Great place to meet up with friends to chat. Wonderful menu options. The Mac and cheese was amazing.
This was our first time at The Market Place. The food was excellent! Service was fabulous, and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening.
very nice little restaurant , nice and quiet terrasse .
Awesome drinks and cheese plate!
Great spot in Asheville. Keeping Covid guidelines well, so I felt safe. Food was good. Bar drinks were OK. They should step up their bar game to compete with neighboring offerings - more premium liquor brands and improving bartender skills to make classic cocktails that are not on their "craft cocktail" menu. Overall a great experience!
This was our first visit to The Marketplace and our food was delicious, the service amazing and the overall atmosphere wonderful!
Every single thing we ordered here was excellent. The Appalachian Lemonade was a wonderful cocktail and the Pork Shoulder had great flavor. I would highly recommend!
Excellent food and service. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Charcuterie board, bison and grouper were amazing.
Traveling (Covid car trip) and really enjoyed the friendly service, fabulous food and outdoor dining!
I absolutely love the food. The service is excellent as well.
Excellent service and excellent Covid safety protocols
We had our wedding dinner here with exceptional service and food.
My meal was great. Waiter was ok...nothing special.
Fantastic food and service. Great wine list too
Food and service were top notch! Food is outstanding!!!!
Service was excellent. Everything we ordered was delicious. My husband is still raving over the Joyce Farm chicken! The shrimp and grits, lamb pappardelle, house made pickles and truffle fries were also very good. Maybe needed the pasta to be a slightly less thick, but the flavors were wonderful and otherwise no complaints!
The Market Place was good if unimpressive. I didn't realize I had been there once before, and now I know why; it wasn't that great. Still, this isn't a bad spot and it's really a nice date place. I'd go back, it just wouldn't be my first choice.
1) Covid-19 procedures were spot-on. Felt safe. Temp check at the door, safe distance practices, masks, etc.
2) Ambience and view. You are in the heart of Asheville and there' plenty of windows. I really like being seated on the second floor.
1) Food was average by Asheville standards. I got the Pork Shoulder and it tasted good but was too fatty, even for a shoulder. My girlfriend got the steak but it was a bit overcooked. Not bad, but again, underwhelming.
2) To promote sanitization, they required all guests to use their phone to review the menu. If you aren't tech savvy this can seem a bit insulting, if not frustrating. It worked fine for me but having your phone out while on a date spoils the mood a bit.
The peppers appetizer was delicious. Heirloom tomato salad best I’ve ever had. Shrimp and grits and pork shoulder out of this world. Fun and yummy craft cocktails.
Excellent food and service!
Our waiter told us they had a special on a 6" gourmet cinnamon roll that day. We ordered it to come out first while we were deciding on our entree' meal. We ordered our entree' meal. My boyfriend noticed his water glas was cracked and asked for a new one. Still no cinnamon roll. Our meal arrived. I had a side of jalapeno cheese grits that were not part of my meal and I could not eat. I gave them to my boygriend. The waiter did not seem to care when this was brought to his attention, as well as the fact that the cinnamon roll had not arrived. It finally arrived. Smaller than what we were told and was actually a over size biscuit with barely any cinnamon flavor-big dissappointment. The waiter ask how everything was and I explained our dissappointment of the cinnamon roll. His only answer was "oh, sorry you did not like it." We waited forever for the check and then again for the change. (By the way, I taught Culinary Arts for 14 years). I would not recommend this restaurant.
Great gin drinks and food!
Brunch for four. Sat upstairs, quiet, nice environment. Vince was great at taking care of us. E joyed everything. Will be back!
Great place to eat in Asheville. Amazing food and atmosphere.
We had a delicious brunch and the service was excellent.
Great service and food for the price. Went for brunch on a weekend day and there was a huge line out the doors so making a reservation is your best bet! We got seated immediately.
Celebrating with friends. Hands down my favorite spot in Asheville.
Great place loved the food
The Marketplace remains one of our favorites among Asheville's many fine independently-owned restaurants. William Dissen's menu is always fresh and tasty. The scallops were amazing. My husband's Brasstown burger was out-of-this-world. We started with an heirloom tomato salad and house-made pickles. Does it get any better in Asheville on a warm August day as September closes in on us? I don't think so.
The service was outstanding. Manager Justin was warm and welcoming. The restaurant just started serving dinner on Monday evenings the night we went, but you could have fooled me. They didn't skip a beat.
Great and good
I enjoyed Market Place very much! I did not like the tuna appetizer (a little plain but I didn’t ear the charred cumbersome with it so it was probably my fault) or the grits in their shrimp and grits, they were very grainy and I think grits should be creamy. The shrimp and tomato gravy were outstanding. I loved the mushroom special. The waiter was excellent! I would definitely recommend this restaurant. The grits and tuna are just a matter of taste, others might love things that way!
Brunch was awesome - shrimp and grits were perfectly seasoned and great portions. Looking forward to a return trip.
The food was really good and our server, Ted, was great. When we didn’t like our drink he offered a new one. Although times are weird with the pandemic, I felt safe there. The tables were spaced properly and the bathrooms were clean. The truffle fries and the risotto were amazing. And the best thing we ordered was the squash casserole. Definitely a great option for dinner!
A great dining experience - celebrating a birthday!
Kathleen, our server, was such a delight. She was very pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. I appreciated that when I received a confirmation call, I was informed that outside seating was first-come-first-served and was encouraged to arrive early to ensure a spot. We were the first to arrive and therefore had no issues obtaining a spot outside. The food was everything we hoped it would be, fresh, local, and beautiful presentation. We'll definitely be back!
One of my favorite spots, consistently amazing food, top notch cocktails and friendly, attentive staff.
Attentive service. Average food. Good attention to Covid safety.
Our waitress, Jill, was absolutely wonderful and the food was divine!
