   Food is incredible. The service is exceptional. Very extensive wine and champagne list with some rare finds. Sommelier is one of the best I’ve I’ve encountered anywhere. Highly recommend.

   We did not have a good experience. We are long-term fans of eating in Indian restaurants. We arrived on time for an 815 reservation and were promptly seated. We ordered and told the waiter we would also want dessert. From that point on the service was quite slow. As far as the food goes, the lentil soup was good, the hummus appetizer was good, and the naan bread was good. However, the chicken tikka with rice, entrée was substandard, and the chicken tikka masala was perhaps the worst we have ever had. When the waiter finally returned at the end of the meal, we said we wanted to order two desserts. He looked at his watch and said; “oh I’m sorry, the kitchen is closed”. It was 9:01. Both desserts we wanted were something that you can scoop out and put in a dish. If his service would’ve been timely, we would’ve ordered dessert by 8:45. We pass through Lincoln often and this is our first and last visit to this restaurant.

    Waiter forgot our appetizer. Had a reservation yet still waited 20 minutes for our table. We felt rushed by our waiter. Was charged extra for asking for an extra serving of rice even though we only received two rice sides when three entrees were ordered. Waiter messed up our bill. Food was good but ambiance and poor service made it not worth it.

    This was my first time trying The Oven. My friend recommended it because every time she ate there she had great food and service. The food was very good and the waiter we had made great suggestions. The only thing that wasn’t good was some dry fried chicken that was in an appetizer sampler. Also, we had ordered some bread that you’d expect to brought out with the food but it arrived after we were done eating. It was good bread though. I think they underestimated how busy they were going to be and were understaffed. I made a reservation for 5:45 pm because part of my party had a show to go to. Typically a dinner for 4 takes about an hour. I don’t think we left till 7:30 pm. Part of my party had to leave cash and go. There were several times we needed drinks refilled such as wine and cocktails. I don’t mind waiting for those. However, when you have spicy food, water is a must. The waiter tried his hardest but clearly he had more tables then he could handle. I think overall I’d try it again, because the food was really good.

    It was very busy. It took a while for a server to get to our table, it looked like they were short-staffed. But we understand there are employee shortages so we were glad we did not have after dinner plans. Husband had chicken tikka masala and I had the salmon madras. Food was great, as usual.

    We were initially put off by the indifference of the hostess. She sat us at a dirty table. We asked her to clean it off. Gave it a quick wipe and left some food still in the chair. We tracked her down and got the rag ourselves. This alarmed us based on a previous review we read about a server who treated those folks the same. We almost left but stayed once we knew the hostess was not our server. Turns out our server was terrific. Affable, attentive, etc. And the food was outstanding. We were driving cross country and will be coming back thru in a couple of weeks, so will plan to go back.

    We ate an early dinner outside in the busy Haymarket on a Friday. Our server did a great job with us, giving us time to relax, decide, and to enjoy our meal. The hummus and naan was delicious and smooth; the lamb dish was tender and very tasty. And the wine selection was very good.

    The Oven is one of our favorite restaurants and reliably good food and service. The wine list is A+ for variety in every price range. By-the-glass is a good value and you can rely on the wine fitting to flavors of the East Indian dishes. The best mulligatawny soup in Lincoln IOHO.

    We had a delicious meal at The Oven, everything was absolutely perfect. Including the wine, the person who helped us with the wine made a very planned and thoughtful recommendation- it was delicious! We sat outside on the patio which was so enjoyable except for the cars and trucks with ridiculous muffler noise- which is no way The Ovens fault or responsibility but I wish that the noise ordnance would be respected. But again, not The Ovens issue to fix! The Oven just has beautiful Indian food so dialed in Lincoln- you will not be disappointed!
