True Food Kitchen - San Diego FV
Food and staff were excellent as always. The outside covered patio is perfect for mild and warm days and they are dog friendly. Great place for an upscale lunch date and/or specialty cocktail with your meal.
Our server was great - the food was interesting, seemed healthy and well-prepared.
Who knew a Cobb salad could be this good. My partner reports that his pizza was excellent.
Ash was a great waitress but another girl we asked for help was very rude , sighed, and rollers her eyes twice she clocked out around 1:15pm on 06/09/2019 so I didn’t catch her name but I’m sure management can see that.
Early Father’s Day brunch.
At first we were hesitant to go to a restaurant in a shopping mall but we were really impressed. We arrived on time for our 6:30 on a Saturday night reservation and actually found free parking. I believe if you get there later on you'd have to pay $5? We were seated right away and our server, Brittany, was perfect. She was friendly, helpful and attentive. We had a few appetizers and a few entrees and were happy with them all. Great experience.
Service is definitely a miss at this place. It’s such a shame because the food is good but when you have a server who purposefully ignores your table to refill water or clear your dishes and provide the check, it ruins the overall experience. After we ate, our empty plates and glasses sat on our table for 15 minutes and our server passed us 3 times—always ignoring us but catering to the table on the left and right side of us. She never offered a dessert menu which was a bit of a bummer. We literally had to raise our hands to get her attention and ask for the check.
I’m not going to pull the race card but observing who our server was paying more attention to was very unfortunate. (You just wouldn’t think that ignorance still existed in San Diego...) It was a very disheartening to have experienced this at a restaurant whose food we’ve always appreciated. There are plenty of other places in San Diego that offer gluten free, vegan, or healthy entrees with servers who are genuine and attentive.
Great food, engaging, knowledgable servers and were gracious in accommodating our schedule.
Good food. Good service. Nice outdoor area. But the music is too loud so interferes with conversation Good value for the portion sizes. Overall nice experience except noise level.
It was great, always a good spot
Get place with great food.
I love my kale w/salmon salad and True Food, you make it better than any restaurant around.
We came here to celebrate my son’s college graduation. We had a great experience. Food was delicious and fresh. Drinks were awesome too. Service was exceptional! Highly recommend this place!
Although the plates are a bit on the pricey side, our food was fresh, unique and delicious. The team work of the waiters and waitresses and cleanliness of the restaurant was an A+.
I love the ancient grain bowl here. I am never disappointed. My husband also loves the grass fed beef burger. This is one of our go to spots for dinner when we have the opportunity to go out with out daughters.
Amazing food, always fresh!
Our experience was totally positive. We had been given a gift certificate and plan to return again
True food service is a hit or miss, some servers are great and some aren’t. This time we got someone that wasn’t so attentive. I asked for water with lemon she brought water that is Luke warm and no lemons, I asked for three straws, she forgot about it till I called her and reminded her again. she seemed to be in a rush and we noticed that she was more attentive to the other tables. We ordered an appetizer, she came after 20 minutes and told us that our main course is on its way, and that she was going to bring us some chips for our guacamole, we waited for about 15 minutes for the chips. Our main course took more than half an hour, when I got mine there was a piece of hair on my plate so I sent it back. I had to wait another 10 minutes for my meal. Although they did take it off my bill, which was nice. My point is, true food isn’t cheap, so why is the service not consistently great? I can get a better service at chic fil let. It’s really disappointing when you end up with a server that doesn’t know what the tru meaning of excellent service is. We are never going back.
Very friendly attentive waiter. Excellent chicken wrap.
Great place for small or large groups, food is the focus but service was fantastic as well.
prices are very steep for the amount and kind of food, although is very good and well prepared, there are other types of restaurants with this kind of food for half the price, same quality but better served plates; watch out..! competition is fierce in the restaurant industry.
Mother’s Day brunch expected to be different other than the regular menu we always have!! I suggested having specials just for that day to wow us with it and I can call it a true great brunch! My polenta was watery and not creamy and yummy, I love polenta I was really excited to give it a try, but did not meet my expectations! My company liked their good so that’s a plus!
Highly recommend making a reservation for big parties and special days/holidays.
The host had a smile on her face and was very welcoming. The check-in process was easy and we waited less than 5 minutes for our table.
Becca was a wonderful waitress and provided all the answers to our questions regarding the menu.
The prices were a bit high but the food was delicious.
Great experience for my first time. I would definitely come back for a date night or any other night.
We came here to celebrate Mother's Day. We had a reservation and were seated quickly. We had a table outside which was quieter than inside at the hostess's recommendation. Nice umbrellas for shade. I had the cascara cold brew and inside out quinoa burger, it was delicious.
I proposed to my lovely now fiance a few hours ago and took her and two of her close friends to true kitchen. One of her girlfriends is completely vegan and was filled with joy with all the options for her. I loved all the options for myself. The burger was amazing. Never had beef like that before. It was a perfect night and did not mind the price I spent on food. It was well worth the experience. 5/5
Very friendly and thoughtful staff and nice decor. It wasn’t too busy and we had a lovely time.
Two words: SO GOOD! Seriously, one of the best restaurants I've been to in awhile and there are a ton of amazing eats in San Diego! So happy to have found it and will be a regular customer for sure!
Our waitress was attentive and helpful in answering our menu questions-we received excellent service. We enjoyed being able to eat outdoors,as it was much quieter and we could carry on a conversation with the rest of our group.. The food was very good, it was fresh and plentiful. I look forward to coming back and bringing new friends.
Amazing as always. Went for lunch AND for dinner while in town for a conference. Outside was warm and cosy while it was wet and chilly outside.
Food was really good. The menu offers several excellent selections that are dairy-free, gluten-free, and vegetarian. And the options were not just salads! Great place for a weekday lunch with a group.
Really good food, nice ambience, and nice wine list!
Redfish was absolutely delicious and plentiful! Great Cab wine good food what more could you ask for
We love True Food Kitchen. They offer a creative menu with delicious dishes that are a treat for anyone with food allergies. Their seasonal variations are really nice too and we tried the key lime mousse, spring menu dessert, which was amazing!
Best food around, always cooked perfectly. Wait staff is the best. If u want healthy good food. This is the place!!!!
Great place with everything going for it. Love being able to take my dog as there is so much outdoor seating. They also let you split an order on many items so I had half a cauliflower polenta and half chicken wrap (which was delicious). Service was very good. Oh - the ginger flavored sparkling drink was great!
The good is incredible and the service is fantastic.
Their roasted cauliflower and hummus appetizers are a must have. Our table ordered lasagna that was a little too salty, but we still ate it. My sister’s coworker ordered a Korean noodle salad that was extremely salty! Our waitress was understanding and took it off the check. Our waitress was great with our large group. She checked in occasionally, and the food was out in good time.
Seated promptly after arriving, our server Amy was friendly, very professional, knowledgeable about the menu, and made us feel like we want to return.
