Great food, but the menu was a limited due to COVID-19.
I had the fried seafood platter, which was excellent. The wait staff is very attentive.
It took an hour just to get appetizers. They were out of literally every 1st option I chose, drinks included. I made the reservation with a note about our anniversary...not even mentioned. I will NEVER return to this restaurant. The food was unimpressive and extremely expensive for what you were served. Mary our waitress was kind but didn't even apologize for timing as if it was normal to wait an hour for a shrimp cocktail and escargot. They weren't even worth the wait. The rice with my entrée was served in a saucer and ice cold. Save your money!
The food was good as usual, but we shouldn’t have had to wait for almost two and a half hours for our entree. Five couples came in after us and left before we finally finished our meal. Heard a tray of food dropped about the time we should have received our dinners, but staff didn’t own up to it. Not sure if it was ours or not but assumed so with the delayed service. Would have had a better experience if staff had told us the problem so we didn’t have to ask manager and waitstaff why the delay. Second time for special occasion and terrible service. Regular dining we’ve had no issues and risked it again for special event but no more.
Wonderful dining experience!
The service was great. The food was delicious and ample. The crab cakes among the best I have ever had. Very fine dining at a reasonable price.
We were seated in the large dining room on the left as you walk in. Ou immediately response was a wow!! It was elegant and beautifully decorated. It just got better from there. The wine to the appetizers to the entree and to the dessert were absolutely outstanding. We were so thrilled with our meal we went back there for dinner two days later!! It was just a wonderful. It will be a regular stop whenever we visit Williamsburg in the future. The service was excellent also as you would expect.
Fabulous dinner! Unfortunately COVID restrictions have hurt an excellent restaurant. Our server Mary was fantastic!
We were there on a Friday evening. Seating capacity is probably 200 seats plus. There were four of us and two other tables with a couple and one family. Needles to say empty restaurants don’t feel good. The special was stuffed lobster, which was a fantastic deal and a nice entry. The other two meals were ok. Service was fine but hardly exceptional as the waiter nothing else to do. The ratings exceeded the meal
Poor service. No one ever came to wait on us. So we left. We never got a chance to experience the restaurant.
Attractive decor, pleasant, efficient service with excellent and reasonably priced seafood. Great oysters!
The crab stuffed shrimp is must to try. The portion is perfect. We come to Williamsburg yearly for Celebration and we always eat here. They are so nice and service is great. Will return next year.
Fantastic seafood, superior service! Can’t wait for next visit!
Wonderful service with attention to detail. Would recommend the sauton. Pecan pie also delicious. Afterwards, we had a lively conversation with the owner and her son, who is now the owner/general manager. Their family established the restaurant 47 years ago! The decor boasts an interesting collection of Jack Woodson art.
The dinner was wonderful. Scallops and flounder were cooked to perfection. Our dining area was extremely quiet and very inviting. Keep up the good work.
Very good choice for dinner during these challenging times of the coronavirus - appropriate social distancing and servers with personal protective gear made you feel comfortable while dining!
This was a return after many years. The food was as excellent as we remembered. The gentleman serving as manager that evening could not have been nicer. We were running late, due to traffic, as we were enroute from the northeast, heading south. Our server was pleasant, however seemed to have a communication issue. Will definitely return.
A lovely "old school" restaurant. White tablecloths, warm bread at arrival, attentive service. They even serve sherbet to cleanse the palate! Great food with generous portions. Something for everyone on the menu.
Great service and wonderful food. Have eaten at Seafare before and have always been very satisfied.
My husband and I were delighted with the ambiance, our booth was extremely comfortable, we loved, loved ,loved our shrimp cocktail, the bread treat was amazing, the orange sorbet between our appetizer and entree was yummy! Now, our entrees were fantastic! My seafood dish had a full assortment of the sea, loved it!! My husband had trout stuffed with crab meat amazingly delicious! I highly recommend this restaurant for a special seafood night out, I heard their steaks are just as amazing! My husband and I will visit again when we are in the area.
I had mussels and the salmon - both were excellent
Giving them a break because of the virus - but we were greeted with a list of items that were not available from the menu, first bottle of wine I ordered was not available then told that other similar wines were not available. Switched to a well know Chard that I have ordered and purchased many times and it was off taste they took it back and we settled for another. Giving them credit they finally decided not to charge us for the wine. The food was fine even though we came for another entree that was on their website. Hoping this was just an off night -
quiet restaurant along the strip. the interior is definitely dated, but all in all it was good.
The food was beyond outstanding. The decor could use some updating.
The Seafarer was very nice nothing in the food stood out while all very good as over the top outstanding with one exception! that being the Crab Cake it was made and full of jumbo lump Crab meat being from the Baltimore area I have had some great crab cakes but this one rates near the very top highly recommend! The service was friendly and attentive while not being overly pushy. On the down side the wine list was surprisingly limited you would expect for this type of restaurant.
We were the only party there, due to the Coronavirus, I assume, so we got all the attention!
I’ll start with the fact that the food was awful. Seriously. I can’t stress that enough. A previous reviewer said they’ve had better food at Long John Silver and this is no exaggeration. Secondly, I ordered a bottle of Chardonnay that was about $30. The server came to the table stating they were sold out of the bottle, but had a replacement in hand and asked “would you like this one?”. Sure why not, right? Wrong. After giving her my card to pay for the check, I get the bill and SHE GAVE ME A $60 BOTTLE TO REPLACE THE $30 ONE! Who does that? Especially with no notification. I just ate the charge and vowed to never EVER return to this establishment again.
I’ve had better seafood from Long John Silver. Staff was very nice though.
Great food and service. Second time we have eaten here and would highly recommend
We were seated quickly but service was very slow. Food for the most part was good. We had veal, steak, flounder. I would not recommend the oysters. The restaurant staff were very pleasant. They are doing the best they can during these difficult times.
Nothing to offer... potatoes only as side.
No Cabernet wine
Exceptional food and service!
The food and service were excellent just a little pricey.
We used to love Seafare, and even enjoyed our previous visit post reopening. But this last visit was a dud. The server didn't know what the ales were like, sea bass is (still) not in the menu, and the salmon which I ordered came bare and with a buttered vegetable instead of with balsamic cream and spinach+rice. After I had eaten everything but the salmon, the server brought me what appeared to be melted butter to put on the fish. When I asked for balsamic cream sauce she came back after I had eaten the fish with some white sauce -- Mornay maybe?
A strength of Seafare used to be the beautiful presentation of the food. But this wasn't as good as I could do at home, and the delays in getting the various parts of the meal were irritating. There was a boisterous and crude party at the next table for which I don't blame Seafare but it didn't enhance the experience.
Very few patrons in the restaurant on a Tuesday evening at 7 pm. Local informed us that they enjoy going here mainly because it is viewed as a "tourist" restaurant, but is never very crowded, even with COVID-19. Several options were "out", but choices we made were very good and enjoyable. "Jester", our server, was very attentive (since he did not have any other customers) and kept us informed. Prices were "reasonable" for a tourist restaurant. Food was prepared to our liking and presentation was nice. If you are looking for a quiet spot for dinner this is your place.
Ambiance was nice. Service and food was sub par for the price.
Our experience was not pleasant. We left out before our food arrived due to the lack of service. There was only one other table in the restaurant. We will never visit again :-(
We have been customers for many years. We have always accepted the relatively higher prices in exchange for the entire dining experience - excellent food, atmosphere and service. Whether COVID 19 has caused a shakeup there or the business is under new management, the service aspect of the experience was drastically different from what we have experienced in the past, from the manner in which we were greeted, seated, and then served. While I suppose the waitress was doing her best, the service she provided was more in the vein on what you would expect at a chain restaurant, at best. She was late bringing water, taking drink orders, and then almost (perhaps unintentionally) slapped our plates of food on the table. She then served us corn muffins by holding out a basket and inviting each of us to grab one. That level of informality was surprising for this restaurant. If our server is representative of most of the current staff there then, sadly, the dining experience there is no longer the same and not worth the extra cost.
Service was excellent. Food ordered was excellent but presentation not considered up to par for $$$ or $$$$ price point. Not advised for romantic anniversary evening out. Looking at restaurant seating layout caters more to number of patrons rather than meal & experience. When someone recommends “highly” consider the source.
Food took way to long, half of the menu was not available, there was one server for the entire dinning room that we felt sorry for. Never again.. don’t take the time to wait at the place for the horrible food! We left after the food took 1 hour to come..
