The Whistling Swan Inn & Restaurant
Steak & Eggs
ribeye, egg, hollandaise, roasted potatoes
We have always enjoyed the Whistling Swan restaurant! The food and service are great. We also know that during Covid 19 times restaurants have to adapt to the new normal. We were pleased to see social distancing and masks were in place on the long porch where we sat. The bar was another story, and a bit disconcerting since customers need to pass through that space to get to the restrooms. Also, a small suggestion: adding a candle to each table on the porch would improve the ambiance which has become a bit bleak due to spacing restrictions. That being said, we enjoyed our rare evening out (these days) and appreciate the adaptations made in order to respect distancing and safety.
While the food was very good, the young ladies working were less than attentive. We had to request refills on our drinks and never did receive the water we requested. The restaurant was not busy but it took 45 minutes to get our breakfast. Unacceptable in our book.
For the ambience of the restaurant, the young ladies' belly shirts and skin tight leggings were not appropriate.
We enjoyed our dinner at the Whistling Swan. The food and service were very good. Right now, the menu is fairly small.
There is an enclosed veranda and a separate room for eating. We sat in the separate room which has about five tables and were very comfortable. Nicely decorated and wonderful ambiance.
Great food and fresh. We weren’t rushed through our dinner and enjoyed every aspect of dining there.
We've visited this restaurant numerous times over the years and found the food just OK this time around. The coconut soup was lovely. We loved the butterscotch ice cream and cookies. The the scallops were undercooked on the inside and tasted like frying oil on the outside. The sauce on the mushrooms and potatoes was overwhelming. The creme brullee seemed like a mistake, substituting goat's milk for cream. The steak was tasty; the texture not the best, but my husband is a steak snob (also expecting a rib-eye which we saw on the online menu). I liked very much the quinoa with corn and had a helping for lunch the next day.
Excellent food and service roasted carrots really unique
Amazing food, not crowded, amazing beer & wine. Perfect dinner!
Whistling Swan always provides a delightful atmosphere with high quality locally sourced food. The service is impeccable.
Expected a fine dining experience. Staff was very casual, I found this strange. Had an 8:00 reservation and when seated we were asked to order because the kitchen would be closing.
I ordered the salmon which was tasty but cold. When I asked it to be warmed they were happy to do so but stated it was a dish designed to be served cold. The menu description did not lead me to that understanding since the menu stated grilled salmon.
Over all it was a lack luster dining experience and with our bill for 4 coming in at $180 I would have expected more.
Love. Would eat there every night. This trip eating there 2 out of 3 dinners.
Great! Wonderful dinner.
Great food with a fun twist! The wait staff is exceptional, would dine her often.
Our server Claire made the experience 10 times more enjoyable. The food was phenomenal per usual!!!
Love the Whistling Swan. We’ve been coming here for years because of the fire rate food and ambience. This was the first time bringing our kids. The hostess and servers did a great job accommodating everyone’s needs.
The kids had a wonderful meal and tried some new foods which we could never get them to eat at home. Everyone had amazing food and we will cherish the experience.
Whistling Swan always delivers a delicious meal and outstanding service. In this time of the pandemic they managed to make dining feel relaxed and respected social distancing boundaries, certainly not easy I’m sure. It was appreciated and I felt that safety was important for them. Looking forward to my next visit.
Would have preferred a window table
We love Whistling Swan. It is a hidden gem in DC, with a great history, as well as staff and food!
It was over an hour between the time we ordered the food and when it finally came. Several other t@bles that arrived after us recurved their fun before us. No explanation was offered only did we want more drinks. We did not order difficult food.
They do not have a full bar; which was surprising to us since they categorize themselves as a “supper club”.
Everyone was friendly and the food was good; but was not many options. They were out of two entrees by 7:30pm.
We were there for an anniversary dinner and it was acknowledged but expected the offer of a free dessert or glass of champagne.
Amazing meal! So worth the wait and the staff was attentive!
Wonderful food and drink. They did a wonderful job keeping folks social distances and safe. Definitely will return. The cornbread appetizer was delicious and enough for four people. My friends all raves about the steak, salmon and m6 fish was very good
The flavor of the food was outstanding, but not a lot of choices on the entre menu (was different than the menu online on open table) and nothing on the dessert menu was remotely interesting . We thought we would just go out for custard later, but our 7 pm reservation and the service, though pleasant, took longer and so we didn’t get out in time for dessert elsewhere. While they did a great job of social distancing indoors, we missed the opportunity to sit outside on a beautiful summer evening in Wisconsin, which are far too few. We choose this place as it was recommended for a romantic dinner (it was our anniversary) and while we enjoyed our food and server, we would likely try elsewhere with so many dining choices in door county.
The menu was limited, obviously due to covid, however it was nothing to rave about. Our hostess was less than delightful upon arrival and we felt very put off by the staff. Our waitress was friendly, but I don’t need to go back. I ordered the barramundi fish. When it came out, it was covered with a spicy jerk style rub that was not listed on the menu. Thankfully, I don’t mind hot/spicy foods-not what I was expecting. It’s too bad because it’s a beautiful place. Perhaps given the times and pandemic going on, they are doing their best. Hoping others have a more positive experience.
Whistling Swan just doesn’t disappoint. Everything was fantastic. Our server, Lola, was very attentive and gave great wine recommendations. The food was just about perfect. Great ambiance and not too loud. It was very clear the staff was up to speed on their Covid prevention. Great job WS crew!
Dinner was very good, for the most part. A few pieces of the steak was a little well done. But good ambience and great service.
The venue is really cute and the service was friendly and professional. They implemented all the COVID guidelines and it felt very comfortable to dine in. The food was really amazing and delightful, with fresh, quality ingredients.
One of our usual spots for when we visit door county. Had the spaghetti and mushrooms and the baramundi. The noodles were made from scratch and the sauce was incredible. The portions were just right and all the staff was friendly and accommodating. Thanks for a great meal.
Excellent quality food. Quiet night out secluded from the rest of the busy town.
The last time we came to The Whistling Swan was in 2016. Everything was amazing. The food, the service, all of it. We were excited to come back again this time with our kids. Obviously things have changed since the virus, so the menu has been reduced. The prices were outrageous for the food offered. 2 pieces of cod with fries were $26. A tough, not good hangar steak was $32. It was so bad I only ate one piece of it. My two kids ordered pasta which was good but still very overpriced for what we got. We spent well over $100 on a meal that the equivalent of very bad bar food. The service was great, our waitress was great. But to charge that much for food and have it be such a low standard is a shame. We won’t be going back.
Very good service and good practices followed. We will return again!
Beautiful, historic restaurant in a hopping part of Door County. The food was locally grown & scrumptious!! Our compliments to the chef!! Waitstaff was quick & super friendly!
Fantastic food and service. GiGi was our server with her daughter and both were a joy to have around us. This is a mist visit restaurant and inn.
We just love dining out at the Swan...opened my app to make another reservation for tonight! The food is delicious, and the setting is stunning (both the historical building and the lovely town you stroll to and from the restaurant). I recommend having an earlier dinner and then walking down to see the sunset!
We just decided to go here because it was a restaurant on Open Table in Fish Creek. We did not expect how good the food was going to be. Everything from the fish taco appetizer to the butterscotch pudding was phenomenal! We will definitely return here when we come back to Door County.
We celebrated Valentine’s weekend with my daughter, son-in-law and their children. This has become an annual tradition.
They were very accommodating to gluten-free needs. Great brussel sprouts!
Wonderful everytime! I am a repeat customer and will continue to return!
Excellen fruit sour beer, mushroom entree, and cheese plate.
No sides with meals, no refills on soda or water, 3% fee for credit card use. What food we got was ok.
Our food, the ambience and service was great. I've been here a few times before and the Whistling Swan is always a go to for me when in the area. Awesome! Thanks!
