The Wharf Restaurant

We couldn’t visit as planned on Christmas Eve sadly due to the lockdown so this represents an earlier visit in the summer. It’s a lovely restaurant with great open views over the river. Food is excellent as is the service. Hopefully we will be able to go back again soon.

It's a very nice restaurant the service and food are good but don't like seeing dogs in a place where we have gone out for a meal with the exception of course being dogs for the blind

Fantastic service right from the greeting as you arrive. Lovely food, ambiance and an un rushed dining experience.

We really enjoyed our evening out. The staff were very welcoming and the music was brilliant, the food was very good too. Overall a Very memorable evening. We will be coming back

Nice location and good cocktails. Friendly staff (if not as attentive as you would like). Lovely starter but both mains were very average and only half eaten. Venue and atmosphere require more from the food.

We celebrated a 21st birthday here and had a fabulous evening. The food was lovely, the service was attentive and the conservatory looked so pretty with the fairy lights and Christmas tree. I highly recommend!

Wonderful location by the river. Well spaced tables and 'open' atmosphere. Flexible opening times means that there are numerous quieter periods which creates a relaxing atmosphere in relation to COVID concerns. Great staff and excellent service. Deservedly popular.

The staff who served us were not very friendly and were slow to catch our eye when we were wanting to ask for mire water or wine- certainly not as friendly , attentive or looking like they were wanting to be there

Superb Sunday lunch as always, great with music and Xmas lights.

The nicest restaurant for many miles . Great food and live jazz band was such a treat for a Sunday afternoon .

Arrived 10 minutes or so before our table booking. Received a less than enthusiastic welcome from the maitre d who was intent on rushing us to the table. We had to call him back and indicate that we wanted to have a drink in the bar area beforehand. He was awkward about where we sat and said we had 10 minutes because the band was coming on. We sat in the place of our choosing In the event we had plenty of time before going to our table. Tracy Ray band first class as always.
Thereafter everything was perfect - food was excellent and good value and the service exemplary. Attentive but not intrusive and all with a genuine smile and enthusiasm. All the staff save for the m d were enthusiastic and welcoming. Chatted to the Manger on our way out. She was delightful and apologetic. Such a pity about initial welcome.

Some menu item a not available on the night, which reduced the choice.

Straining at the leash to get out first day after lockdown and thought we'd try The Wharf. Firstly, staff are lovely and friendly. The layout has been done really well with the new regulations and seating is cosy and comfortable. Food was really good, and well priced. Wine list equally had something for even the most discerning of customers and was not badly priced. In and out in the allotted 2 hours but we didn't feel like we had been rushed at all. Will certainly return.

Nice ambience as had live music, pretty riverside setting and nice decor. Food average unfortunately. Welcome/front desk service dreadful, table service a bit better. Biggest let down was the complete lack of covid awareness. Tables of 8+, wait staff wearing masks under their noses or hanging off their ear! No mask or visor at all on front desk staff, re-using paper menus. Overall a really uncomfortable experience in current climate, very much a “stuff it it’s the last night before lockdown” vibe, such a shame.

Last hurrah before lockdown - very good all round.

Our last chance to lunch here before the second lockdown. We really enjoy the food here as it always of a very high standard, though we would like one or two more veggie options. This was only our 3rd visit but already the staff remember us & are welcoming & friendly. With autumn colours, the sun shining, beautiful views down the river & excellent food, this was the perfect way to spend a November afternoon.

Excellent meal, restaurant was very busy so service was slightly delayed.
That said we’ve been there several times and it has never disappointed

Delicious food, attentive staff and manager, lovely views, great ambience. A perfect location for my wife's 40th birthday lunch.

A lovely meal in great surroundings. The only slight negative was the young man serving is who was not at all welcoming compared to the other staff.

Slight confusion between the direct email dining offer and the small print on the main menu - meant we had embarrassing debate about the offer that had enticed us thru the door.. delightful welcome from female front of house offset by grumpy waiter ....she came to ask us 40 mins after seating how’s food? We haven’t had any.....she chased for us and it arrived 5 mins later....

Best local restaurant around for miles . Fab food ambience and service. Where else can you listen to live jazz on a Sunday

Ambience was wonderful..loved the place

Great location. Fish and seafood cooked to perfection. An unexpected surprise was the pianist that make the experience even better. The service was polite and fast without any glitches. We will definitely recommend and hope to return soon.
