Toscano Harvard Square
I went last night with my wife, 21 year old daughter and her boyfriend. Everything was absolutely perfect and deserves 5 stars except one thing(or should I say one person—the hostess/Maitre ‘d. She was unpleasant from the moment I walked in the door (early) and said we were waiting on the other two and could we get a drink at the bar which we did. Before my drinks came and still on time for my reservation she came over to the bar and asked if we hadn’t already ordered drinks could we move on to our table. At that point my guests had arrived and we were simply getting a drink for a toast before moving to the table. Before I could even pay the bartender she started whisking my daughter and boyfriend to the table. My view is that her attitude was her problem and not mine but management needs to address this ASAP to get the consistent 5 stars it absolutely deserves and yes I will go back. Too good to let one bad person spoil it.
The food was delicious. The waiter was wonderful. We were not rushed in any way. I would definitely return to try another dish. The osso buco was wonderful, but there were so many dishes that I wanted to try,
Wonderful food , wine and service !
Hostess was NOT accommodating. Waiter was outstanding ( Peter). Food was very good.
We very much enjoyed our Harvard Square dining experience at Toscano. We love the Caesar salad.
All of our food was wonderfully prepared. Service was excellent nd we can wait to go bac
Always a joy to dine at Toscano. Staff and service are excellent, as is the food. We have some food allergies in our party and they are also very solicitous and accommodating.
Food was very good and the place is beautiful but i called and asked ahead of time to bring out a desert for my girlfriend’s birthday and i waited and waited for it to come and it never did. It was really upsetting for it to not come after being assured that it would be right before we arrived.
I ordered the veal and was not blown away. I was expecting something outstanding. Also I ordered sautéed spinach which did not arrive with the meal but It was quickly rectified. The venue was great. The service was pretty good. I would return yeah.
The wine was amazing and so was the dessert. The pasta wasn’t anything unusual though. Service was very good
Very very noisy
Very pleasant, gracious surroundings--tables spaced well apart unlike many Cambridge restaurants--and excellent wait staff. My luncheon meal, however, was on the ordinary side--perfectly OK and well prepared, but nothing special. I wouldn't hesitate to return again, but more for the ambiance than for the culinary thrill.
Second visit, even better than the first. Food and service wonderful. My only disappointment was that they didn’t have vitello tonnato, typically a summer dish. I know tomorrow will be November, but it was 75 degrees, and they prepare a spectacular vitello tonnato. Thanks for a wonderful evening.
As usual, Toscano delivered an amazing experience! From the attentive service from the waitress (Katie), to the view from the window seat, to the FANTASTIC food....Toscano keeps me coming back, always hungry for more.
Average. Was hoping for more. Pre-sliced Parmesan is a bad sign. Black edges in the arugula, too.
Excellent server, friendly, attentive, informed. Specials of the evening were terrific, particularly anchovies, pappardelle. Wine list by the glass interesting. This place is hopping, and we have found on several visits that it is often too noisy to have a conversation across the table -- the only drawback. Don't go here for an intimate dinner and quiet conversation, but do go for the food.
Had reservations for dinner. Very attentive waiter, who presented himself well. Had a scaloppini dish that was quite tasteful. Overall a nice evening.
Great food and service!
A lovely place to meet friends for lunch. The setting is elegant. The service is attentive. The food is excellence and evocative of European places we each have memories of. A bit noisy for us but then we were four people average age 80 years old. Thanks
I had another great meal Friday, Oct 25th, with good friends. The service by Peter was nothing short of outstanding! We had two great wines and some of the daily specials. My lemon sole was fantastic.
Overall, just a wonderful meal in a terrific place!! Whenever I visit Cambridge, I make it a point to eat at Toscano!
We were seated in a quiet area per my request and it was perfect. The service by Robinson was excellent. The food was very good but could have been better - the veal was rather tough. Overall the food was ok.
I went for a bday dinner.
The food quality was good. I recommend the lobster ravioli special and the risotto was absolutely delicious. *yum in addition, the two tarts were amazing.
Thanks for a good experience!
Great meal and service.
We enjoyed dining at Toscano. The location was great and parking was easy when we visited. We enjoyed the ambience, and our server was fantastic. The food was very good. We would definitely go back.
The service was good, but the food was bland.
Our table of 6 ordered the bruschetta (just tomatoes on bread), eggplant parmigiana app (best food of the night), grilled veggies (okay), minestrone soup (good), two gnocchi (so bland and so soft it was like eating mashed potatoes), salmon (okay), marg pizza (okay), shrimp (good sauce), and mushroom risotto (good).
The food was NOT worth the very expensive bill and it was a disappointing birthday dinner.
Again, service was good and they gave me a complimentary birthday dessert!
Never disappoints! When you're greeted at the valet by Roger you know you're in for a nice evening. His kindness is contagious. Followed by welcomed arms at the host station. The menu has something for everyone. Clean, simply prepared delicious food. Our waiter Peter was a star. We eat at Toscano often and our first time with Peter. He made some great recommendations for both food and wine - not overselling just providing good knowledge and assistance. He was fun and professional without being over bearing. Whether you're at the bar or in the dining room the level of service and quality and presentation of food is consistent.
I completely enjoyed Toscano's and would recommend it.
We were celebrating our anniversary and they gave us a lovely table by the window and a comp dessert which was a very nice touch. We'll be back.
All around good place.
Toscano is a great neighborhood restaurant! The food and service are really
terrific. Thanks to Cassie for making it such a welcoming place!
Horrible server. Rude & opinionated and totally spoiled our experience.
Second time at this fine restaurant. We were seated promptly on time for our reservation and the host and our waiter (Carl, I believe) were very friendly and attentive. Both are meals were excellent and they even surprised us with a complimentary dessert when they found out it was our anniversary. If you are looking at a perfect restaurant in Cambridge look no further!
Great location for an authentic Italian meal before a show.
We thoroughly enjoyed our dinner. Great service, great food, great atmosphere!
A neighborhood favorite, always an enjoyable experience. We are becoming regulars.
place to dine.
Tenderloin was first rate; caprese and tomatoes beautiful; wine options terrific. Server attention appropriate—all offset by the din—it was Saturday evening 8:30pm seating. Consider an early hour or weekday.
Good food, lovely setting on a summer day with the windows open to the street. Out of town guests were very pleased with the food, service and ambience
I liked the atmosphere of this place, the service was really good, and some aspects of the meal were tasty - the drinks, the desserts and some of the mains. The salad and starter we had were not good and the mains were hit or miss. I really wanted to like this place, but the food just wasn't great.
We love Toscano and go frequently. Delicious food, great service and comfortable ambiance. All in all a great experience.
Our server was excellent and attentive; wine list is quite good for the area, although one needs to order carefully to avoid some unusually high markups. Those wines that do not fall victim to the markup are very, very attractively priced.
