The Owl at Twilight
I wanted a special meal for a special occasion and Mark and his fantastic chef exceeded our expectations. Great to have such a wonderful restaurant so close to home. We will be waiting with craving appetites' for your reopening in the spring of 2021.
Can't wait for you to re-open again in 2021! My husband and I enjoyed dinner on the last day of this season. It was delicious. Better than we expected. Friendly service, nice atmosphere, excellently prepared appetizers and main courses. Fresh and tasty. Wine menu was priced reasonably and selection was decent.
Raspberry pie was pretty good too!
Adirondack elegance! We very much enjoyed our dinner at the Owl! There aren't many fine dining options available, but it's worth the trek to get to the Owl. The owner is so attentive and runs a very nice restaurant with great food, staff, service, ambiance, etc. It is well suited for the current pandemic challenges with patio and outdoor dining, and chef Sue has some great menu items - I tried the ribs again and it was wonderful!
Excellent! Friendly, helpful and welcoming.
It would have been excellent, but the proprietor was wearing his mask under his nose, and said” I’m done with masks.” This was very upsetting. We considered leaving, but the hour was late and there was really no alternative. The food was good and the waitstaff other than the manager properly masked. We ate out on screening porch. The proprietor also seemed to hold a grudge because he offered other dinners blankets and a space heater but not us til we had been there for an hour and were done with our meals. It was very disenheartening and ruined the evening.
Food was great. Service was good. Very confused on the martini pour charge
We sat on the screened in porch even though it was 50 F as we had warm blankets on our legs. Service was friendly and prompt. Food was excellent. So glad we dined here again!
we were dining inside the staff were haphazard about keeping their masks on their faces.
other than that it was great
amazing restaurant in the middle of nowhere.......
Off the beaten path but well worth it. Food was excellent which is sometimes hard to find in the North Country.
Absolutely a must visit. Menu was creative and well thought out.
A very nice meal served on a screen porch. The food and service were better than we had found elsewhere in the area.
The overall experience was just okay. They had limited menu items and it was a bit pricey for the quality and amount of food. It took a while for the server to take our order even though they're weren't busy. Then our food took a while to arrive as well. I wasn't fond of the owner not wearing a mask during Covid and he was a little rude. This was our first and last time there.
I'm guessing this guest hasn't been out to eat during the Virus. Yes, because of precautions food WILL come out slower. Also, because of the virus and being slightly understaffed we do have a limited menu. I can guarantee I WAS wearing a mask. I may have dropped it down briefly for a moment if a guest asked me to b/c they could not hear me. I'm never rude. Once again with masking things can be misconstrued. People have to realize dining is different now and we are risking our lives to serve you.
Always enjoy our time at the Owl. Mark and company make you feel welcome and food is spectacular !
This was a totally unexpected and wonderful dinner. Our first really special meal out in 6 months. Although there were tables available inside in the dining room, we opted to sit in the screened in porch, since it was a nice evening. Good choice- it had rained earlier and the air was fresh and cool. We overlooked the vegetable garden which provides some of the produce for the restaurant.
Dinner began with kale Caesar served with fried capers- great addition. Also a fresh burrata salad with prosciutto. For entrees we had the halibut special served with saffron rice. Very delicate and cooked perfectly. Husband had the NY strip with peppercorn sauce, served with fingerling potatoes. The steak was really tender- not chewy or fatty at all. Sauce was lick the plate delicious. For dessert we shared the key lime mousse, which was light and refreshing.
The evening could not have been more perfect. When it became dark out, the garden was lit with white lights, and the owner a Mark dimmed the lights on the porch. It became very romantic, but not so dark that we couldn't see each other, or our plates. We realized that our anniversary was coming up in the next week (35 years!)...during this crazy time of the pandemic, we had totally forgotten! So this really was our anniversary dinner.
The Owl at Twilight is a very special place in a fairly remote location. We came to the area to do the Revolution Railbike. I'm not sure if the patrons are locals or tourists visiting the area, but whoever dines here will not be disappointed. Food is treated with respect and care, and the service is warm and professional.
It was fabulous
Great night out at the Owl at Twilight - will definitely go back!
Last day of our Adirondack vacation!
The proprietor and waitresses were friendly and engaging. The food was delicious, and the atmosphere was fun and lively (but not too lively)with the music playing out in the back yard.
Best seafood stew ever...in a setting that is relaxing
Beware of the Service and owner . Open table rez for 7:30 arrived at 7:15 , party of 6 . Marc Owner told us our table was having desert it would be a few minutes . Finally seated at 8:10 . (40 min wait ) Poor and slow service continued . . Order drinks , wait 20 minutes , gin in tonic horrible , no gin in it . Owner served the drinks and told us not to be STUPID and use the coaster . ( insulting ) Oder appetizers and dinner , 20 minute wait for appetizer . Mine never came out , server said the owner Marc took it to Another table . Served dinner at 9:40 , a Full 1 .5 hours after we sat. After 2 hours and only two courses we asked for the check . Owner Marc Never came back to the table to apologize or ask about our experience . I had two more Advance open table rez for this place, cancelled And will not go back .
Guest was informed a table was ready inside but guest wanted to be seated on the porch. We have no way to tell how long current dining guests will be. Not sure if guest has been out dining during the virus but things take longer with the restrictions. Gin/tonics are always stronger at home when made yourself. ;-) Finally, I never said that about the coaster. Maybe he could not hear thru my mask that I was pointing there was a coaster for him to use. Our many great reviews speak for themselves.
Great place, we loved the fish of the day and desserts (flourless chocolate cake with vanilla/honey/rosemary ice cream and key lime mousse! Waitress was very nice!
Hidden gem in The Adirondacks! Cocktails were delicious and the food was fresh and amazing! We sat on the screen porch which I would highly recommend on a summer night. I noticed garden seating available as well but that can be a bit buggy at night. We did have to wait a bit for our main course but everything was hot and fresh. The service was great and so friendly
Great time at the Owl! The new garden dining handled the large crowd for the ‘sound check’ live music night. Everyone was well spaced, staff took extra precautions too (they never touch plates/utensils - always held with a napkin). Owl is known for it’s great food, professional service, nice folks - we’ll be back soon!!!
We had a lovely evening. Service was a bit slow and haphazard, but I am sure it is just because of COVID restrictions, making it hard.
Food was really good, and interesting. Ambience was nice.
Owner and waitress were very friendly.
Thank you for your input. Yes, you are correct. COVID restrictions do slow us slightly but we want to have everyone safe.
The best restaurant I've been to in a long time. Excellent menu
Great place, wonderful food, friendly service, but if you're remotely in a hurry, just drive on by. 2 hours from start to finish for two people and I still had to go find someone to get the check.. I think they need more help.
Thank you for your input. Things are different now with COVID and restrictions. Service will be slightly slower. At the Owl dinner for two will be 1.5-1.75 hours normally and since we are always busy it may take a bit longer. We also make EVERYTHING from scratch and to order. Certainly if you are in a hurry please let us know in the onset and we will do everything we can to speed up if we are able to but the Owl operates at a slower more relaxed pace than most standard restaurants.
My wife and I stopped here on our honeymoon and had a wonderful experience. The service was fantastic and the food kept us wanting more. Very good entrees, apps, and deserts. Well worth the price. We will be stopping here again often in the future.
Excellent food. Great service. We hope to repeat the experience soon.
A special place as I say in a small town in Adirondacks. Worth a drive on a nice night. Mark the owner is a gracious host and superb barkeep and his wonderful chef turned out some tasty apps and dinners. Will be back soon.
Not the greatest night out but not the worst. The welcome was interesting but weird. The wine was poured and splattered all over me with not a word of acknowledgement.
The food was okay but certainly not worth the drive. Seems like the locals enjoy it.
So happy that The Owl was able to open. Looking forward to many more meals there this summer.
Food is always delicious, drinks are fantastic, and the owner is a truly genuine host. We go back as often as we can!
Amazing food! The owner Mark is great. Our server Val was friendly and attentive! We have been enjoying this restaurant for 3 years. Highly recommended!
Excellent! Can’t wait to go back.
Celebrated our anniversary just days after they opened post-Covid 19. We are on their screened in porch- socially distanced! Had terrific apps- shrimp ceviche ( served in a large glass with a melange of crunchy veggies, lettuce, lime juice and a hint of chili!) and scallops that were perfectly prepared! Entrees included a tasty steak with excellent sauce and salmon that was cooked to order. Had a bottle of a Montepulciano too. In b all a lovely, relaxed dinner. Our problem is that unless they expand their very small menu, return visits will be far and few between. Hope they understand that.
Thank you for joining us for your anniversary! It was a pleasure to serve you! We started with a smaller menu because of the circumstances as most restaurants are doing. In the next few weeks we will be expanding the menu to include more items. In the meantime we will also add various specials each night in addition to the menu. At the Owl we will never have a large menu with numerous items because everything is made from scratch and we want everything to be fresh. Hope to see you again soon!
Food was pretty good. Best up that way, and the owner really seems to care. He handles all front of house duties and I would be happy to come back again. Hopefully to have the prime rib be in stock next time!
Food and service were both amazing. Lots of fun. Very warm and inviting atmosphere.
In all aspects, a really perfect meal.
Spectacular, as usual! It was crowded, folks were waiting for tables (glad we had a reservation), but service was still great and the food was wonderful. Kudos to Mark for such a great place! See you next season!
