Had a great evening celebrating my partners birthday at The Pointe. We were over-looking the monument, had excellent service and their lobster gnocchi was outstanding. Thanks for taking care of us.
Great Bday Celebration with my husband..great food and service...a wonderful nite
Once again the Pointe outdid itself as a fine dining experience in winter Provincetown. We started with crispy Brussel sprouts in maple bacon butter (made famous by nearby Canteen), mains included two pound lobsters, a pork tenderloin with butternut squash gnocchi and Tuscan Cod. All cooked to perfection and very tasty. A Cakebread Chardonnay paIred nicely. Lovely inner porch table with garden view, good service and a fine evening for the four of us. Good choice👍
My daughter and I had dinner st The Pointe this past weekend and the food was really disappointing. We had the escargot to start, which tasted like bland dirt served in a bowl of butter and cream. Like, a lot of cream. I didn't understand the presentation at all, and we didn't finish them. The deviled eggs were good, and I wish we'd had them for dinner rather than the very boring lobster gnocchi. The gnocchi was grainy and mushy and the lobster was unremarkable and scant. Perhaps the most disappointing thing was dessert. Maybe because the rest of the meal was so blah, dessert sounded like a great idea, but it was just sad. My daughter had the blueberry cobbler, which, like the escargot, made no sense. There were some blueberries in there but where was the cobbler part? There were just these odd-tasting, flabby almond slices all over the place but no substance whatsoever. The mouthfeel was like blueberries and fingernail clippings. I had the chocolate espresso torte and I assure you, you don't want one. I had a few bites and gave up. It was cold and dry and tasted like a refrigerator. I would not recommend this restaurant and won't return. It was all strikes and no hits, which makes me think it wasn't a one-off. It's a shame, too because it was warm and cozy and intimate- the prefect ambiance for a cold, winter night- and the service, while not anything amazing, was perfectly OK. The Point carries the appearance of fine dining but just doesn't deliver.
It was too busy and the meal took way to long. Made it unbearable. Look forward to trying again.
Great people and food! We sat on the porch and had a beautiful view of the Monument. Clothesline Bacon was so good!! Jaded Martini was so light and good. ;) staff was very attentive. Perfect romantic dinner. Go during week or less buy days. NOT Handicap accessible. Especially the bathroom. Multiple stairs.
What a great place. I have to go there many, many more times. Great staff, treat you like you are a VIP—and I am not one. Food was exquisite. The buffalo meatballs were outstanding. Also, the vegetarian lasagna and the chicken parm were as good if not better than my Italian grandmother from Italy. The gravy (sauces) was in the top 5 I have ever had in my 69 years. Beautifully appointed, we sat right next to the fireplace as they acknowledged our 20th anniversary. The deserts looked great but we were full from all of the homemade bread and homemade hummus we ate before and during the dinner. My wife felt the cosmopolitan was the best she had ever had. I cannot wait to come back and stay overnight there as well.
Every time I dine at the Pointe I remind myself to come more often. My husband and I came for Valentines Day. It was slammed - which can sometimes be concerning. But not here. The staff was amazing navigating what must have been a very stressful night. Cocktails were fantastic - generous pour as usual. And the food was up to its usual incredible standard. Can't recommend this place enough if you're in Provincetown.
It was Valentines Day, limited menu, food and service was good, actually waitress was very good! I was cold by the glass walls on the porch, inside the fireplace looked and felt awesome. Next time in the winter I would request a table inside.
This was a very good choice for dining out on New Year's Eve. The courses of the (5) were of a size that did not overwhelm and the timing of their being served was excellent. Our waiter was quite attentive and helpful.
Being New Year's Eve, one would expect a festive level of noise; this was the case!
I suspect we'd be back were we to be in P'town again for New Year's Eve.
Service was outstanding. The holiday decor made our special anniversary dinner even more delightful.
Fantastic food, service and venue. Everything was fantastic and would recommend to anyone!!
Food was exceptionally delicious. Between myself and the other 2 guests we had the lobster gnocci dish, the steak with frites and the baked cod. All were cooked perfectly, and had excellent flavor. The hummus with bread to start us off was also very good. Our server did an excellent job, she was friendly, attentive without being overbearing and we were very happy with everything. If in the area I would definitely go back to dine here, and I would also definitely recommend trying this place out.
We also chose to dine on the porch area which was very comfortable.
Loved the small bar and overall ambiance. Food was spot on and very friendly staff.
Thanksgiving dinner at The Point is a memorable experience but not in a good way. Extremely pricy but the food was reminiscent of wedding banquets I’ve endure — food prepared in large quantities with minimal care. The soup and the stuffing were over-spiced as if to hide their otherwise uninteresting natures. Turkey was dry and flavorless.
We were here for Thanksgiving. Food was delicious (and I didn’t have to cook!) and the service was outstanding.
We had a lovely meal. The service was exceptional. Our server was very attentive, pleasant, and always there when we needed them. The food was hot and very generous.
Overall a very nice meal. It does get very crowded on a busy night.we started with calamari, which was very nice. I had the clam chowder, which I found way too thick. Chowders should be thinner. Way too much use of roux to hide a very small amount of clams. Richard had the chix parm. As his entree. He enjoyed it. I had the roast chix, which was outstanding. For dessert we split the lemon pie. It should have had fresh lemon juice, reconstituted juice. Fresh lemon juice would have made it much more tart. Still overall it was a very good dinner.
Always hits a home run with service, good choice, preparation and presentation!
Amazing food and fantastic service! So glad to spend our last evening meal with you guys!!! Look forward to coming back and doing it all over again! The prime rib was so juicy and perfectly cooked. And of course the clam chowder. That was so good I forgot to photograph it!
We liked it so much we went back 2 nights later.
The food was good. However, the Brussels sprouts special appetizer was exceptional.
One thing that always bothers me at higher and restaurants is when a server comes to the table and has to ask who gets which dish. At a restaurant of this caliber, I think the servers should know which diner ordered what item, whether it's appetizers, cocktails, or entrees. Especially with just two people at the table.
the food was fine. the wait staff very friendly. But we were seated in a room with approximately 8 empty tables next to the only other occupied table with two very loud guests. I marked my reservation as a date and would have liked a quieter setting.
The food was excellent, the service impeccable and the ambience was amazing. I was there with my husband, cousin and her boyfriend. We all loved our meals and appetizers and the clam chowder was great too. They told us about some great deals in the wintertime that combine the inn, restaurant and spa. Hoping to be able to come back this winter and take advantage of it.
This past Thursday we had an early dinner at the Pointe restaurant in Provincetown MA. We arrived a bit before 5:30 and were the first people seated with a great view of the Pilgrim Monument. Our Host showed us the specials on a tablet computer screen. We ordered the roasted Brussel sprouts to share because the server told us the portion was more than generous and it was. It was also excellent!. Our entrees were also great/ I had the special Prime rib and my friend Ann had the lemon crusted cod which was also wonderful. We had coffee but were so full we did not even look at the menu.
We've been to The Pointe several times and we've never been disappointed. The service is always exceptional. The food is consistently good and while it's not a huge menu, they always have several specials. This visit we had the brussel sprout appetizer which was AMAZING - a little honey and a little heat - we loved them. The cocktails are creative and always a nice pour. The view is also lovely and parking is super convenient at the monument lot right next door. I think they could get overlooked since they are not on commercial street, but they shouldn't be missed.
Very few people that evening but food was delicious and service was excellent. Perfect venue for our last night on vacation.
Food was very average and wait staff was stretched too thin. Nice location and good view, however.
I've always heard mixed reviews about the Pointe over the last several years and decided to make my own assessment this past Saturday evening for a dear friend's birthday celebration.
We arrived a little early for our 5:30 reservation and went to the bar for a drink.
The bartender was friendly, professional, and very seasoned.
Joe, the manager, came to let us know our table was ready and showed us to a nice table overlooking Bradford St. We chatted with Joe for a bit, and he was very kind.
That is where the experience took a complete nose-dive!
Our server, Bobby, came over after we were sitting for quite some time and gave us some water.
He seemed very out of it, and had a loud nervous laugh that really startled us all.
He let us know he was new, and it seemed as though he was also new to waiting tables, as he did not return for about 12 minutes later to take an appetizer and drink order.
Being new to the Pointe, we had questions about the food, and Bobby did not seem very well-versed nor trained in the menu he was selling.
We made our selections for both appetizers, drinks, and entrees, and Bobby was off.
At the time, we were only one of a handful of tables in the restaurant, as it was early.
Bobby disappeared for long periods of time, and we missed the little things like refills on water, some bread, while we waited over 20 minutes for clam chowder and salad.
Each time Bobby came by, he took things off the table without asking, and this was really off-putting to myself and my guests during our special dinner.
At one point, he stacked all of our plates, and we let him know that we weren't done with the romaine heart salad; which was now on the bottom of the stack.
He apologized and put the salad back on the table!!
This continued throughout the meal with drinks and other items.
At one point, we had to let him know that he cleared an almost full Manhattan from the bar.
The errors continued through the end of the meal; including getting the wrong birthday dessert
Roddy, I would like to apologize for your experience at The Pointe restaurant last Saturday. We do not take your feedback lightly and always strive to make every guest experience an enjoyable one. I left my contact information in a private response. Please reach out at your earliest convenience if you are able. Kind regards, David
A beautiful setting with a full view of the Monument. Great location just off Bradford. Food is delicious.
Lovely restaurant setting in historic Provincetown with enclosed patio giving idyllic views of the Pilgrim Monument and Bradford street scene. The wait staff is professional, and the restaurant is associated with a very fine hotel. A short walk from the Macmillan Wharf and activities on Commercial street, it the perfect spot to wind up a days activities, or start an evening on the town. The food is top notch, with plenty of local seafood fresh from the boat. Great desserts and wine list make this a place one my family and I come back to year after year.
Food is always excellent; Bobby was a superb waiter.
I have gone to this restaurant for over ten years and never had a bad experience. This time, however, was completely different. The interior space was revamped in extremely dark colors and just about the entire staff was different. While our server was pleasant enough, she got the cocktail order totally wrong. Menu items that were always good had been dropped and replaced with others that were poorly thought out. One of the entree specials..the pork Milanese was actually inedible. Dessert fared no better and the coffee was extremely weak and tepid. It will be quite a while before I go back...if at all. It wasn’t broken and didn’t need to be fixed.
Thank you for dining with us so frequently over the last ten years. We are lucky to have a new and vibrant staff with us this year that is dedicated to making our guest experience superb. In the very rare chance an entree is, as you said above, inedible, our restaurant manager, Joseph, is always swift to take it back to the kitchen and offer an alternative. We always appreciate feedback during your meal so we can best assist you and make your dining experience with us a positive one.
Beautiful dining room and wonderful food. Service was a bit curt. Still, can highly recommend, and will return.
Best dining experience in Provincetown.. staff was wonderful and very knowledgeable
I'm glad you enjoyed your dining experience Hope to see you again! David
Beautiful spot for dinner in P-town. Great views of the Pilgrim Monument. Food was delicious and service was great. Reasonably priced for a touristy town. Not overly crowded and the fact it is not on Commercial Street is a welcome amenity.
Thanks for the great review! David
Our dining experience was a bit rushed as we were fitting in a meal before an evening show so we skipped appetizers and went straight to entree ordering. First time all of us experienced seeing the specials visually on a person device table side. Nice touch!
Felt like we waited quite a while for our meals but when they did arrive everyone was more than pleased and the staff was very nice.
Glad you enjoyed your dinner see you soon!
The service was excellent, food delicious!!! The white bean hummus and the tuna tartare were amazing!
Great food, wonderful service, we are looking forward to returning.
