The Westgate Hotel - Sunday Brunch & Le Fontainebleau Room
Amazing food service and ambiance only issue is it is a little loud sitting right next to the piano. Love the buffet
We had a great experience. I just wish that parking is complimentary. We had three cars and paid for three cars added expense. this could prevent us from dining in the future. The foods were delicious. they had cheese and no crackers.
I was served only a layer of fat from the lamb because it ran out and wasn't replaced. The hot food was cold and tasteless, except for the mashed sweet potatoes. My server showed up three times in two hours. Very disappointing experience.
Thanksgiving Brunch. Was very, very, nice but certainly not outstanding. Great desert offerings. We had heard so much about it. Was actually a little disappointed. Again, very nice but would not go back. Our waiter was very nice, but very forgetful.......
I actually went for Thanksgiving, not Sunday brunch. The food was terrible. Nothing was enjoyable to anyone in my party. Very disappointing for $100/person. A lot of other guests were vulgar. Some of them talked loudly about getting ham butt and butt juice.
Most of the staff were lovely and helpful, but our server seemed to become overwhelmed. We were unable to get coffee and had to ask our manager for our check after trying to attract our server three times.
I definitely would recommend avoiding this in the future.
Great Thanksgiving Day meal. The service was excellent. The food was excellent as usual. There was a guest in my area that was loud and obnoxious but the staff addressed the issue. I will be back next year. Keep up the great service.
Having enjoyed the Westgate Sunday Brunch many times -- and loving every visit -- we decided to go to its Thanksgiving Buffet. We were not disappointed! Food selection was varied and excellent, service was first rate, and the ambiance was classy without being stuffy. It was truly an exceptional dinner at an exceptional location.
This was our first time here and it was for the Thanksgiving Buffet. Everything was fantastic. Or servers, Sunny and Seamus were extremely accommodating and attentive. Really an overall great experience.
Service was exceptional in every way and food was delicious. Highly recommended!!
Probably one of the most unique buffets you'll ever experience very high-end. Everything was fresh ,excellently prepared and arranged except the crab claws which had zero taste perhaps it is a seasonal thing but there's a hundred items more where that came from. The desserts are to die for so leave some room. Get the root beer float for something very original.
This was a gift and WOW! BEAUTIFUL SETTING. Selection and presentation displayed were so unique. Definitely a special occasion dining.
The service was terrible. Had a reservation for my group of 5 and the "Maitr'D" refused to seat us in the main room because my reservation didn't state that, despite the fact that the main room tables were half empty. He wanted to give us the worst table in the house (looked like a banquet hall) but after a much too lengthy argument he caved in and "allowed" us to sit in the main room- making it sound like he was granting us the world's largest favor. I found the experience quite jarring as we were there to celebrate a birthday and he was just on a power trip. No one ever sat down at the tables that remained open either!
Always enjoying coming to this brunch before our Sunday matinees downtown. Service and food are always terrific!
This is always great. We always have great service and food
Always happy to celebrate my birthday here. Upscale yet still fun. Pianist is always willin got take requests.
This was our second visit for brunch and we were a bit disappointed the first time but thought we would try again and we were certainly impressed, food was fresh and hot, delicious deserts and the champagne was much better. Service was outstanding!
I have been here 3-4 times in the past. Food quality lacking. Used to have snow or king crab claws. Just had jonas crab claws—terrible. Sushi cut way too thick. Mac cheese dried out. Prime rib was the highlight. Desert were acceptable. Service was outstanding. Plenty to drink.
The many times we have gone to the Westgate Sunday Brunch, we have never been disappointed!!! The quality and variety of the food, the food presentation, the elegant ambiance, the personable and attentive staff are all top notch.
Best Sunday brunch food and service by Adrian/Sunny.
Marvelous. Drive from Los Angeles to San Diego just for that.
The brunch at the Westgate Hotel Le Fountainebleau Blue room was the best my wife and I have ever had in our lives. This classic old-school institution has not lost their passion for excellent service, food and atmosphere.
They don't make them like they used. It felt like "Once upon time" when the customer is more important than the profit margin of the hotel and restaurant. Considering the expansive food offerings open bar and level of service at $70 a person it is actually a very good value.
My wife and I travel the world trying new foods and restaurants. The foods I sampled at the Westgate Sunday brunch was just as good or even better than those that we have had during our travels.
There were only three exceptions:
1.the Aujus tasted tasted weird to me. I had one of my dining partners try it and she confirmed that the it was not very good,
2. the rice for the sushi was not as fresh as you get at sushi restaurants but better than most buffets. The fish was really fresh at the sushi station!!!
3. The coffee was not as hot as I would have liked and we were not offered bread or muffins at our table although other tables were offered.
My husband and I went to the Westgate for their beautiful Sunday brunch to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The entire experience was wonderful! The food, drinks and service was exceptional and would highly recommend the brunch for any occasion. Our waiter, Seamus, presented us with a lovely dessert, made for us by the pastry chef in honor of our anniversary! A truly unforgettable experience!
The host was gracious and moved us to a booth upon request which was much nicer than the three top table surrounded by other guests. Table service was prompt with solid hospitality. My first run at the brunch fell short, for the eggs Benedict were ice cold and the egg whites were far to runny. The caviar, smoked salmon and meat plates were solid. I would have liked a better selection of cheeses however. After I sat with my first plate a man approached our table and abruptly asked me for the name on the reservation and at what time. I realize he was seeing if we had just sat ourselves but he was accusatory and far from friendly.
My second trip to the brunch stations found cold lamb and cold prime rib. For the $60 a head I would have expected hot food. My families omelette were flat and over cooked.
The desserts were good the lemon sorbet was wonderful the tiramisu was odd with no lady fingers just crushed hazel nuts and the creme brûlée’s were undercooked running and watery.
Finally the amount of Chinese food on the buffet was really odd for a Sunday brunch. I like dumplings but Generals Toas chicken, a curried fish and egg rolls? That’s to name only a few.
For the dollar I say nay. Overall service at the table was a yes and the very rude gentlemen with the iPad it is time to find a new line of work or get some hospitality training.
Best of luck
Great Upscale Brunch. Beautiful Ambiance. Great Service. I Love it.
Beautiful experience for a special occasion, lots to choose from and it is all decorated in such an elegant way. This is my favorite brunch place by far.
It was up to its usual standard! Except our server she was exceptional!
Had the best birthday brunch every yesterday! I hope to make it an annual tradition!
Very good food, excellent service, nice people. An excellent assortment of dishes. Fantastic desserts!
It was a nice Father’s Day brunch. Nice selections of dishes. The food was delicious and the service is spectacular! The layout is kind of weird. We sat in the very back of the room which looked like an overflow dining area in a hallway. I definitely enjoyed the variety of food.
Fabulous Brunch for Father’s Day! We were very impressed with the food, service and ambiance. Incredible selections at food stations that served small portions, and all drinks were included: Bloody Mary, Margarita, champagne, orange juice, coffee or tea. We will definitely come back when we are in San Diego!!
I enjoyed the food. there were some misses with some of the dishes, the fried spring rolls were under cooked so they were mushy inside. There were no salads without meat or cheese on them. Only one vegetable dishes.
Very elegant and classy venue. The service was excellent and every staff member we encountered was unbelievably friendly!! A bit pricey at $65 per person. Perfect for special occasions.
The Sunday brunch is an indulgence. There is no way to eat enough food to satisfy the cost, but as long as you are okay with paying for the experience, it is worth it. The service is amazing--but as the room gets more crowded, not quite as attentive as you might want. Many of the dishes were prettier than they were tasty, but on the whole everything was good. I don't believe I will go back again soon, but I definitely will go back.
Sunday brunch was great as it has been for many years, but the formerly great service has declined dramatically. The seafood & meat carving people have an ongoing conversation, and act annoyed when a customer comes over to ask for assistance. Table waiters, which used to provide almost white-globe service, now just put down your coffee cup with a clang and rush away. Hope this was a one time aberration, but didn’t seem that way.
The food was not as tasty as the previous time I visited. Food selection is very limited and some of the items didn’t look tasty at all.
It was my first time having brunch here. From the moment my son and I arrived, we were treated like royalty.
The food options were overwhelming, there was so much to choose from. I’m not complaining.
My champagne glass stayed full, our dirty plates quickly removed.
Overall, it was a beautiful day that my son and I will not forget.
Service was impeccable and thoughtful and the food was great! Wonderful experience, thank you.
We went for mother's day, so it was significantly more expensive for the special event, however it was a memorable experience.
Splendid Mom’s day brunch. Mom and dad continually spoke of how nice the morning was. The dining rooms were elegant. The seafood station and dessert stations were a must. The service was impeccable (and we had some special requests that were all graciously attended to) with servers, cooks, managers, and others treating us as VIPs. What a special day! Bravo.
So much variety, all fresh beautifully presented food.
Service was first rate. Staff very quick to remove finished plates etc.
All staff really helpful and helpful.
The hotel and the room we ate in was spacious, airy and beautifully decorated with lovely fresh flowers in abundance.
One of the best Brunches we have enjoyed.
