The Tasting Room
Service was terrible. Was slow. Rude. Food not good.
Great food and ambiance. Will definitely go back. Waited forever for drinks which came way after the food arrived. Manager apologized.
Made a note to have mimosas ready for us, and they were! Only thing is we can on Saturday for brunch, but brunch is only on Sunday’s. Didn’t see that on their website unfortunately. Otherwise, great food for the price. Entrees are between $12-30 with most being in the $17-22 range. Salads were small for the price, but tasted good.
If you are a foodie then you must go to The Tasting Room. Everything we ate and drank was amazing. The manager spoke with us about what we ordered and what kind wine we like, my husband prefers light reds and white while i prefer med to heavy reds, the manager recommended a wine that was perfect for us. Of course the price of the bottle was 3x as much as I found it when I looked online. It is a very pricey place but everything is great.
We dine here about 40-45 times a year - we are regulars and never disappointed. Staff and food are always good. We’re big fans of the filet mignon, crab dip, Spanish shrimp, and carrot cake.
Food was phenomenal (we ordered the crab dip, spicy chicken and waffles and the TR burger with sides of truffle fries and lobster mashed potatoes)! Brunch is a great alternative to dinner if you'd like to enjoy their delicious food and save a few bucks.
This was my wife's Birthday Celebration and the Tasting Room made it a true celebration. The food was great my wife had the NY Strip and I had the Filet Mignon. Mine was a perfect medium as requested and my wife's was well done as ordered. We started the meal with two cocktails and Lump crab dip, this was a great meal at a great price. At the conclusion the waiter brought a chocolate Schobert to die for on the house. I will be going back to the Tasting Room soon, We bought loved it!! The service couldn't have been better.
We love TR. We’ve been dining here since the opened in 2001. Great staff, great food. Everything is good.
Went here for New Year’s eve, great food and drinks. Would definitely visit again!
It was my wife’s birthday and I stopped by earlier and dropped her cake off ! They didn’t an amazing job with the service and food ! We will most definitely come back !! Thank you
Excellent reservation method, online. Food was perfect and service better.
The Tasting Room never disappoints. Service is always attentive and very friendly and the food is well prepared. The menu offerings are always creative. They go out of their way to accommodate my spouse, who is in a wheelchair. Try it!
Excellent food; service a bit slow and inconsistent; nice atmosphere and seating although somewhat cramped
Great food and excellent service. Highly recommend.
Went for a pre NYE dinner with girlfriends. Had a great time. We did have ask for bread a couple times before receiving it. Evidently we lingered longer than expected and were politely reminded there was a reservation waiting for the table. Even with these small things. it was a fabulous dining experience.
We’ve been eyeing this place for a few months, always seemed crowded and menu looked so good! We tried the Escargot and Stew... so disappointing to find the Escargot buried in Burgundy and onions sauce, and stew was water with 5 strands of arugula and no taste at all. Shrimp was “meh”. Bummer.
The concept was there but food was so disappointing we ended up Cutting the dinner short to leave. The waitress was equally as bad, she seemed to be rushing us, didn’t talk to us at all but was “there” every few minutes and was annoyed when we didn’t want more.
Great food and professional service! We will be back!
So disappointed to have to leave a poor review for a downtown Frederick staple restaurant, but I’m hoping by leaving a review, they will not repeat with another patron.
Last evening, my boyfriend and I had our first dining experience at the Tasting Room to celebrate his birthday. We were politely greeted and taken to our seats immediately (made a reservation for 5:15).
It was while the waitress was taking our drink orders that she informed there would be a reservation following ours at 6:45 pm. To say that I was disappointed to have received this information after knowing 1) I made a reservation 2) that we were dining for the first time at a restaurant that has always been so highly recommended 3) that we were celebrating an occasion, is merely an understatement.
I’ve since reported my experience with colleagues and friends, many of which suggested that we should have left immediately after being given what seemed like a time limit to enjoy our expensive meal.
Glad to have enjoyed our first and last dining experience with the Tasting Room. Best of luck in the future.
Great service. Food was very good. The TR is a consistent performing restaurant where I’ve never been disappointed. You are sure to have a good meal with great service every time you go!
The swordfish steak was outstanding. Our waiter, Leo, and others provided excellent service with just the right amount of attention.
Birthday lunch for 2. Was seated at a small table in the pathway to dining room. Had to get up to accommodate several people including a wheelchair, so asked to be reseated and the staff kindly did so. We had a wonderful lunch of Swordfish Milanese, Asian Chicken Salad, White Rioja and CA Chardonnay.. Great food and wine, lovely location for people watching and excellent service once we got seating straightened out!
Overall ok, but had to wait 35 mins past our reservation time.
Food was good...my husbands ribeye had no taste or grill marks but my salmon was very good. The tables are so close together that when you sit down it’s almost impossible to get up to use the bathroom. The 5 of us were crammed into a corner and we couldn’t get out. The waitress was very attentive and personable. Will probably not be returning.
Knowing TR is consistently amazing, my sisters, spouses, and I chose to dine there...again, and as always, it was a wonderful experience. Thank you to all the staff!
Delicious food prepared well, though on the night we arrived the escargot was sold out before 7pm, which was disappointing. But no real complaints beyond that.
We always have a great meal with attentive service.
Always a favorite restaurant when returning from Up north to Leesburg.
It's definitely a "steak place". Salmon was perfectly cooked but smothered in some sauce, and "asparagus" was 2 yellow stalks of mush. Have been to The Tasting Room for years but definitely not the excellent dining experience we've had before.
Zac was great. We opted for the Christmas special of steak, crab cake, and lobster. Fabulous!!!
Great food and service. Our server was exceptional. She was warm, friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Another big plus on this visit; The Tasting Room can sometime be so loud that you can't hear what the person is saying across the table. On this occasion is was quite nice. Perhaps is was our location at the rear left window table for four of the restaurant. We would certainly request this table in the future if we're with another couple. All in all, a wonderful outing.
Tasting Room is the best restaurant in town!! I would highly recommend the New York strip with sautéed mushrooms. My husband raved about his Salmon as well. Excellent service and always amazing food!!
It was deliciously spectacular! Thank you
Great food and service! Highly recommend!
Jeff Gordon rocks
Great place. Ate at a high top near the bar. The calamari appetizer was outstanding and the crab cakes were very good. Try one of their cocktails and you won't be disappointed.
The lobster chowder is always fabulous. The crab cakes, accompanied by au gratin potatoes, are always excellent. Service is very good. The Tasting Room is our go-to celebration restaurant. I highly recommend.
Was provided awesome service. Told them we were celebrating our daughter’s graduation from Towson University and the entire staff made the evening extra special for us
very elegant decor; lobster chowder is simply heavenly; perfect service; very hospitable general manager; one of our two favorite places in Frederick.
Best cocktails ever!!
The Tasting Room was an enjoyable experience, but pricey for what it is. The appetizers were just OK (spanish shrimp and calamari), the entrees were much better (crabcakes are a must, filet and ribeye also very good). The monkfish was very good, but small portions. The wine list was fun and we enjoyed the tastings. Acoustics were loud. Overall it was a nice experience, just skip the appetizers or go for a salad.
Amazing! More than expected
