Lovely 3 course meal in a quiet setting with a view of the sea. Very good service and did was very good. Would return.
Perfect setting for a special meal. The food and service was exceptional.
Had Sunday lunch. Terrace menu is so limited and lacks coherence. Not a Sunday lunch menu of a 4 star hotel. Fish goujons, chips and peas is offered as a starter! Even despite severely limited menu the moules had sold out as had the pork cutlets. It felt like a chaotic bunch of amateurs running a festival pop up, although the price is that of a 4 star hotel. Very disappointing. I was really wanting to support a local business. They don’t deserve the support. £167 for a mediocre Sunday lunch for a family of 4. Not acceptable.
The Point Restaurant at The Haven continues to serve very high quality food and wine at reasonable prices, even though the interior is now rather bare because of hygiene considerations during covid19. But that view!
Very enjoyable surroundings great food lovely staff
We had Sunday roast dinner for 4 people and we all agreed that it was the best quality roast ever. We had a lovely sea view table. We will be booking again.
Hi,
We were greeted by a friendly waiter and taken to our table which was by the window as what we asked for.The food was really good as was the waiter service.Really pleased with the meal ,Good all round service, and would recommend.

I have several food allergies and the staff accommodated next extremely well. It has been a long time since I could enjoy food from the menu without concern.
Well done to the chef and all the team. Thank you
Average meal in a tired hotel
Was a lovely experience, the food was of a very good quality. And the service was excellent! Would definitely return.
Only go in occasionally for a lovely hot chocolate and to relax and admire the view. Would visit more but It’s hotel prices, and I do understand that!!! Lovely ambience , highly recommend.
Food was lovely, service was incredibly fast friendly ant attentive without being intrusive, confetti and rose on table was lovely touch, overall a very enjoyable evening
Fantastic food and very attentive and friendly service
The menu was trying to be sophisticated but was executed extremely poorly. The service was slow as they had very few staff working and every plate was thrown down in front of us. Out of about 10 tables, 4 had severe complaints at the table due to waiting 40-80 mins for various courses. The food was overcooked, salty and the duck salad was inedible. We complained later to the hotel reception as it wasn’t the waiters fault and they kindly gave us a refund. Sad way to spend our 5 year anniversary!
The only menu available for lunch on 08/12/2019 was an overpriced set menu (i.e. £37.50 for 3 courses) a with very limited choice for each course. The main fish course "fish medley" was mostly potato with a very small portion of what appeared to be stale fish. There was no "a la carte" menu and no "Christmas Menu", despite both of these being advertised on the hotel's dining web site. There were also almost no customers (perhaps 3 tables only) and the hotel gave the impression of being about to close down. Unfortunately, we had invited guests to join us, otherwise we would have declined the overpriced set menu (the only one available) and dined elsewhere.
We were kept waiting at the entrance for several minutes despite arriving exactly at the time of our booking and their appearing to be many staff around. It was my 60th birthday and this very shoddy treatment was both upsetting but surprising. I was with my sister and couldn’t help feeling that if I had been my husband, we wouldn’t have had to wait, very depressing in 2019.
Always excellent in every aspect. My favourite restaurant.
Really lovely afternoon tea. Great service with a fabulous view.
The whole experience was amazing and I will be recommending it to any of my friends and colleagues as well
I wouldn’t just recommend this to a friend, I’d shout it from the rooftops.
One of the best places I’ve eaten out all year.
We came from another local hotel under a recommendation, and we were not disappointed. To put it into context, the two diners I brought with me were Michelin trained chefs.
First of all the waiting staff were fantastic, with good pace without over the top lingering. They had superb product knowledge, knowing all the ingredients involved in each of the dishes on the 6 course tasting menu.
The chefs tasting menu was a delight, from the first course we knew it’d be special. With the subtle but important pre-warmed soup spoon.
The dishes were served impeccable well cooked (pigeon being particularly tricky). Packed full of flavour that was matched with great skill. Pairing ingredients together had clearly been a focus of the team here with delightful combinations of seasonal produce.
All the dishes were delightful, beef was one companion’s favourite; another the turbot and risotto. Mine? The apple sorbet with cranberry sherbet.
I hope you book a table and enjoy a wonderful evening or lunch at The Point.
The service was excellent and the ambience was calm. The setting of the tables was romantic and it felt quite private. Lovely range of courses and it was hard to choose what to have it all sounded so beautiful. We ate there twice and were very happy both times
We booked for a special occasion as we were also staying at the hotel. The menu was limited but I ordered from the daily menu and my husband ordered from the chefs specials. We were totally underwhelmed and disappointed. The standard of food did not match the pricing and we felt the menu just didn’t work.
Attractive contemporary restaurant with a beautiful seaview. Comfortable seating and professional, attentive service. A carefully thought out menu offering table d'hote and a la carte dishes . Good wine list. Food is impeccably presented and thought out, visually very attractive and is a fusion of flavours and textures making for an excellent eating experience. Highly recommended.
Fantastic food, amazing staff especially the lady manager. Lamb was amazing. Cannot recommend enough.
Excellent food, super staff and service, really good ambience.
Overall food was excellent but with the exception of the trainee waiter who was also excellent and very attentive, below average service let down this restaurant. Other staff were not attentive and it was often hard to get someone’s attention to remind them of things that had been forgotten (eg butter was delivered to our table but not bread, and there was a long gap of over half an hour between our main and dessert).
Good food and location but service not so good. Hotel looking a bit tired?
I have booked a table for my family for Sunday Roast on 18th Aug. Surprisingly noticed that in peak season there were only two tables in the main restaurant which is quite disappointing.
The service and food were amazing. However, I believe that £19 for Sunday roast is very pricey hence few customers.
The food was very nice but the portions were very small.
Wonderful views to enjoy your meal very friendly staff
I have seen reviews on here and must say i do not agree the night me and my other half had was amazing. The food was great tasting and looked above and beyond what i was expecting. The service was polite and on point and the location is to die for. A big thank u to all whi made our night so special. If you are looking for a romantic dinner i can not reccomend this place more . Again thank u so much for a wonderful evening
We went for lunch on a Thursday so the restaurant was not at all busy, although there was a wedding reception in the hotel. It was my husbands 70th birthday. We arrived in good time and had a drink in the bar, which has great views over the bay, and is light and airy, but in need of an update.
The restaurant was lovely, much better decor and furniture. The food was good, we ordered light bites as a starter, both were very nice but absolutely no garnish. Haddock and chips, looked more appetising but the batter was thick and not cooked through.
Having mentioned to the lady behind the bar it was my husbands birthday, and because she showed an interest and asked how old he was, I was hoping for some recognition. Not free food, but maybe some piped writing on his plate to say happy birthday, I’ve seen this done before, it’s a nice personal touch, but I’m sorry to say there was nothing. No one said anything and lunch was over, costing £70 for the food and two glasses of wine. I was disappointed, I had high hopes for this meal but it was actually nothing special.
Delicious food, however a little pricey! Portion sizes were fairly small.
Another nice meal with good service. However food was not as good as usual. Not sure whether they are on a cost cutting spree or new chef?
The location is very good. At the moment in full school holiday mode.
Meal was marred by a very unpleasant incident with a very officious and rude lady as we left the dining room. She first of all insisted that we hadn’t paid the bill. Then said we had paid the wrong bill! We were marched back to the table, where the waitress managed to convince her that we had paid!! A disappointing ending to a nice evening with friends who had come to stay with us for the weekend!
Nice restaurant overlooking the sea. Bit expensive but nicely served in an unhurried way. Limited choice but suited us.
The food was good, but there was only 1 main vegetarian option, which was really disappointing.
Lovely restaurant. Service was very good. Food excellent. Ask for tap water. The bottled water was £4.20!
We ate at this restaurant for our 10th Wedding Anniversary. We had a fabulous evening and loved the views out of the window. Truly was a magical evening with a fabulous waitress Lynette who made sure our visit was welcoming. The food was delicious and would highly recommend before this venue shuts down in a few years time.
Would absolutely recommend that you book here. Found prices reasonable. Food superb. We both had the deep fried prawns to start. I had the sole as a main and my partner the seafood curry. Both yummy. The sole was the best I have had.
The views across Poole harbour were gorgeous. Definitely try get a seat where you can take advantage of the views. Early Booking essential.
Food was nice though we found the menu very limited.
It’s quite overpriced for what you got but I think here you are paying for the location. Unfortunately we didn’t get a table with a sea view so that wasn’t really of any benefit to us.
Food is amazing, all beautifully presented and wonderful infusions. Ambience is none existent, only thing worth looking at is the ferry going back and forth. Service was terrible, you have to pour your own wine, cannot find anyone to ask for more water, not offered a coffee or after dinner drink. Not a place to feel relaxed or for a special occasion more like a pub bistro.
