Very good food. But please notice the language mistakes on the menu.
do love it！！！
Went there for my Daughter's Birthday, great time, great food!
First time at Umu and we had a great experience.
Pros: great food, chef’s attention to detail is bar none and really friendly and knowledgeable waitstaff
Con: hostess needs to work on her communication skills
Is AMAZING that dining at a Michelin star restaurant without normal air conditioning!!
Every time we look at the managers they walk away to somewhere else. Even if we don’t asked don’t offer ice cubes. And of course nothing compensate!
Actually the thin slice seasonal sashimi, aren’t as thin as before. Quite disappointed this time for 3 people (just 1 wine paring)GBP700 with such environment.
I enjoyed a lot dining in this restaurant. Food here is a superb experience. Every dish is made with attention to detail. Flavor is increidbly good. I sure would come back again
Ovrpriced, not up to a Michelin starred restaurant. Just a common kind of food.
Good service and ambiance, but thats all.
Fantastic Japanese food. Great staff and a lovely setting
So very overpriced and so very average don’t go here you will not be impressed.
Authentic and innovative at the same time. Well worth another visit to try the ten course tasting menu.
I had a chance to enjoy their Spring Kaiseki menu. Exceeded my expectations. Food, service, ambience, evertying was perfect - Fresh and delicious food with wonderful presentation, attentive service, cozy and authentic environment. I experienced Omakase meals at other high-end Japanese restaurants during my visit to London, this was the best of all. Will definitely be back.
We have been looking for somewhere like Umu for quite sometime.
Everything great, nice combination of classic fine nigiri with a very “modern fine nigiri art”...
Chefs are amazing and service perfect !
Great for foodies! Even better than what I have in Japan! Highly recommend the tasting menu.
I absolutely love this place and try to come back whenever I’m in London. The food is very very good and the service impeccable!
Excellent sashimi bento box for lunch
Fantastic lunch, had a number of sushis and other dishes including the soup and two of the starters. Welcoming staff, quiet and peaceful atmosphere. I would definitely visit umu again.
Had the Kaiseki menu with sake pairing
6 out of 9 are the perfect match to the food which is very impressive
The portions are nicely controlled but personally I did not feel full after the meal
Services had been spectacular until we finished food, where we have to keep asking for water
The Wagyu is very good, just that there had been 2 small ligaments that the chef did not remove had affected the smooth texture of the beef
It is quite an expensive meal but the experience and quality had been very good
Sushi umu style was nice, the starters were completely useless and overpriced, tempura awful. And eel very good. I am not going back though because £500 for two people drinking a very normal bottle of wine it’s too much compared to what you get.
plus many dishes on menu were not available like crab or uni sashimi, and service very average Bottom line if I have to pay that kind of money everything must be perfect.
Simply the best Japanese meal I’ve ever had. Thank you to every member of the team at Umu! I will certainly be back.
Referencia en cocina japonesa en la ciudad, elegante y muy cuidada.
Longlong chef recommends for nice one and she just so kind and welcome
Very overpriced sushi, and the menu is very very short. The service is great, though. Tables are too close one to another.
We had an amazing experience at UMU . The service was outstanding and the food was like nothing we had before quality wise.
Food was a let down unfortunately, and the staff seemed lazy and didn’t want to explain the courses. The sommelier rolling his eyes when asking for an alternative also was a highlight.
If you want to spend this amount of money on Japanese star rated cuisine just go to The Araki.
The food was just ok while the price was not even worth the food that was served for Valentine’s Day. There are better places which food are extremely better and price is worth it.
The food was well executed but the overall experience was not as expected. We were not aware until we arrived that it was a set menu. We don't eat beef and so this was changed for a fish djsh. However we were charged the same for this as we would have been charged for wagyu beef and truffle. Eventually a nominal amount was removed from the bill. Disappointing
The best NEW Japanese in London we ever have! Must try!!
Outstanding food, attentive service and a restaurant that remembers its clients. Expensive, but worth it.
Amazing food, excellent service. Not cheap but worth every penny.
Outstanding food! If you want food at the very highest level then this is the place. Extremely well cooked. Just on another level. Expensive but top food comes with a price. Really well done to the staff and chefs. Excellent restaurant which I recommend highly. FIVE STARS!!!!!!!
Go for their Kaiseki menu only, don't do sushi it's not the speciality here
The vegetarian menu was quite repetitive with 4 consecutive dishes with the same vegetables cooked in slightly different ways, with a lack of focus on any one particular vegetable or technique, so doesn’t really stand up to a measure of tasting menu. Service was as nothing special. A poor experience by any standard let alone for a Michelin starred restaurant
Beautiful place with amazing friendly staff. Food was decent, although I was expecting a little more. Nevertheless, I had a really enjoyable night. We went for the Winter Kaiseki Menu, love the prawn and monkfish, and the dessert was amazing.
We travelled all the way from Scandinavia to try out this restaurant.
Was welcomed in a nice way and felt great hospitality and kindness - but nothing outstanding. Definitely not taking into consideration that restaurant was more or less empty, when we arrived.
We ordered the lunch-menu. We got some great tastes, but having visited Japan several times, I must admit, that UMU was just on level, with average lunch-restaurants in Tokyo or Kyoto.
The reason we came to London was to get an extraordinary food experience. We didn't get that! At the end of the day, our most memorable experience was the tea (for which we paid an additional sum of pricey 50£). Not okay. And no Michelin stars worthy.
Maybe if we had ordered the full menu. Maybe if we had been there another day? We don't know.
For the price everything was quite underwhelming, overall it was pleasant but for a similar cost you could experience something that would have created a far more memorable time.
