The Covid precautions were good and the dining area was well arranged to ensure social distancing. Food was good - particularly the beef was of a very high quality.
Service was attentive and prompt and we appreciated the absence of excessive noise.

The mushroom croquetes were gorgious and the steak suculent with delicious double cooked chips

Great food, good service. Sat in the new large teepee, which is great. Not sure about the hot blown air system though, fine for us as we were sat next to the outlet, but blowing air around is probably not a wise idea at this time. Might be worth thinking of infrared heaters instead.....

Lovely food. A bit claustrophobic due to the screens which gave us little space to move but understandable. Staff were lovely and service good

Last chance for lunch before lockdown happened to fall on our Anniversary nice experience prior to 4 weeks of isolation.

Very good meal, as always. The calves liver was outstanding and chef was happy to amend the mussels sauce for us. We will miss our restaurant during lockdown -good luck to Jonny and all the staff.

We had a lovely meal just before lockdown. It was well organised and the service and food were very good. We would definitely return.

Menu is excellent as is quality. Staff cannot be more friendly or helpful. A delightful experience

It was our first visit and sadly it wasn’t great. We had the roast beef and the roast chicken. Quality of the beef wasnt great and the chicken was quite a small portion but cooked well. Both meals came without cauliflower cheese (although menu described this would be included), its was too late to raise the point when we realised as we were half way through the meal already. The roast potatoes were undercooked and not very crispy on the outside. Wasn’t the best roast dinner we’ve had and we left feeling dissapointed as we had heard such great reviews about this place.
The service from the staff was great though, attentive and pleasant.
The dessert - banoffe cake and banana ice cream was delicious. 10/10 and would highly recommend!!
Overall, when recommending to friends and family, we probably wouldn’t suggest sunday lunch here.

Excellent quality food, great service, would certainly recommend.

Menu choices were slightly limited and in our case the calf's liver was from a fairly old calf. Lambs liver would have been a better choice in my view and they the meat would have been as good as the rest of the meal.
Service was good and made up for the food issue above but it did put one of our number off her whe meal which was a shame.

Covid protocol good. Menu is interesting. Portions (especially fish and chips) are a reasonable size. Though no specific dietary options specified on the menu, were able to adapt one for a vegan. Though there were no dessert options for her.

During our visit we never felt uncomfortable about the COVID precautions and the food and drink was excellent - although one side dish was a bit cold.
We have been here many times and not had a poor meal and the staff make every effort to ensure everyone enjoys their meal.

An excellent menu full of variety and tempting dishes, with friendly attentive service. The food was top notch, everyone enjoyed their dishes and it was a comfy pub to while away a couple of hours!

Very well looked after from start to finish - fish pie was excellent, fish and chips good rather than great. Prosecco on the house, for our little occasion, was a lovely touch.

Waited a long time for main course and it was not nearly as nice as last week.

We booked this restaurant as a last minuet as when we got to the premier inn on our travels we were told that the restaurant wasn’t operating for dinner and it was only ready meals.
I checked online and had the choice of here or an Indian restaurant as everywhere else was fully booked.

When we arrived at the restaurant (5 minutes early) we were told our booking hadn’t come through in time and that the kitchen had thrown the food out and they have stopped serving food. After disappearing off to the kitchen we were told we could eat but not everything was available. great we had 3 hungry kids to feed we were so grateful we didn’t get turned away.

The food was delicious, empty plates all round, What I will say though is it’s quite pricey.
Over all it’s A lovely restaurant with a country feel But a little too “posh” for me and my tribe we felt abit out of place.

If you are in the mood for Sunday lunch out in the greater Winchester area, this is the only place to go! Outstanding food, attentive staff and a really nice, cosy setting

Its was an ok meal but we had a cold starter that should have been hot. Food was OK, warm not pipping hot just average which was disappointing. Ordered a white coffee and got a small amount of milk, asked for more milk they didn't have any.

We are in difficult times but the running horse was not as good as it has been.

We had breakfast which was well cooked, hot & presented lovely. Throughly enjoyed our meal. Staff very polite & pleasant. Like the fact that you can speak to the chefs.

Even though we provided our contact details, they still insisted we had to use the NHS track and trace app. According to the Government, this is not mandatory, so we left - extremely poor. If that’s the shape of things to come in this country, get me out as soon as possible.

As always even in these difficult times it did not disappoint would thoroughly recommend a visit as food, service & value for money are excellent.

Very good quality of food and excellent presentation. The fish pie was outstanding! The atmosphere was very good despite the Covid19 precautions and we felt safe throughout our visit. We would highly recommend this restaurant to friends and family.

The Running Horse is our local. Very nice pub, good service, very covid aware, you feel you are cared for. Good for Summer evenings or cosy autumnal days.

A very pleasant atmosphere and we enjoyed our meal very much when we came here for lunch on a Thursday.

Tables fairly well spaced out . Given intro with guidelines on arrival . Service prompt and enjoyable food . A good visit !
