Tierra Sur at Herzog Wine Cellars
What a treasure! The Herzog wine offerings are world class--try something from their "Library". The menu proteins are sophisticated. There is no false modesty here--from first course forward--all remarkable. Jacob, a ten year Herzog server, took care of us---low key and very competent! Hope you are as lucky. We met Gabriel and Andre (head chef and general manager). Do not hesitate to find this gem tucked away in a working winery located in an Oxnard strawberry field! An expensive menu that leaves you thinking about one thing-- your next opportunity to return with friends!
A little pricey, but always delicious. Fresh Kosher food.
We were a huge group and got very tipsy from the wine tasting which was beyond amazing. Michael served us The wine and was outstanding in his knowledge and patience. We were a big and loud group but your waiter Anton handled us very well and made it such a unforgettable experience. The food was beyond description. What an experience. We will never forget and will almost definitely recommend to all and come again !!!!
We had the Salmon and it came cold. they do not give bread basket anymore, you have to pay $6.- on top of an average $200.- meal for 2 people. This is not our first time here, more like 6-7 time, and one of us felt somewhat hungry after the meal, we had appetizers too, and we were not as happy as in past visits , we had a few times guests with us, but I think will take a break from here for a while.
also one of us had a glass of wine, and when the waiter came around and offered/ asked if the guest wants more wine, the waiter did not say "this is going to be charged as 2nd glass of wine, he just poured the wine, i felt that was not right.
I think the all you can eat buffet is too expensive especially for people who cannot eat a large volume of food. I prefer ordering what I wish to eat as it was in the past. Also, when the restaurant gets super busy, the staff cannot keep up with volume. When I got to the buffet, a lot of the serving trays were empty and you have to ask for things that run out like cups, water, etc. They should also not charge you for service by requesting a tip as no specific waiter is assisting any given table.
Our waiter was the most excellent part of our experience. He was not only pleasant, but extremely helpful. For a meal that costs almost $200 for just two people, however, charging for 6 pieces of bread is outrageous. It almost ruined our experience. The desserts were also not earth shattering; dry and somewhat tasteless. However, the entrees were so good, almost all is forgiven, except the bread.
Waiter was great. Very pleasant and knowledgeable about wine, food and pairing the two.
Great service by an amazing waiter who I didn’t get his name!
The food served to us was beautiful but had no salt and was not seasoned. Not special or worth what we paid.
we treated our children from NJ together with their young children to what turned out to be their best night out. Although we had young children with us we received incredible service together with amazing food. We are grateful for your providing us with a wonderful evening and memory
The best Kosher restaurant in both sides of the coasts between NY and LA - outstanding food, magical ambiance (especially as a romantic date), service is impeccable. I have gone over 50 times to this restaurant and loved it each time.
The food was amazing
Everything we ordered was delicious
We didn’t feel that we were given all our options when ordering
We didn’t know there were specials or that there was a bar menu with food we might’ve wanted because our waiter did not inform us of that but after seeing French fries and burgers being served to other guest we inquired and were told they they were available
Way overrrated I wasn’t impressed with this restaurant and it wasn’t a winery merely a warehouse in an industrial park .
Delicious!!! Service was excellent. Staff was so friendly and helpful
amazing food and service!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First visit ever. Empty (slow season)
One of the best kosher restaurants anywhere- on level as anything in Israel or NYC.
Highly recommend combining with wine tasting at Herzog.
Service was A+. Food is flashy but not great.
Would say food was significantly worse than Le marais/La Gandola
On par with Deli Kasba/ Lieders take out but magnificently dressed up.
Wine was quite good. We sampled 6 wines and had the Chalk Hill (forgot which vintage)
Wouldn’t come here from LA ever again.
The chicken was disappointing. The fish was ok but not what I expected for the price.
Overall was disappointed with the main entree. The escarole salad was very good.
The pumpkin mousse desert was disappointing as well. Last visit we had the chocolate donuts and they were just awful. They tasted like chocolate bagels.
Deserts have been very disappointing
To visit and educate yourself about kosher wine
The kosher food was great
The services was excellent
Reservation time was not honored, even though there were empty tables. Food was excellent.
The restaurant is great. Open table is an issue if you book from the East coast prior to going to the west coast. Open table got confused and my 12 noon reservation became 9 am even though the system only allows you to book within the context of PST. We had to call the restaurant once it opened to clear it up.
Quality of food is excellent! Enjoy the unrushed setting.
We had a lovely meal here. The server was gracious and offered excellent suggestions, the menu was interesting, and the food was delicious. We arrived somewhat late due to terrible traffic, and the staff still honored our reservation. Highly recommended!
The holiday buffets will be a hit with everyone in your party. The gourmet selection of meats, fish, soup, salads, and sides will tempt you to overeat. No matter what happens, do not pass up the desserts. Trust me, there's room! Staff is attentive without hovering. This restaurant also provides the tapas for the tasting room, so deliciousness is available anywhere you decide to sit.
It was an amazing buffet, food was tremendous. Would definitely recommend. My fave is the lamb Wellington.
Soup was cold, steak was good but potatoes were almost raw .
Dessert was almost not edible
Amazing kosher steak
We ordered the charcuterie appetizer. For $72, it was pretty meager. I'm pretty sure that the "veal pate" was spam.
We had a very, very delightful dining experience, and agreed it was the most enjoyable one that we've had in Ventura County. Our server was fantastic, as were all staff, and the wines, appetizers, salads and entrees were super. The desserts were just good.
Best meat ever Love the restaurant Will come back in my next trip
Meat was not cooked according to order, re-order was over sauced, was not a good experience
What an amazing evening. Celebrating our granddaughters 21st Birthday! The food was great. The service was excellent.
We Always have a great time at Tierra Sur. The charcuterie plate was delicious. The 32OZ rib steak easily feeds 3 people. Waiters who actually pay attention to you, what a concept! See you soon and thanks as always. Steve C
we had a marvelous time! the wine tasting is so much fun and the dinner was delicious, elegant and delightful! great place to go with friends for a night out. can't wait to go again!
It was fine. No recognition of the birthday being celebrated.
It was absolutely delicious and Out of this world for my taste buds
Nice quiet place to have a tasty meal in a relaxed atmosphere. We did the self guided tour of the winery, which took 30 minutes, and proceeded to the restaurant.
The food was great, nicely presented. The overall experience was pleasant.
Excellent in every way. The execution is perfect and the selections are unique and creative.
Always great with fresh and innovative recipes that are 5 star. The wine and champagne are very good too.
