The Summerhouse

We had the poached octopus with potatoes for starters but there was no flavour with the potatoes, a bit bland. The main course of seafood risotto was better and monk loin, however portions are small.

A gem find off the beaten track in an amazing canal setting...great ambience, gorgeous decor along with excellent service and best of all a great menu with simply delicious food.

Very attractive decor and great location, overlooking the Canal. Six of us enjoyed Christmas lunch. Very attentive and pleasant staff who couldn't have been more helpful when arranging this luncheon amidst changing regulations due to Covid19.

Great ambience with a beautiful view overlooking the water. Food was really tasty and the staff are friendly!

Waiter was far from friendly or helpful. Some people should not be waiters. Looked bored and unresponsive. Smallest portion of fish delivered. Child size portion with cold chips and a sauce with too much sugar. It was so expensive for fish and chips. It was the last day before lockdown and there was no recognition that we were supporting The Summer House. Will not return which is a shame as the setting is delightful.

A short menu generally leads to swift service and good quality food as at The Summerhouse, enjoyed in a bright, summery atmosphere beside the canal. I am glad it is easy for me to get to.

We are always looked after at the Summerhouse, excellent staff willing to make changes and additions to menu of required, and food is consistently good quality. Toilets are sparkling clean and stylish, the overall ambience makes the Summerhouse our favourite London dining spot.

Great service by the staff. The location is fabulous, near to the Regents Canal. Clam chowder is good, served in a plate. Lobster is fresh and tasteful; the size is not bad. We’ll come back, when the lockdown is over.

The Summerhouse is a great restaurant right on the canal. Superb setting and excellent seafood. I would highly recommend the sea bass which was on special when we visited.
Will definitely be visiting again.

I love this restaurant for its menu, ambience, decor, service and location. The food is super tasty and beautifully presented. Covid-secure (in Tier 2) with screens between tables etc., although I did trip over the foot of the screen as I hadn't been warned about it and saw a few other guests stumble a bit as well. The restaurant is currently open to the canal on one side, but it is also well heated.

Very happy with everything other than that the windows were open on a cold day so had to dine in our coats. Didn’t expect that in late October. But food and service very good. Would come back but perhaps in the summer when it’s warmer and nice to dine alfresco.

Excellent fast service and romantic setting by the canal. Definitely a great place for a celebration, as its not cheap.

1st visit. Very Covid friendly, felt relaxed. Good food and service. Looking forward to the next time!

Was told that we could not sit by the open window, as that was for a party of 4 people and there’s was only 2 of us.
However, a couples arrived after us and were seated at the table with the open window. After about five mins they asked to be moved as they were cold. Ten minutes later another couple arrived and again were seated at the table for 4, at the open window. The lady expressed to one of the waiter that she was cold and he came back with a blanket for her! (Nice)
However, my husband and I are of Africa Caribbean decent and the two couples mentioned above were white British and therefore were treated with respect and curtesy, clearly we were not worthy of the same treatment.
I will not be back there in a hurry, or perhaps this was their way of letting us know that we were not welcome, as their actions were very obvious.
We did not express how we felt to the manager, as we were afraid of our evening being ruined.

Myself and the other diners I were with all thought the food, service and overall experience were great. Would highly recommend to others looking for a really enjoyable dining experience.

Also want to highlight that as I was sat at my table, a very rude customer began being difficult with some meme bets of staff (including not wearing a mask and boasting his own ‘superior’ cooking skills), and the staff were nothing but respectful to him even where he was being highly disrespectful - so great customer service and thank you for such a lovely dining experience.

Such a disappointment - I thought restaurants had stopped trying to appear special by underdelivering back in the 90s! - "The roast dinner was like fine dining because they only gave me 1/8th if a carrot, smothered the beef with black peppers and didn't give Yorkshire puddings or anything else you might expect with a roast dinner" - said nobody ever! In addition to the pathetic roast they have also suddenly decided that they couldn't make pasta in tomato sauce (as they always have before) for our 6-year-old (come on - I'm a rally basic cook and even I can make a basic tomato sauce for pasts in 2 minutes). To round the visit off we were chased out of the restaurant by a man insisting we put on a mask (despite being led to our table without masks being mentioned, and his own not even covering his nose). What has happened to this place?

The staff were inviting and wonderful. The food was some of the best I have ever had. Beautiful location and scenery. Very clean and professional! Will definitely be back :)
