food”. The children’s menu is also relevant and impressive. The C-19 precautions are all you would hope them to be. All in all, soooo much better than formally. We will be returning soon.
Highly recommended now.
