We love the Sycamore Inn. Great food and awesome service.
It was terrible. Dawn was awful. Dawn paid attention to everyone but us. She would look away as she walked by our table. It took 68 minutes to get our entrees that were terrible. All of our food was barely warm but our plates were burning hot. Guess dawn forgot our food under the heat lamps. Our bill was more than 200 for the worst service ever and mediocre food. We have been here many times and never had an issue Tonight was the worst. It also happened to be my birthday. My wife and daughter had already went out to the car because they were tired of waiting and dawn brought over some tiny dessert and said it’s your birthday, here ya go. Not even happy birthday My wife and daughter weren’t even at the table!!!!!! They ended up waiting in the car for 25 minutes just for me to pay the bill. She couldn’t even be bothered to cash out our check. My wife was upset and kept
apologizing because she felt bad that dinner was so awful. It wasn’t her fault .... it was Dawns fault. I wanted to talk to a manager but I couldn’t find one and I was tired of waiting and my family was tired. This was the worst meal ever.
This place never disappoints. Food is always amazing, and staff is great. We come here a few times a year for special dates the past 8yrs. We love it!
Service was excellent! The food was good. I was the only one to have fish. It was delicious, but a little sweet. But that's probably just me. Everyone cleaned their plates. My mom ordered the petite filet which came with a whole roasted garlic head... yum! The other two had prime rib. The creamed corn would be good with some spice to counter balance the sweetness. It was still yummy, but just saying. Overall, we really enjoyed our visit!
This was our first visit. We were seated in the corner with a full view of the dining room. It was perfect for our group of four. The ambiance is first class, kinda old school which suits us just fine. For the number of patrons, the noise level was OK, not too loud, but we knew the room was full. I cannot believe the size of the parking lot, and it was full up! The food---superb. The service--superb. Our waitress was on top of everything, and the staff never let a water glass get less than half full. The cocktail (Manhattan) was potent, and delicious. Please do uphold the business casual and plus for dress requirements. A place as nice as the Sycamore deserves quality customers dressed appropriately. The large group at the table next to us was a perfect example of "class", and we were happy to be seated near such people.
We will return!
This was the second time I've come to Sycamore Inn. My wife and I were given a $50 gift card so we figured we would give it a try. The first time we came which was approximately a year ago we were advised the system was down and they could not take the card. Apparently there was a piece of paper taped to the front table advising of this as we walked in. Unfortunately do to our busy lives we had not had a chance to go back until this past Saturday. When it came time to pay we gave the server the gift card who said it was so old they would have to use their old system. She came back and informed us it had a $0 balance. She confirmed the purchase date of the gift card but could not advise as to when the card was utilized. It is unclear if someone improperly utilized our gift card or if during the transition to a new system our gift card was wiped clean. We were advised there was nothing that could be done. It is frustrating that the two times we wanted to enjoy a peaceful dinner we were surprised with bad news associated to the gift card that was sold from this establishment.
Quintessential American Steakhouse. Great atmosphere, great food, and great service. Love the historical building and the old decor. The filet mignon is second to none. Highly recommend!
Great service and always great food.
Actually I really don't know if I would recommend it anymore.
My husband and I have been going there for years, and it isn't the elegant place it used to be. People come in there dressed in sloppy casual clothes, and have no manners. Also, we noticed that some of the top corners of the booths in the bar area were dusty and some of the accent tables were dusty as well.
The food is still wonderful, although the service is slow, and you now have to tell the waiter what you want (complimentary bread, more iced tea, water, etc). As a place that should command a 20% tip, they are going to have to step up their game a bit before we go back. Please keep in mind that the bar area is not "energetic" but downright noisy. It is a little quieter in the dining room.
Our dinner purpose was to celebrate a very special occasion. As it was the first time we had been there, we were not disappointed. The food was excellent, the atmosphere was quiet so we could hear ourselves talk. It was perfect all around.
Food was ok but not worth the price. Service was great.
Sycamore Inn has great wine selection , great food, and good service on a regular basis.
Although we made our reservation late in the day, we were seated in a lovely location and served by an excellent waiter. The artichoke appetizer was delicious, and the filet dinner was tender and superb. Have always loved the Sycamore Inn, and will continue to enjoy it!
Went there Feb 15 having reviewed their regular menu and deciding what to have prior to our arrival. Get there and come to find out they are on a limited Valentine's menu.....hmmm, no one said anything about that even when I received the confirmation call. The service was great, our server took good care of us and the meal itself was good but positively not worth the price we paid. The filet mignon was good but no better than what I could get from say Outback. There was almost no seasoning to it. If you like that kind of thing than sure, it's wonderful. For the money, I've had better and nowadays (for me anyway) there needs to be value. The plain mashed potatoes.....so boring. Also I think for the money they charge and as long as they've been in business, they could spend a little more on cleaning (removing spider webs from chandeliers) and updating the place. We will never, never, ever go back.
Food was ok but for the price was poor, glassware was dirty. Cool location with history but way overpriced for the quality. It’s definitely not a Morton’s except for the price. After we left we checked the yelp reviews and they were all what we experienced.
Nice place to have a quiet dinner older house with lots of history, will recommend to try.
Always a great meal, can expect the same each time you visit.
Always a pleasurable experience at Sycamore Inn. One of our favorites.
Excellent food and service. If was easy to have a conversation.
This place is amazing the food is fantastic & the service is outstanding ‼️
Maybe I'm being a little nitpicky, but when you spend over a premium amount on dinner, you expect near perfection. The champagne was not chilled enough and the ribeye steak was kind of gristley. The waiter was on the rude side and would neglect us for a little longer than we felt was appropriate.
Those are the bad points and they were not really a deal breaker. I will still go back and would recommend the Sycamore Inn to anyone wanting to have a great meal at a very cool place. I just hope they read these reviews and tweak those minor details.
The seared Ahi and the Cajun shrimp were excellent. The calamari was average. The lamb and filet were excellent and the ribeys were very flavorful and cooked to perfection, but as I mentioned mine was way to gristly for what was supposed to be a prime cut of meat. The sauteed mushrooms, asparagus, and parmesan au gratin potatoes were to die for. The blue cheese mashed potatoes were very good. The Grand Marnier souffle was great, but I think they forgot to add the Grand Marnier! The coffee was excellent.
We love the old style ambiance of The Sycamore Inn. The food is always very good and the service is excellent. Our waitress, Dawn, was beyond exceptional. My only minus would be the music was a little loud. Another great evening, though.
We had a wonderful time.
Our food/service was excellent. Today was our anniversary, and they gave us a free dessert with a candle on it. We love this place.
Dinner with friends.
My nephew and I met to celebrate our birthday (yes, same day). The food was incredible (filet, asparagus w the red pepper aioli) and the service was the best! A great place, old school fine dining, and ambience. For dessert, the chocolate soufflé was an awesome experience! They gave my nephew and I a birthday bread pudding (we ate that too)! I can’t wait to go back! Honorable mention to Dawn, our server, was awesome!
Another wonderful dinner at the Sycamore Inn. We were there for a birthday celebration with six guests. We were seated at the time of the reservation. The service was spot on and the food was perfectly cooked.
This is a really cool place along Route 66. We sat a table where Joe DiMaggio and Marilyn Monroe sat. Loved the decor and the historic pictures which were well placed throughout the bar and dining room.
We were the first table in for the night and the pacing was a tad slower than we'd have liked as we did have another place to be two hours later and didn't get to enjoy dessert. Plan your whole night there and you'll have a phenomenal experience.
It's not inexpensive but it's one of those places that when you are there makes you feel like you really are "somewhere". Glad we went!
The Food was Excellent as always , the service was Good . We enjoy going to The Sycamore Inn because we know the food will always be very good , and if you have any problems , they will take care of it right away. The reason I said the service was Only "Good" , is because one of their servers that we really liked and always requested is no longer with us , he was always "Excellent" which even made the food and evening more enjoyable , We'll miss him . Service means a lot to us , our server(s) was good but it will be very hard to match " Bobby "
This place is amazing. Use to go a lot then moved away . So glad we found it again. It’s a must try if you have not been. Pricy but well worth every penny..
Excellant steaks and accompaniments, served by friendly, attentive servers. Love this restaurant!
On our first trip to Sycamore Inn, my 1 and a half year old son hadn’t had much of a nap that day and wouldn’t sit still. The service staff was so accommodating and helpful. They filled up his cup twice with milk and warmed it and brought him a plate of crackers. They were great! It was no question where I wanted to go for my birthday dinner. This place is excellent. The steak is awesome, the death by chocolate cake is amazing. We will be returning for sure.
Amazing service by the waiter and his assistant. The food was also awesome.
Absolutely loved everything about it, will be cooking back soon. Thank you
Haven’t dined here for quite a long time, so was glad to see that the Sycamore Inn is still one of the best fine dining experiences around.
We loved this restaurant. The food is spectacular. Every single item was delicious. The drinks are unique and delicious. The restaurant is like a supper club. The staff is extremely attentive and knowledgeable.
We will be back for the shrimp cocktsils artichokes filets and specialty drinks
Thank you fir a wonderful evening
Great value for NYE - would have like a couple other non beef or seafood options.
Even with a limited New Years Eve menu, the options were adequate and the food was wonderful.
On a very busy night, the service was attentive and excellent — with terrific personality. This is our tradition when in town for the Rose Bowl.
And thank you for having Turley on the menu-our lucky wine!
Excellent service and great food. It's been about 20 years since we were last there. Wont wait so long to go back.
We have been going to the Sycamore Inn for over 50 years and enjoy going to dinners there to celebrate birthdays and anniversaries. We won't be going to any more dinners at the Sycamore Inn if they will be serving a set menu as they do for some of the holidays. We had dinner on New Years Eve and once again were disappointed in the quality of the food that was served from the set menu. This has happened to us the 3 times that we have gone to Sycamore when they served the set menu. The quality of the meat is not up to the standards of the meat on the regular menu. It seems as if the meat is purchased from a different supplier as the steaks are not as good a quality. We definitely will continue to go to Sycamore Inn to celebrate special occasions but won't ever go again when they serve from a set menu. The waiter and server were excellent but the food was not.
