The Market Place Restaurant
Sunday brunch was delicious. The biscuits and grits were especially delightful. And then there’s the bacon...yum!
Excellent food and service
This place is wonderful for brunch! The restaurant is very nice with a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. Both the food and service were wonderful. Would highly recommend this place.
Food and service were great. I think all 6 of us enjoyed a varied menu from steak, pasta and pork shoulder - all the entrees were very good.
Love this place!
Fabulous food, great service from our waiter, Leo.
We visited The Market Place last week for a late dinner. My wife had the roasted mushroom soup which she enjoyed and we shared a cheese plate. My wife had the rabbit gnocchi. She loved the rabbit and the gnocchi and thought they were prepared perfectly. I had the pork shoulder with collard greens and a griddled spoon bread with a delicious sauce. A really great meal with some delicious cocktails. Recommend this place to hang out, take in the live music, or simply have a quiet meal in the dining room. Service was very good, too.
Wonderful food and ambiance. Of the 4 evening meals we had in Asheville, this was the best
This was our first visit to The Market Place. The cocktails and food were both very good, and the service was outstanding. Our server was very helpful and made good suggestions. My wife had the salmon and said it was delicious. At the suggestion of our server, I had the pork and it was outstanding. Appetizers, side dishes and dessert were all very enjoyable.
The food and staff are always great at The Market Place. The cheese plate and quail were great, and the wine was phenomenal. They always have a great selection of wines and options for different types of food. Always fresh and great combination of tastes on each and every dish.
Only thing I was not impressed with was the dessert menu.
Delicious mussels !
Great food, professional service, cool place
We were seated immediately upon arrival in their upstairs dining room and our table overlooked the bar area so we could see and listen to the small combo that happened to be playing. The wait person was very efficient and attentive and the food we had was very good. I wouldn’t hesitate to dine there again.
I lived in Asheville for 15 years and this was one of my favorites. Still too notch food and service. I had the seared scallops and grits and it was fabulous! Will definitely keep it on my list of the best!
Great food and service
A fave place. Great everything.
Great food at affordable price. Good value for the cost. Great wine and cocktail list as well.
Outstanding service! Brunch menu was delicious! Location and atmosphere was greet too! Must try if you are downtown Asheville!
Food was delicious. The service was great.
Food and service were outstanding! Definitely cant wait to go back. Highly recommend for delicious fresh food!
This was my first time eating at the Market Place and will definitely be back. The food was great, definitely one of the best we went to for our long weekend in Asheville. The truffle fries are a must order
We were dismayed to find upon arrival only a "special" Valentine's Day menu. This greatly limited options, forced us to pay for a dessert that as pre-diabetics we had no interest in, and though the salad and entree were very good it was very poor value. To Marketlace we say, "elevator, elevator we locals got the shaft! umph!".
Prix fix menu for Valentines. Good appetizers. Main dish - beef tenderloin was cold and dry. Good service.
I took my wife here for our first trip since my daughter was born and it was Valentine’s Day, I enjoyed all three courses that I selected but my wife did not like her first choice luckily I did so I ate hers. Our waiter was wonderful and the environment was fantastic.
For a set menu it was very good. Our server was stellar !
Possibly the best meal I've ever had. Wonderful evening. Hard to hear the music next to the window....a very minor issue.
We are here for our anniversary.
It was the second time we ate at this restaurant in the same week. The service, food and the location excellent. You can park at the wall Street garage and walk to the restaurant in just a few minutes.
The staff is warm, welcoming and excellent at what they do. The food is chef level.
The food was amazing and staff was very accommodating. We had a great experience.
Great evening. Great recommendations from the server. Recommend the fried shrimp, picked vegetables, and the steak. Berry cake was delicious.
We love Market Place. Brunch and dinner both favorites.
Overall the food was quite good. My husband and I shared a mixed green salad which was very good. My husband enjoyed a large plate, Rabbit Gnocchi which he said was good. I , on the other hand ordered a small plate of fried shrimp, flavor was good but unfortunately the shrimp had not been cleaned I I was also treated to sandy grit. Won't ordered that again!
Food was very good, but a little pricey.
Not only was the food incredibly delectable, our server was so knowledgeable and helpful on helping us choose our meals.
The steak was super tough there was very little accompanyment for this main course.
The scallops cooked very unevenly
I had 4 scallops, 3 looked like the were raw, 1 super dark & match the 2 on my fiance's plate.
The scallops were also stringy and tasted like a chemical solution... Not impressed
Drinks were good.
Troy: The restaurant was nice but the floor was freshly polished so the odor was disturbing. My pork shoulder was disappointingly cool. And the spoon bread, all the delicious, was clearly not straight out of the oven. The top of my kale was cool in the bottom warm. The flavors were delicious, but for $87 for two people I expect the food to be perfect.
Tiffanie: The winter squash fritter appetizer was much more like a dessert, I do not remember anything savory about it and it was way too sweet. The chili appetizer was tiny and the corn bread was almost called. Once again the flavors were good but paying as much as we did I expected it to be excellent and it just wasn’t
We have had better experiences in the past at this restaurant. But won’t return for a while at least.
The food was great. Our server was not the best. I would come back to experience the dinner menu/environment!
We had a great time at the Market Place- the food was awesome and really well priced. I would definitely recommend!
The mussels were delicious, but the entree of scallops were not very good. I think the scallops were under done and didn’t enjoy the flavor of the sauce. Too Smokey. The music was amazing.
Thank you for taking the time to review The Market Place, AVL's oldest Farm-To-Table Restaurant since 1979. We strive to offer the best Food, Service and Ambiance the hospitality industry has to offer and are truly sorry that you did not enjoy our scallops, a guests favorite. We are always happy to make adjustments to our cuisine & prefer to remedy a situation "table-side" so please don't hesitate to let us know something is not to your liking. We hope to see you again soon. Thank you.
Music was a bit loud for a quiet dinner conversation. Terrific food, good service - staff seemed proud of the restaurant's history and tradition as farm to table.
The Market Place Restaurant is our favorite in Asheville. My husband and I took our neighbors out to dinner there on Friday. Everyone raved about the food and ambience. The mushroom/onion soup is outstanding. Their green salad is always wonderful. I usually have the salmon. However, I had the scallops with grits and they were also incredible. The ambiance is wonderful, the service is impeccable. The general manager, Justin, makes sure everyone is taken care of, that the food is superb and that everything is perfect during your meal. Zoe, the hostess, is so friendly and inviting--a great start to your evening. I highly recommend it.
