The Obstinate Daughter - Sullivans Island
We had a yummy meal at OD! We shared a few dishes and all were fantastic ! We really loved the lamb collar! Service was amazing !! Loved the vibe and decor of this place !!
Thanks again to our favorite restaurant for providing an excellent dining experience. An extra special thank you for being so supportive of us bringing our newborn son. Look forward to many more anniversary dinners here!
The food was incredible! Service was top-notch! I would highly recommend this restaurant! It was a little loud and parking was tricky but well worth it!!
Love this place. Always fresh and wait staff is accommodating to the needs of the diners. Whether lunch or dinner, food is consistently good. Noise level can sometimes be a little high. Don't miss Beard Cats downstairs for gelato.
Food is always great!
Kelly, our server is very knowledgeable and attentive.
Maybe the best pizza crust I've eaten. Freshest food with great taste accents. Not a bad choice on the menu.
Food and service were both outstanding. Thank you.
We all really e joyed it
Always a really good dinner! It would be even better if they brought back the carrot cake!
One of the best meals I have ever had. I had a short rib rigatoni that was very tasty. my partner had a shrimp pizza, which we shared. Thin and delicious. We also shared the Mediterranean mussels which were terrific. The service was great, the atmosphere was cozy and the special touches were on spot. Highly recommended and would return any time in the area.
Very nice attractive spot. Food was made on the spot in kitchen. Lively
Fabulous fresh seafood!!
Obstinate Daughter is our go-to restaurant when we have visitors, when we want to get together with friends or when we just want a great meal without driving downtown. I love the oysters, the ricotta gnocchi, almost any appetizer and most of the specials. O/D is always busy, but we've never had a problem with friendly or attentive service. Parking is the biggest problem, but, once you get there, it's a divine experience.
Third time dining at OD - love the atmosphere, locations and unique and delicious food - definitely recommend!!
Most amazing meal we have ever had. Not one negative aspect of the dinner!!!
Awesome restaurant. Menu creative. Great drinks. Repeat visit for us. When in Sullivan's Island, we will be back!. Can't go wrong with this establishment. Just make sure you get a
reservation in advance.
Lunch was good but I was hoping for breakfast. The Brie was good to start with followed by the pasta with foie gras. The red wine was good. There is limit parking nearby. The restaurant is located on the second level on Sullivan's Island.
This was our first visit, but it will certainly not be the last! We were pleasantly surprised by the unusual menu selections - from appetizers all the way thru desert! And the taste and presentation was excellent! Highly recommend for lunch or dinner.
Took a business acquaintance for his first time. Despite Anna tormenting me throughout, he's coming back. Actually the food is always awesome and Anna is the best.
A REAL GEM!!!! BEST PIZZA EVER. OB is an awesome place, beautifully decorated. Great service and food...a must visit when in Charleston area.
Great meal @ the Obstinate Daughter. Nice local regional food selections, as well as a really appetizing pizza menu that we had to resist dipping into, as we wanted a lighter and varied lunch. Great, well-branded look of the environment (& Staff too) - Except for a momentary bit of confusion on access to a booth for 2 (which we did get, as the place wasn't packed) very good vibes and excellent food. Will be back next time we're on Sullivan's Island.
What a treat! Our waiter suggested we pick an itme from each section & do share plates & that was the way to enjoy this great spot. Started with 1 doz raw oysters- 3 different sauces.
Brussel sprout dish was amazing! This is the way to eat your veggies. Pasta delicious and so was the pizza. same room for dessert.
Loved the atmosphere & service wa top notch. Full bar & nice wine/beer choices.
Top recommendation. Don;t go without reservations.
We just moved to town and found a second home!
Charming space on beautiful Sullivan's Island. Worth the short ride out of Charleston. Small plates are large enough for a dinner but the house-made gnocchi and pizzas as entrees are irresistible! Staff is outstanding -- knowledgable and so enthusiastic! Loved everything about it!
Obstinate Daughter is our favorite restaurant, for the quality of the food, the great service and the fact that we don't have to drive downtown to get a fine-dining experience. I love the oysters at OD, and all the appetizers are great. My husband is a huge fan of the octopus. We also love the pasta with short ribs. I miss the berry cobblers and look forward to their return with cooler weather. The only problem is finding a parking place on busy weekend nights.
Food was delicious and waiter was very friendly and helpful. Also knowledgeable about the menu. Would definitely recommend!
This was our 3rd visit to OD - food was amazing and our waitress was fantastic. Definitely worth the price! Can't wait to come back in Oct!
Had an amazing meal with family here last weekend. Normally don't love sharing, but we did share numerous plates, and had just the best meal. Thanks for feeding us!!! Drinks were good, too.
Knowledgeable and friendly staff. Outstanding food. We are from Florida and were on vacation. We will be back. Husband loved the sweetbreads.
Have been there before - usually really good ambiance, great laid back and relaxing feel, but for some reason they were blaring rap music on a Tuesday night. Really killed the vibe of the night. Service was fine, food was great, but they rushed us in and out in less than an hour - for drinks and food. Not what I expect when I'm trying to have a nice date night, relax with nice food and drink, take our time etc. That's what we've been able to do on previous dates there, but goodness that certainly was not the case this time. Not what I expected from previous experiences at O/D. If that's the new norm there, we won't be back. The food is amazing though so I'm sure we will give it another shot - hopefully just an off night.
Most professional server we had in our 6 days in Charleston. Anna you are a fun person! Great vibe and fabulous food. Don't miss the ricotta & goat cheese gnocchi - short rib ragu.
My husband and I have dined at the OD several times. We have never been disappointed. This reservation was made at the last minute, and all that was available were early times. But that was fine with us since we were hungry.
When we arrived, I asked for a booth - since they were all empty. The hostess said that they were for people with reservations (which I had). But I didn't press it.
The raw oysters and the mushroom/egg salad were divine! My husband really enjoyed his pasta. I ordered the tile fish special. It was good, but a little too salty and a little over cooked.
Overall, a good dinner!
Surprisingly wonderful experience. Great food, imaginatively presented. Young chefs added a modern twist on traditional dishes. We wanted to try everything! A definite gem in Charleston, SC. It was so good we drove back the next day for lunch. Thanks for two great meals!
Wonderful! Great service. Best food on Sullivan's Is. Chris, our waiter made our dining experience a perfect one!!
Fantastic restaurant! Delicious salads, pasta, and desserts. Excellent service. Great cocktails. Beautiful decor. Just a great restaurant!
We have been to OB many times but this was the first time this September, Found that there were a number of menu changes which are normally good but not so much this time. Teri had the pear salad . I don't know how they found the only prosciutto in the world with no flavor and a lack of salt but they did. In fairness once cooked the salumi did show its salt. I had a half dozen east coast oysters which were small an so so.
We ordered the garganelli with peas and it was superb , just the right balance of sauce and pasta. I had the sweet breads and here I feel the kitchen fell off the tracks by trying to do too much.
Sweetbreads are delicate and when sauteed quickly or poached it allows the flavor and texture of the glands to stand out. Here the kitchen wrapped the glands in prosciutto and deep fried them. The result was that the salt and the cure from the prosciutto completely overwhelmed the sweetbreads. I might as well have been eating fried chicken fingers for all the nuance that was present.
While disappointed this time we will be back as we have had excellent meals here and the menu will be changing this week as we head into fall.
Love this place! Great service and awesome, fresh food. The beet and ricotta salad is amazing as it the fish and clam pasta. I love everything I have tried here. Will be back!!
We went on a Sunday evening in mid September so it wasn't difficult to park, but in season it be a challenge.
We came here for a celebration of my daughters 29 th birthday. This place was perfect because young and "old" would appreciate the innovative and delicious foods, fun beer choices, good wines and comfy booths! It also helped that our server was terrific. He was well versed on the menu, and he was accommodating!
Really great experience.
Extraordinary experience for me and my companion. She had the Eggs in Purgatory and her facial expression with each bite told the story. I went with the Ricotta Ginocchi and was equally impressed. Too full for dessert but I purchased the cinnamon bun with carmel and pecans to go for breakfast the next day; the best cinnamon roll ever. In addition our server was attentive and had a joyous personality which only enhanced the dining experience. I look forward to frequent visits.
