The Porch Kitchen and Bar
Expensive and Low quality food and Small portion sizes.
I respect my friends and family far to much to recommend an average hotel and venue. HHI has FAR better to offer.
The setting and service was great, but the food and drinks were not.
Arrived: 8:30pm and said I had a reservation. The hostess seemed perplexed but sat us anyway. Band playing nearby. Great atmosphere at sundown.
Seated: same hostess said she would get us water because she wasn’t sure where our server was. No menus. After about 10 mins, still no water, the bartender came out and asked us if we had been helped. She was fantastic the rest of the night. Never saw the male waiter who was supposed to help us which was fine by me.
Food arrived 9:45pm was prepared well. Tasted great. Refills were on point by server.
About that time, another table who had arrived before us finally received their food after us from the male waiter we were supposed to have. The customer asked to see the manager because it had taken so long. The MANAGER did not apologize, in fact, she raised her voice and said she didn’t have to listen to him complain. Then she HAD THE MAN, his wife, his mother and son THROWN OUT OF THE RESTAURANT by security!!! UNREAL!!! She came out laughing about it in front of her staff and customers.
The shift manager should be fired. Accepted no responsibility for anything. It’s clear she doesn’t have control of the staff. Thank you to the personal heroics of the bartender for saving our night. With out her, I would have asked for the manager and would have potentially been humiliated in front of my family.
Images online made this place look like mire than what it is, which is a poolside hotel eatery. We were expecting something more. The menu was more limited than we expected and although we planned ahead to request indoor seating, the doors were all open so it was hot! Love the heat when we’re in the pool, not when we’re having dinner. Burgers did look good and fried shrimp was decent. Service was good, although as others have mentioned we did have someone point out they were closing at 10:00pm. The real question: would we return? Nope.
No air conditioning, rude staff, food was good
We had to wait quite along time for our dinner, our party of three and one other party of two were the only ones there. Once the food arrived we were swarmed bye flys.
We enjoyed the atmosphere of being right close to the beach. The food was amazing and the service was great!
The server was pleasant. My husband ordered a mojito, however, the server informed us that you had no more mint. Not sure how a restaurant runs out of an ingredient that is required for at least two drink. The server was trying to be helpful by suggesting another drink but that required mint as well. I ordered a burger, well done. The bottom of the burger was totally burned. I never had that happen before. I couldn't eat it all. I told the server while we were paying, he apologized although it wasn't his fault. The server said that he would have made sure that I received another burger. To be honest, I wasn't going to wait longer to get a burger. It seemed like we had to wait longer than we should have for our food. My husband had ordered the ribs, the meat didn't fall off the bone. My daughter did enjoy what she ordered. So, for me, I was disappointed by this visit and don't plan on coming back. And I don't need to because there are many other restaurants to visit.
Perfect beachfront atmosphere where you can grab a bite without being surrounded by only swimming gear. Food was good although it was very heavy for a day at the beach. Porkchop is delicious although they didn’t tell me it would be breaded. I could’ve also done without the gravy on top. My husband’s ribeye was excellent. My son enjoyed the ravioli and succotash. Our server was wonderful, she is friendly and made our experience enjoyable. I thought she said her name was Shelby but I can’t remember. We had a party of three, got in right at 5 o’clock , Had a couple of drinks and just enjoyed the sound of the ocean. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a relaxed place to go sit down and have a meal. It does overlook the hotel pool so you occasionally have kids running around unless you sit indoors. Our table was off to the side so it wasn’t so bad.
I ordered the fried chicken and it was cold in the middle.
Such a great place! Yes, there is quite a wait for a table, but it is worth it. Live music and great service!
Our reservation was for breakfast Sunday morning, which we had a great experience with. Our waitress was AMAZING. She went above and beyond for us. The food was good. However, I took stars away due to our experience the day before (we did not have a reservation but there was literally one other table there - otherwise empty). We went for a late lunch and after 20 minutes of waiting at the table and no one coming to even get a drink order, we left. We returned for dinner, which was a mistake but we were staying at the The Beach House Hotel so it was convenient, the service was a little better, but the food was bland and the sides were a children's size portion. I understand the need to be trendy putting food in cute, different containers to be edgy, but at least make them a reasonable size. Definitely not worth the price. Probably will never return except to get a drink at the bar if we stay at that hotel again.
ARRIVED AND WERE TOLD THAT OUR SERVER WOULD BE WITH US SHORTLY. WAITED OVER 10 MINUTES AND NO ONE EVEN BOTHERED TO ACKNOWLEDGE US SO WE GOT UP AND LEFT. WENT AND HAD A GREAT MEAL WITH EXCELLENT SERVICE AT VINE.
Was not a dining experience I would like to repeat!
We waited over 5 minutes to be greeted, even though we had a reservation and the restaurant was relatively empty. No sense of urgency at all! Server left us sitting for another 5, then took drink and app order. Another 10 minutes to get drinks. Apps never came. A different server brought our dinner out, which had most definitely been sitting in the window for a considerable amount of time.
It’s a beautiful restaurant in a great location. A storm was coming in and it was super windy and cold, even inside the restaurant. After about an hour, the bartender shut the door and the restaurant cheered. Seems like they should have done that much earlier. Family liked their food, but was icky due to how long it sat. The only apology we got was “thanks for your patience” and “I’ll go ahead and take those app off of the bill for ya”. Maybe it was just an off night? We definitely will not be going back.
We were enjoying a wonderful vacation in Hilton Head and decided to walk to breakfast. The staff seemed like we were a bother. The buffet was nothing special but they deterred us from ordering off the menu. This was a definite disappointment.
We had a Sunday night get away, and the food was less than impressive and the service was very slow. We had to ask for things multiple times, even from the bar tender, who was not the server. We saw other people in uniform, and they cared more about cleaning a table off than serving the waiting and existing clients. Overall, I probably wouldn’t eat at the restaurant event though we very much enjoyed the hotel.
Good experience. Good food priced right.
Food was very good, a place to go back to.
We waited an hour for any food. There was an one loud drunk at the bar who would not leave. We were very hungry and left as soon as we could. We think they had kitchen staff problems.
Full disclosure, it was Christmas Day so credit and thanks to those who prepared the food but it was not worth $36 a plate even on Christmas. Roast beef and ham was good but veggies were just fair. Carrots might as well have been raw. Al dante to the max. Mashed potatoes had more garlic in them than potatoes. Mac and cheese was not good. Anyway, it filled out bellies but can’t recommend this location for anything more than bar food.
Slow, slow, slow, first not waitry rude
Not enough staff!!!!
Friendly staff and fun atmosphere. I will definitely be stopping by on my next trip through.
Interesting food choices. Good quality and very convenient for hotel guests.
The service was subpar. The young man waiting on us was not friendly. We sat for a good 5 minutes before he took our drink order. The calamari flavor was good but very over cooked and chewy. The burger was good. The wedge salad was very good.
For me the customer service and the humidity (open to the pool) overshadowed to food.
This place is not open table worthy. The first clue was the rude hotel parking guard telling us we could not park by the restaurant despite have a 9 person reservation, since we were not hotel guests. Table is at a poolside bar restaurant. Appetizers were good. Then the hour wait for food. Asked waitress and was told there was a six top ahead of us and then our food was next. Place was practically empty. Manager summoned and said she would check. Food then came out but manager never returned. Most of the 9 meals were ice cold like they had been sitting for a while. Summoned manager again and she just wanted to recook everything. This now 90 minutes later. She asked what she could do. We asked her what she normally would do. They did take a few items off bill. Remember the parking? Now a long walk across a dark lot then crossing a busy four lane highway to our off property parking NOT what we expect from open table.
Came for breakfast on the beach, was sorta on beach saw the ocean thru the pretty pool area, food uneatable dry over cooked no taste. $40 for nothing
Service was slow but thought that the restaurant was understaffed + it seemed the management was not helping in any way just merely standing around. Also thought the drinks and bartender was not efficient at making the drinks. However the food and drinks were delicious + the view and atmosphere were perfect. Enjoyed the relaxation but just wished the staff was more attentive.
The food was excellent and we received large portions for the value. Money well spent, but the only down side was that our alcoholic beverages tasted watered down. I loved the life size games, such as connect 4, jinga, and checkers. My friends and I enjoyed it a lot.
One of the worst dining experiences we’ve had on the island. Flies were everywhere, so much so that we had to cover our drinks with small plates. The quality of the food was awful, the servers were over seated & the atmosphere was not enjoyable as a result. To make it worse, the prices were quite high - dinner for two was $75. You can have a fine dining experience for the price. Don’t waste it here.
It’s an open to the beach setting, so it was pretty hot and humid. We saw some critters running through Regardless, the food was terrific. I had the Low Country Shrimp & Grits. And some of their Brisket. Great tasting.
We went for breakfast and dined outside. From other reviews I have read, the morning experience was quite different. It was quiet an no one was swimming in the pool at 8 am. Not busy at all. The weather was perfect, ocean view was amazing, and we were able to take a walk on the beach by exiting the restaurant right onto the beach. I can't say enough about the atmosphere! The food was just ok..nothing to brag about. The service was also just ok. Waitress was nice, but I didn't see her but once after we were seated. I had to ask for refills when I saw her passing by the table..it was not busy at this time either.
Awesome Space :) the food was outstanding!! new flavors :) It was a great time for the entire family!
Family get together
Food was very good. But, it is basically a restaurant on a hotel pool deck. Screaming kids and half-naked people covered in tattoos were 5 feet from our table. Not very appetizing...
Cute spot, good food, rudest server we’ve ever had
We booked this reservation for Father’s Day late brunch/lunch. The website and nothing else specified that they would not serve actually serve us any food except for small appetizers. The website or something needs to be specified that they do not serve meals until 12 or so. Poor on their part.
Food was fine although mine was missing avocado. Service was slow. Great location.
