The Tavern at Diamond Mills
Last minute birthday dinner for my girlfriend's 37th birthday and I'm glad I chose this place.
Everything was perfect. 5 stars. Loved it.
The staff and waiters were awsome.
I don't remember his name ( tall white guy ) made us feel like we were important and kept on checking on us. Even took off a drink from the bill one of my friends did not like.
I will definitely be back.
Not only was this place beautiful, but the food and service were amazing! Looking forward to our next visit.
beautiful place; eating out on the terrace in the afternoon sun, autumn leaves, overlooking the falls. perfect setting, spacious and quiet. We were three at lunch, my friends were very happy with choices (hamburger, crab cakes). My duck leg was tough, tasteless, the accompanying beans seemed as if they were merely rinsed after coming out of the can, and I personally do not understand the reason for raw Brussels sprouts.
Beautiful setting with a view of the falls. Outdoor seating with heaters. Wait staff very attentive.
40 min wait in spite of table reservation. Worst waiter we have had in many years.
The outdoor set up does not follow Covid regulations because it is almost fully enclosed at 100% capacity.
Absolutely horrible service....waited over 15 minutes after being seated and, despite our requests, we were never even approached by any wait staff....got up and walked out. This is the 2nd and last time we will go there.
Setting is fabulous (the waterfall...:), staff is extremely nice, tables are separated for social distancing. All that is great, and we are grateful for it. The drinks are imaginative and vividly described, they don't rock your world but they do their job. The food...is...how can I put this...terrible...(this is our second time there, we had the same experience before). I had the short ribs (on the recommendation of server) which were overcooked, bitter (neither in a good way) with some mushy carrots floating in glop. My dining partner had a palatable salmon with an extremely untasty quinoa/chard combo.
For some reason we ordered dessert - maple pot de creme with vanilla bourbon whipped cream - it seemed like we couldn't go wrong with that, but in fact you can...seemed more like the vaguely vanilla 'Snack Pack' puddings my mom used to give me for lunch 40 years ago, no HINT of maple, vanilla, or anything of the like.
The server was so nice but asked me at EVERY turn how everything was, I finally got sick of lying so just said, I swear in a nice way, "I hate to say this, but that dessert was not good" - and it was as if I'd short circuited everything. The poor guy just kept apologizing, I kept insisting it wasn't his fault and it didn't matter...but...um...why are you asking?
It's like home cooking by a not particularly good home cook.
These are very nice people and I'm glad they're open (hard to find places in Saugerties on a Monday night), but...please please please get a better chef or teach this one how to cook!
Sat on the patio with a nice view of the falls. A bit chilly with a few of the doors open, but the heaters helped. We ordered the charcuterie plate and were very disappointed with the variety...one cheese, and raisins as the dried fruits. The meats were OK. Our entrees were delicious.
We love the Tavern and we are usually satisfied. But last Sunday we brought some friends and, Murphy’s law, we had a bad experience. Service was too slow and it seems they were overwhelmed by too many patrons.
They did try to make it up, but the experience was ruined. I will not go too hard on them because I am confident they will come back strong. But I had to let them know.
Overall the food and atmosphere was very good. Our server did her best, but there was an overall tension amongst the bar tender and other staff throughout the experience.
We were rushed through our meal and when asking for an extra fork the bus staff literally handed it sharply at My husband with a curt “HERE!”
I wonder if do to Covid restrictions and The fact that it was busy, the management wasn’t able to support the staff in a way that people felt supported and that trickled down to the overall experience.
I would not say I won’t go back but I will be a bit wary.
The First Friday Oktoberfest menu was truly outstanding! And quite a value at $30 pp for a full 3-course meal. Service was excellent as well - Donald is the best.
The food was good, seemed a rather long wait drinks and food - but it was worth it. The thing we were most impressed with were the staff - they were courteous, friendly, helpful and welcoming - great job done by all. Would definitely return perhaps for dinner - brunch was good so we would like to try dinner.
This restaurant is amazing! The outdoor eating arrangements made me feel comfortable and safe (re: COVID). The view is unbeatable too!
As a vegetarian, I had many options on the menu and enjoyed a mix of starters, salads, and the pizza. I LOVED the carrot bruschetta, the fall salad, and the vegetarian pizza. I also enjoyed the fall desserts, especially the maple cheesecake. The food was flavorful without being too heavy. The wine selection is also great.
My server, Hasaan, was incredibly attentive and sweet. He was serving multiple tables at once, and was so calm and collected. His service really sweetened the meal.
I look forward to going back for my next celebration.
Just wonderful all around! FOOD + SERVICE = HAPPY CLIENTS!
Great food and service. The Terrace has a fantastic view. A little pricy but overall I would defiantly go back.
Excellent venue service and setting! Highly recommend. Food was well prepared and nicely presented.
Lovely venue. Food fantastic. Great wine list value. Going back tonight!
Some interesting recipes for standard fare. Pretty good burger with big fries, about 1/4 of a potato each, covered with parmesan, tasty. Even though I ordered the meat medium to medium well it came medium rare. I was too hungry to send it back, but it was just barely cooked enough for my taste. The toppings were good. They were serving "Massive" oysters and they were. The biggest oysters I have ever seen, they were shucked properly and served ice cold with all their juices. That was a unique treat. The salmon and the sticky tofu were well prepared but not very tasty. The food is good hotel fare. Not sure I would recommend this place, there are better in the area. Might try it again for lunch.
Nice outdoor space over the Esopus Falls; food was good but I think overpriced for the area.
such a beautiful oasis in the land of covid. outside in the fresh air overlooking a waterfall. what could be better?
I thought the service was amazing! From the hostess, waiter and the bussers. Everyone who so nice and friendly and attentive! The food also came out very fast. However, the quality of food was very lacking. We had ordered a rib eye and it was not done as asked / was very very chewy. Unfortunately the high price for food is not equivalent to high quality of food.
The view was spectacular! It is unfortunate that the food was not up to par.
Great meal. lovely view.
As always the food and service was great! My siblings and myself took my Mom out for a birthday luncheon. The strip steak special was outstanding. The Tavern Burgers and Tavern Ceasar Salad with steak on the daily menu were delicious.
This was such an awesome experience and a nice day getaway! Great view of the waterfall and even better food! Very fairly priced as well!!
Nice place with nice views. Good service. Good food
Everything was truly wonderful from start to finish! We enjoyed brunch outside on the patio, and the view was beautiful. The staff was attentive and the ambience was great. The food was AMAZING!!! The chef really knows what he is doing. The entire Farm to Table menu is delicious, so it makes it hard to choose what to get. My recommendation, just do what I did and order all of it. You won’t regret it! Thank you to all of the incredible staff for doing a job well done during these uncertain times, and for making everyone feel safe and comfortable.
Went for “First Friday” dinner special. Food was outstanding. Location is beautiful, overlooking the dam on the Esopus Creek in Saugerties. Tables well spaced apart (as now required by NYS).
However the waiter, while being very pleasant, was not good with his follow through. We ordered a second glass of wine, he had to be reminded. (He admitted that he forgot to submit the order.) We had asked him twice for refill on the water (they provide a bottle to the table), he never brought it, (the bus person passed by the table and we asked her and we had it instantly.)
He did apologize for the delay in dessert being served. There was a backup in the kitchen...and he informed the F&B manager who stopped by the table to apologize also.
When he brought the check, he quickly dropped it on the table, said “ no rush “ and took off...we waited for over 10 minutes for him to return to our table...(I ended up going inside to pay the bill...at which point he saw me and came over to me.)
My husband and I celebrated our 12th year wedding anniversary at The Tavern at Diamond Mills and it was amazing. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. The waiter asked us if we were celebrating anything special that night and we said yes. He congratulated us and directed us to our table. As soon as I saw the view of the waterfall i was in love. Our waiter Jimmy was amazing. Since my husband is vegan he made sure that everything he ordered was vegan friendly. He would check in to make sure all was good. The food was delicious. We live all the way in Long Island, NY. If it wasn’t for the long drive to get there I would of returned again this weekend. I loved it so much and will definitely return if we are ever in the area again.
Chairs on the patio were not that comfortable. Food was OK to great depending upon the meal. Salmon was great, apps were wonderful....hangar steak undercooked for those who ordered medium. Took forever to get beverages and desert was served to the birthday girl BEFORE anyone desert orders taken for the table.
Exit doors were chained closed in the hotel, creating an incredible risk of death in the event of a fire.
We had a very nice lunch here on August 29, 2020 and sat outdoors with an excellent view of the waterfall in the Esopus Creek. As a starter we had the beef bruchetta which was delicious. Two servings was enough for thee as a starter. For our main course we had the starter size crab cake which also was excellent with lots of crab meat and little "filling".
The restaurant is about 15 minutes from Opus 40, a very unique "sculpture" museum, very much worth visiting.
Perfect setting for our anniversary dinner. Can't wait to go back with family...
A friends bday. Service was good for the main but after plates were cleared our waiter was no where to be found. Finally reappeared to take coffee/dessert order and returned with the bday dessert without the usual bday presentation. This was after he asked about her bday and it was noted in the reservation.
Overly priced for the area however, the food was delicious, best meal we had on our long weekend. That being said it was pricey, by far the most expensive meal we had this past weekend. It was also very confusing as the menu advertised a "seemingly restaurant week style ad" but in fact was not an actual restaurant week menu. I would have ordered very differently had it been clear. We ended up spending a lot more ($40 more) on the meal than planned by the confusing marketing and messaging . The quality of the food was great but I did feel duped by the misleading advertising and I think the server could have been a lot better about communicating this.
Fabulous food, fabulous service, fabulous atmosphere!
innovative and interesting menu, attentive staff and beautiful setting.
Dined outside. The tables were well-distanced. Staff were all masked. Guests were required to mask except when at their tables.
Service was attentive without being intrusive. Food was nicely presented. Very good.
Great outdoor dining location in Saugerties.... overlooking the Esopus Creek and the waterfall at the dam. Service and food were great..
Great outdoor dining experience. All the staff had masks and the tables where generously spaced apart. The lunch menu has a nice variety. The crab cake appetizer is small, but very good.
I Loved it!!! The food, the service. Everything was excellent. I will come back soon!!!
