The Schoolhouse at Cannondale
Another memorable evening at this farm to table treasure. Exceptional preparation, freshest ingredients, perfectly timed service, bisque, branzino, duck, and that lemon dessert all embodied the best of elevated cooking tempered with an experienced homemade feel. Five star thankfully without being institutional or curated. If there were a secret society for Michelin stars lol, because some of the best dining experiences are under the radar gems, the whisper would be a perfect three star rating. Love our visits here and thank you to the team.
great as always love the vegetarian pre-fix for winter wednessdays
Delicious food excellent service. Would definitely recommend as well as go nack
From beginning to end a very enjoyable dining experience. Welcoming and attentive staff, well prepared cocktails and appealing/delicious food. Highly recommended
Every dish from the Vegetarian Tasting menu was delicious. We were very happy with everything. Tim, the executive chef, came out and served us our plates in person. He is a very talented chef!!!
Amazing plant based tasting menu. These avowed meat eaters highly recommend.
Overal great experience.
The food is great. The waitstaff is freindly but not meant for fine dining.
It is so charming eating in a real old school house! I took my sister and brother-in-law to celebrate my husband‘s birthday, and they were gracious, well paced, and the food was outstanding. The school house was my husband’s toys for his birthday dinner, and it did not disappoint.
The food and service were excellent across the board, and the building is charming and intimate. The noise level in the restaurant is the only complaint; it was difficult to hear conversation at our table for four.
My second visit to The Schoolhouse, this time for lunch. Everything was perfect. Really appreciated the friendliness of the wait staff - they were attentive but did not rush us. Food presentation outstanding and tasted wonderful. It is always a pleasure to come here. Will return more often for both lunch and dinner.
Excellent service and food.
Healthy portions and clearly spelled out all ingredients of the dish.
Friendly and timely attention to customers from an impecable service team.
Attractive brook views if you get the right seat.
Unbelievable food and wine pairings!
Always excellent! One of my favorite places of all time.
Schoolhouse is our absolutely favorite restaurant. The food is outstanding and the delightful waiter Lauro makes who serves us every time makes it a wonderful place to go. We are so delighted by the incredible meals we have had the last three times we ate there. FANTASTIC beyond words. Michelle Greenfield the chef deserves recognition for her wonderful creative and incredibly flavorful dishes. We cannot wait to go back again!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thank you everyone at Schoolhouse!!!

Schoolhouse is a very good restaurant. Although the portions are somewhat small, the quality and taste is very good. It was disappointing, however, to realize that the lunch menu is significantly different from the dinner menu, having gone there before in the evening. Still, the ambiance is lovely, and very scenic. Unfortunately, it was a bit difficult to enjoy on this visit, as a there was a very loud crowd there this day, and the size and layout of the premises leaves one little choice but to bear with that.
Great everything - food, service, ambiance...This restaurant does not fail to exceed expectations on every visit. We will be back.
I always have a good experience at the Schoolhouse. The food and service are impecable; I wish the portions were a little bigger. Everything is delicious!
We had a great Friday lunch on Valentine's Day and the quality of everything was just as perfect as the
dinners we've had over the years. The soup, the Branzino and the Duck were superb.
A fun little restaurant that is outstanding. The food is not only very good, but the selection and presentation are over the top. Drove 2 hours from NJ to have Valentine's lunch there and it was worth it.
Fabulous in all ways! The quality of the food is superb
Chef Michelle is totally AWESOME! Her food is innovative and fit for foodies! We are weekly patrons of this outstanding gem!

Great dinner to celebrate a college graduation.
Eating there is quite the experience. You’re eating off a menu that’s unique for the evening, in a tiny, reservation-only, 1700’s school house, with a server that talks to you more like a suit tailor. The menu either had items that I’ve never had before, or items I never would of thought to combine.
Second time there and they do not disappoint. Everything is always on point here. Friendly service, amazing setting, quality of ingredients.
We will continue to come back.
The best restaurant in Fairfield county
Excellent food, attentive service, charming setting.
Had the price fix for a birthday dinner
We were all so pleased
Excellent service and the wine pairing was perfect- Can't wait to go back!
Delicious and interesting food choices
Extraordinary and friendly service
Serene and invigorating atmosphere
What a great spot to meet for lunch...next on my list is to make dinner reservations.
What a treat!
Excellent Service & Gourmet prepaerd Food - we felt very relaxed, celebrating a birthday with a party of 5, midweek. We shared the escargot & the gnocci app. The escargot was prepared deliciously - en croute. The chocolate souffle is a must & rich enough for 2-3 people to share. Ambiance-wise, possibly more interesting lighting and perhaps an electric/gas fireplace
Phenomenal! I had the Foie gras, Duck, and Lemon tart. Each one was a sensational in their own unique way. The chef is clearly a talented professional with some major formal training under their belt. The staff were all very attentive and courteous. I would highly recommend for a special event. (It is quite pricey, but you are getting what you pay for in quality dining)
Terrific - food is delicious - service impeccable - very special restaurant
Reliably excellent all around!
Best meal I had in Fairfield County in a long time!!!!!!!
Great food & lovely place - small & intimate. Service was wonderful.
The flavors of the dishes were fabulous! The gnocchi was amazing! I wish they had a little more broad of a menu, but what we ordered was delicious. The ambiance could improve - the lighting in the middle of the restaurant is a little harsh and the acoustics aren’t the best, but I guess that’s the trade off if you dine in an schoolhouse built in 1872. Overall a good dining experience!
Service was a bit off, but the meal and ambiance were terrific.
Great as always.
