We had a reservation for my Girlfriends birthday at 9. But when we got there they said they were closing early. A phone call text or email would have been nice. Instead we went to the Fat Tuna where we were sat immediately and well taken care of.
The scallops are wonderful! The service is friendly and attentive.
Dining room was dated and falling apart. My husband cut himself on a broken chair and the booth was taped together. The restaurant got good reviews online so we tried it. We are not from the area. We dressed up thinking it was a nice place but other customers were wearing t-shirts and sandals. The food was expensive and not very good. We had the scallops and crab cakes. The bill came to around $130 dollars for 2 people including tip! The only positive was the good service. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone!
Vacationing with friends first time visit. Crab cakes and stuffed trout were very good. Filet was tasteless. Service was poor due to what appeared to be too little help (thank you Covid.). Overall not memorable.
Even giving slack for challenges during the pandemic, this was horrible. 1.5 hours to START getting entrees. Took 15 minutes for all of them to come out. The filet mignon was way overcooked, ribeye undercooked, vegetables bland, fish overcooked. Unremarkable food that was way overpriced. The servers could do nothing but bring bread and apologize. Management was helping, I mean hiding in the back. A round of free drinks would have softened the situation or the manager making the rounds to schmooze.
Very dated decor. The food wasn’t up to par with the prices, and although the server was kind we likely won’t be back.
The server was nice and the portions were generous, but the ambiance had an unusual feel to it. We won’t go back.
Food was very good. Nice atmosphere. Attentive wait staff.
Filet mignon had no flavor. Not even like they used salt, pepper or garlic. Béarnaise was forgotten about. Escargot was good and the peach melba was mediocre. Service was good but the place was empty for a reason…
Excellent food and attentive service.
Our waitress was very short with us, curt and almost dismissive. She was very friendly with the white tables but didn’t are for the black folks. It seemed that way for every blank person in the restaurant. Our wait times were insane, the food was ridiculously over cooked (main courses) and the table seated next to us (white folk) stared so rich they made me uncomfortable. I will NEVER go back to this restaurant. As a black woman, I will never give this place my money again. I felt embarrassed and talked about and my husband and I were not treated as though we were paying customers.
Service was good. A little slow at times but they were busy and they may have been light on staff considering the current employment climate. We enjoyed our meal.
Very disappointing. While the salmon was well cooked and very flavorful, the baked grouper was terrible. It was tough and difficult to cut unlike any fish we’ve ever had. I would never do back.
I was expecting a high quality meal and it was just average. Bisque was rather bland, scallops were something I could have whipped up myself. My server was very attentive but the overall experience was just so-so. With so many great dining choices in Williamsburg I probably won’t be back.
This is a challenging time for restaurants and the Williamsburg area seems especially hard hit. The restaurant was clean and everything appeared new. The decor reminded me of the interior of a cruise ship in the 1970’s. The lighting was a bit dim for our liking. The server did a good job. The food left much to be desired. It is difficult to say if the food was lower quality than we expected or the kitchen was to blame. The end result was that our meals were barely edible. The fried food was not cooked properly and we suspect that the oil in the fryer is old and that is what caused the issue. The broiled fish was soggy and tasteless (it tasted like the butter sauce it was served in). To top it off it took 4 people to answer a question about our bill. As a final bad experience, the charge applied to our card was higher than on our receipt. We are hoping it is a typo. It seems to us that this establishment has a staffing issue and things will not be good until it is resolved.
Some food was good, esp fried oysters, scallops. Others were under seasoned. The mango sorbet pallet reset was very good. We didn’t mind the darkness, and the server was very nice and not overbearing. Service was a little slow despite not having too many present. Overall, we’d come back.
Excellent food and service
A little dark inside, making reading the menu difficult. Said from that, we had a wonderful meal and experience.
Great food and service. Very fresh seafood.
I guess we should have known to just walk out when a restaurant is close to empty at 7pm on a Saturday night. I cannot imagine they will be around much longer. Good not great, service slow, wanted to bring dinner and I had just started salad. Wine pour not good but most places around Williamsburg want to rip you off with wine by the glass. Overall many better places to try (Not Opus 9, SO Expensive)
We don’t understand how this restaurant got 4* . Ugh the service was very good, meal was bad. Beginning with my simple Manhattan cocktail. Tasted watered down but maybe just cheap bourbon. I told our server that it wasn’t good but we got charged for it anyway. Next, my soup. It was just warm. I had fried oysters which were “OK”, tho my baked potato was barely warm. My husband had the fried seafood platter, which had soggy breading on it and the crab cake was mushy. Didn’t have dessert, just got the check and got out. Worst meal we’ve had in a long time.
Nice people. Our waiter was great. Unfortunately the food was uninspired.
We have always enjoyed this restaurant! It’s a step back in time both in style of service, decor and menu. Service is gracious and timely. The food is tasty and well portioned with no surprises or missing elements. We will return!
We had reservations and were seated quickly. Server was very attentive. We had grilled oysters, crab bisque. Followed that with serf and turf. Grilled Lobster was best I have had anywhere. Everything was excellent. Wish I lived here because we would eat here often.
We had a group of eight, and this was one of the few restaurants that would accept our party size. Our server had little experience pouring wine and was essentially an order-taker, and service was slow. The food was fine, though the lead non-seafood dish, labeled as "Wiener Schnitzel", was actually Veal Oscar without the crab (odd for a seafood restaurant) and was nothing like the real thing. If you have a large group, and lots of time, though, this restaurant may be a good fit.
An excellent meal. Understaffed, at the moment. Our server, Mary, did her best!
This is a nice seafood restaurant. The food is excellent and the staff is very attentive.
Food was excellent, our server was somewhat inexperienced, but very friendly. Limited choice of side items (baked potato or rice). They served 3 different types of bread, all very good. Entrees were a little pricey, but very good.
Outdated, ousters were good but fries, and “grouper” which didn’t taste like grouper were awful.
Rum bread was amazing. Crab bisque was bland. French onion soup was good. Crab cakes were amazing. Scallops were good. Beef medallions were warm/cold. Glass of white Chardonnay was terrible - could have been open too long. Overall - disappointing experience.
Very good restaurant. Good seafood and service was ok. A bit slow though.
Food was delicious, but the best part was the service. Victoria is the best!
Cherries jubilee was excellent. The ambiance was too.
The wait staff was new or something. The steak had no taste to it, the baked potato wasn’t fully cooked, forgot the crap cakes that was ordered with the meal. Over all, was a poor experience...
Great Romantic Dinner spot with exceptional food. We never felt rushed and it was a great dining experience. There were many wonderful choices on the menu and it would have been easy to go back several nights. This is our favorite place to go in Williamsburg.
We enjoyed our meal and had great service. Outstanding!
It was our first time at the Seafare Restaurant. We loved the ambience and were greeted warmly. The service was outstanding and the food was among the best we've had in
Williamsburg to date! We'll be back.
We had a wonderful experience at the Seafarer last night. The food was fabulous! Our server Christine was excellent, so pleasant and efficient! The general manager, Howard, stopped by our table to say “hello” and truly topped off the evening with his outgoing personality. I highly recommend this restaurant!!
Sorry, this is the wrong restaurant. But this restaurant was nice.
This is a great place for a quiet special dinner. The ambiance is quiet and fancy. The service is excellent. The food is very good and the price is very reasonable for a "fancy restaurant".
