Tir Na Nog - Philadelphia
As a recognized supporters bar for Manchester City soccer, made a reservation to enjoy their game with the family. Upon arrival, confirmed that we were there for the game. Unfortunately, they seated us in a room with all of the rugby supporters watching a nations league game on the opposite side of the restaurant from the soccer action. We could see a tv with soccer, but the speakers were blaring commentary for the RUGBY game. WTF?
Fish and chips was more breading than fish. Would have had four drinks if waiter ever bothered to check on us.
I hosted a happy hour at Tir Na Nog because it's a great pub during the winter months (very cozy) and because it's located above the Suburban Station train stop. The guests said that the drink and food prices were very good and that they were happy with how easy it was to stop in before catching a train. Although this is an older Philly bar, I would definitely host another happy hour here in winter.
The garlic parm wings were outstanding as well as the burger. Both my date and I ordered the same items and agreed they were top shelf. We will return again on our next trip to Philadelphia
The main courses were not hot at all
No one greeted us. Appetizer came after food. Fries weren't fresh. Weird ambiance. We felt like we were eating in a lobby or hallway. Next night we went to Con Molloy, and had the opposite experience. Wish we had gone there both nights.
Two stars because the waiter seemed sweet and was trying hard to be nice.
Food was good. Service was strange, aloof, and inattentive.
We went for dinner and the musics was SO LOUD! We couldn’t hear each other at all. It was insane. I was screaming at my mom who was sitting next to me at a 4 person table. We got up and left after the waitress said she’d “ask them to turn it down” and nothing changed. I’m extremely disappointed that it was that loud on a Friday at 6:30. I don’t recommend them at all. Went to City tap and had a much better evening.
Pretty much what I'd expected: comfortable, casual downtown place for a light meal and a beer. I would suggest, however, adding a couple more local craft beers to the list and dropping some of the mass-produced stuff. That would attract a more discerning upscale clientele.
short staffed for a super busy Saturday . Ordered a Turkey BLT and got it with no bacon? My sister ordered a sandwich with sour dough bread-got rye? Odd. Waitress was nice but the poor girl was way too busy needed more help. Food itself was good if they had gotten the order correct
Have been here numerous times with friends and always had a pleasant experience! You get an ample amount of food that is always delicious and the servers have always been pleasant! This particular time was for a pre race meal for the Philly Marathon and my salmon was excellent!
We returned for our traditional post race breakfast the next morning with a large group. It was very busy but the food was again really good and servers were really pleasant despite it being jam packed.
My only minor complaint is that in winter when being seated in the front section near the main door, you get blasted with ice cold air every time someone comes in or out because the outside door sticks open. They really need to put up one of those temporary alcoves outside to block the air better or have people use the other entrance around the corner.
I always reserve business lunches in the atrium space, because it’s one of the most elegant in the city. Tir NA nog makes great salads.
Great place for a quiet business lunch. Food and service were consistently good.
We made a reservation for 9:30 on a Sunday morning. When we arrived, we were the only 2 people there. We couldn't find a hostess, bartender, waitstaff.... no one. So, we walked around the restaurant for a few minutes before someone finally saw us and came out to acknowledge us. We sat at the bar and were given drink menus...the bartender looked like she'd just crawled out of bed, but she got us our drinks and disappeared to chat with other employees who appeared from nowhere. After 10 minutes or so, my husband walked to the unattended hostess station to retrieve a food menu as one was not offered to us by the staff. We debated on leaving, but decided we were too hungry to wait until we found another brunch place. I'll admit the food was good, but it was definitely an interesting experience.
Very popular restaurant and good food and good service
Thank you for the quiet spot for dinner. Bridgett’s service was awesome. Parking availability was a huge plus!
Best fish and chips in town, come hungry though because it is huge!
Thanks to its 20-foot ceiling and columns, the Atrium at Tir NA Nog is one of the most elegant lunchtime meeting venues int city.
Brunch was served on the weekend. Lunch menu wasn’t an option.
We went with a group of 6 prior to seeing a show. Everything was great and would highly reccomend.
Absolutely a great place to eat and see live shows) Ate the NY Strip and thought it better than some other places known for their steaks and only $6more than other dishes on menu.
Had lunch there with two friends. Service was excellent - food good. I would recommend it to a friend
An overall great place. I have been there several times to meet for a working lunch and the high-top tables with mid-profile separators work well for conversation and to open laptops if needed. The food was good and service is always good for the most part. Happy Hour is fun and a great place for live music when they have it. It is just a nice, comfortable place to have a drink and meet up with people.
Great place to go after the Love Run Half Marathon. Food was delicious, everyone in the group was happy and can’t beat those $1 mimosas!
Went there for brunch before the St. Patrick's Day parade and it was fantastic! Food was delicious, service was great and the ambiance was perfect. Will definitely go back!!
Great food! Great staff! Nice decor. Unfortunately, it was very noisy. My phone measured 110 to 115 dB--you had to shout into your neighbor's ear to converse; bring noise canceling headphones.
We love coming to this fun Irish Pub when we attend lectures not far away. The staff is always welcoming with outstanding service and good food. I don't know how they can achieve such quick results given the crowds which are usually young and happy. Just what one hopes for in an Irish bar!

Our visit to Tir Na Nog was very enjoyable. The brunch and regular menus offered many interesting choices. I found the short rib eggs benedict to be very tasty, and the shepherd's pie was rich and flavorful. The staff seemed genuinely happy to welcome us to the restaurant, and our server was friendly and attentive. I will definitely return to Tri Na Nog and highly recommend it as a positive dining experience.
My boyfriend & I had made a reservation two week prior to the Manchester City / Chelsea match this past Sunday. He is a huge City fan, and neither of us had ever been to Tir. We were running about 10-15 mins late for our reservation, so we called and the girl said it was fine. When we got there we walked around the entire place couldn’t find a hostess or anyone to help us. Then finally a girl saw we looked lost and helped us to a table - it was the last table in the entire place in the rugby section secluded in the corner, NOT the City game section. We had to squint the entire game to see what was going on. The service was AWFUL - I would tell you our waiters name but he never said anything to us other than to take our order 20 minutes after we had been sitting there waiting. After we ordered he came back 15 mins later to tell me they were out of what i ordered - this was the icing on the cake! I understand it was a busy time, but we even stayed after the games were over for another drink when even that took another 15-20 minutes to come out. When the waiter dropped the check off he didn’t even say thank you or anything to us. I would really like to come back to this place as the drinks & food were delicious, but the service could have been MUCH better.
Fantastic. Luv the menu. Our waitress, Katherine, was great & very pleasant
Did a happy hour and the food, service and drinks were all great! Thanks to Kate for her help!
The location was perfect for our group of 6 to have lunch after a morning of museum-going and before boarding our train. Beer selection included many popular brands and a few local brews. The food menu was limited to brunch selections on Saturday before 3 PM, but we all were able to find something to our liking. The 3 who had cheesesteaks proclaimed them "very good"; the chicken Caesar salad was huge and satisfying; my shepherd's pie was savory and large enough for leftovers. One of our group said the chicken in her chicken-and-waffles entrée was too spicy for her taste, but overall, our experience was good. The restaurant was not crowded when we were there, so we were able to converse easily. Definitely worth another trip next time we're in the Suburban Station vicinity.
A very pleasant atmosphere for a reasonable brunch in Center City. Conveniently located next to Suburban Station.
Noise level was extremely loud. Was with two other friends & could not talk to them at the same time. Food was very good. Even after happy hour and there were some less people, the noise was deafening!
Will not go back
I went here for Father’s Day brunch with my family and have eaten here a few other times. The food has always been good. They have a decent beer selection and the service has been pretty good. It gets a little crowded during happy hour, but it’s a lot of fun. It’s a good Irish pub and I am sure I will be eating/drinking here again.
Katie our server was wonderful! Weather was perfect for sitting outside
We've dined in a Tir Na Nog in NYC and, based on that experience, tried this one. Other than the very slow service, it's a great place to eat. While in Ireland on an extended vacation a few years ago, we sampled (read ate) "fish and chips" on many occasions. Some were OK; one was terrible; one was out-of-this-world! So was the one we had at Tir Na Nog! The batter was light, the fish was cooked and very moist, the portion size was large, but not huge. The chips were done to perfection and the malt vinegar was excellent. All-in-all, a perfect meal. We asked to sit in a quieter location in the restaurant (the bar area was really hopping!!), and, thus, we were seated somewhat remotely. Perhaps that contributed to the slowness of the service.
Food just wasn’t very good. Service was lack luster and extremely inattentive - understanding that it’s an Irish Pub and probably not the most ambient spot for Mothers Day brunch but still... they struck out.
Food was good. Waitress was helpful and patient. Loud, party atmosphere.
Great food and service, excellent beer selection..will be back again
