The main dining area is so lovely always, but especially in the cooler months. We sat right next to the fireplace. The room was nicely spaced so you felt distanced from others. The light is low and the mood very relaxed. The food is always great but last night was particularly excellent. We have never enjoyed walleye quite this much....& my swordfish was inventive and superb. Great salad and cheese starters. I think the Swan is a gem. Service was lovely also....just right attentive. I suspect that when visitors experience this place for the first time they must feel like they have really hit the jackpot. I live here and I feel the same.
Loved the ambiance and our server was really excellent. The food was hit or miss. The beet salad and vegetarian dish were excellent. The fish fry and swordfish - not so much. The fried fish tasted like it was cooked in oil that was past its prime. The swordfish was bland and...mushy.
I mentioned that we were there celebrating my moms 85th birthday so I thought they might do a little something- but they didn't. However, I understand that everyone is short staffed right now, so some of the niceties get skipped.
I'd return for drinks and appetizers but not a meal.
We had a group of six friends for dinner at the Whistling Swan. One person in our group must eat “glutin free”. She and the rest of our party were thrilled at all of the food choices we were offered. The menu is clearly marked for “GF” (glutin free) and “DF” (dairy free”). It made the evening go perfectly. Thank you, Whistling Swan!
The setting is very nice while being very casual. The menu is very limited, but what they had was very good. The prices were a bit high, but given it is a remote resort town during off season that is not unusual.
Lovely restaurant with a fun menu. Great service, fun venue!
Wonderful little restaurant. Our server was wonderful and even gave us a place to go after dinner. My beet and blue cheese salad was incredible. Would definitely visit again!
Wednesday night dining. Quiet, mostly locals. Pork ragu was excellent over house made fettuccini. Wine list a pleasant surprise with variety of not just domestic but enough wines from France and Italy to satisfy a picky chooser.
Always one of our favorites, and they always knock it out of the park!
Terrific dinner and Claire and Scott made us feel at home.
One of the best restaurants on the peninsula. Hats off to the owners and an incredible team.
Lovely location with wonderful wine & menu.
We loved the ambience in the first level of an inn, super beautiful. I enjoyed the pork chop.
Beautiful ambiance but over priced average food. Ridiculously small portions.
Love this place but it's difficult to rate service as they are short staffed but the people working did a great job.
The food was outstanding and our sever, Gretchen, was very attentive. It is always a treat to come here for a relaxed dinner in a beautiful setting. Will definitely be back.
Everything we had was delicious and inventive. Our roasted beet salad with the bread service was a great start, to be followed by our outstanding entrees of pink peppercorn crusted swordfish and Karma Pork Chops and ending with Blackbird Bakery Chocolate Cake -- we thoroughly enjoyed everything and the restaurant itself adds to the special vibe -- thank you!
This was a perfectly lovely meal—the food was excellent, the service was great, and the ambience was cozy and comfortable.
We had a friend visiting Door County for the first time and we selected Whistling Swan as our nice dinner out restaurant. As always, there was no disappointment in either the quality of the food, the presentation, creativity, or service.
The burrata appetizer with n'duja sausage was delightful and the roasted beet salad is always a great choice.
The local double porkchop was tender and delicious and the steak selection was prepared perfectly and very flavorful.
I highly recommend the Whistling Swan to anyone who is looking for a creative, yet approachable dining a experince
Atmosphere and food was very good but they seemed understaffed as are most restaurants. I was very happy that as a party of "one" I was not relegated to a bar stool which happens at a lot of fine dining establishments. While I was seated in the bar, it was at a normal table for 4 near the fireplace which I very much appreciated. It was very quaint. Menu was not extensive but it was interesting along with a few usual continental dishes. I would definitely go back.
Amazing food and great service. We visited 3 times in our weeks stay. Great wine selection. Special place that we will return to.
Our server did not even introduce herself or ask us if we'd like a drink or appetizer.
The entree my partner was interested in was already gone.
VERY pricey swordfish dish, but good flavor.
I had the bucatini with tomatoes and capers, loved it. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce was delicious.
My husband had the jerk chicken with green curry, peas and rice. The jerk sauce was wonderful, the chicken was juicy and flavorful, the rice was fluffy and delicious. And that curry sauce was a wonderful surprise. We’ve been coming to whistling sean for years and almost always our expectations are exceeded! Great job once again!!
We had the swordfish, shrimp, and walleye. All tasted amazing and the service was great!
Gretchen, our server, was amazing and gave us the best recommendations for our food and wine.
Carrots were fantastic - the combination of garlic, honey, calabrese with goat cheese was really unique. Steak was perfectly cooked.
Absolutely an amazing experience! We are visiting Fish Creek for my Birthday and this was our first dinner! We love all the flavors and presentation!
Food good with limited menu and no liquor license.
We loved the relaxed feel of this place, we definitely would return to try more dishes.
The desserts were awesome!
Great food and great service- per usual!
Lola was our server. She select our wine, one red, one white. Both excellent choices. Love the local produce, baked items, meats. Great experience.
Salad and entree were very well prepared. The frittes were so overly salted it was ridiculous. Wine selection is great. Waitress pushed an expensive wine … that was bothersome. Restaurants was loud! No quiet conversations here. But food is good, generally.
Our waitress was helpful in making sure we were able to find food choices that fit our restrictions
We had a wonderful meal at the Whistling Swan. The service was excellent, the farm to table food was wonderfully prepared and presented, and the dining room was very quaint and comfortable. We will definitely dine here again when we return to Door County!
Shrimp appetizer was especially good.
Heirloom tomato salad was a disappointment. The greens and dressing were good enough but the tomatoes had been refrigerated and were beyond ripe. Still, being rather hungry, we ate them anyway.
Our entrees (bass and chicken) were tasty and satisfying though the bass was underdone in the center and there was a bit too much curry sauce in the chicken dish for our tastes.
Service was friendly and efficient.
The food was excellent as was the wine. I expect service to be slower during this time when restaurants can not find adequate staff. Service may have been slower than some would like but the staff was very pleasant and apologized but it gave us time to enjoy our wine and the food was well worth the wait.
The Whistling Swan has become one of our go to places over the years, and now that we have moved to the area permanently it will be a place we dine at often.
We took friends their to celebrate their 40th Anniversary and they were quite impressed with the meals they had. The sirloin steak was pronounced the best that had been had and the double porkchop was delicious.
I highly recommend the spicy roasted carrot appetizer. We have had it before and I have attempted to replicate it at home with some success, but the Swan's is better.
The wine list continues to offer a great selection at many price points and the presentation of the plates is top notch.
If you are celebrating something special, or just want a really good meal I do not hesitate to suggest you book a table at the Whistling Swan
It has changed a little since the last time we were there. Miss the little surprises they use to have
Service and food were exceptional as always. I asked for a special table and they were able to grant our request. We'll be back!
