I realize these are challenging time with corona. The menu is very limited. Husband liked his chicken sandwich but very few items on the menu without garlic. I HATE garlic. Not even a drop. So I got a salad with olive oil. The salad, to me, tasted icky,, Like an old Lady. Was it the cilantro in it? Idk. Ate half anyway bc I was hungry. But the atmosphere is just beautiful, we sat outside. I’d always wanted to check this place out and while the restaurant and setting was lovely, staff was very sweet and helpful, I wasn’t a fan of the food but I’m a picky eater and as mentioned husband lined his dinner.
We wanted to take a bike ride in the park but needed a great place to stop, eat lunch and use the facilities. Valley Green Inn as perfect. We sat comfortably outside, under an awning, and far enough away from other dinners. I had fish cakes which were ample and perfectly prepared. My partner has a wedge salad with chicken which he loved. We were seated promptly. Our server was friendly. This was a super way for us to get in a bike ride in a stunning setting during the pandemic. (We ride with our masks on!)
Great evening in a green environment.
Food was great, view from the front porch eating outside was wonderful, great for people and animal watching. Would definitely dine there again.
Good food, good service. Was able to maintain distance.
I loved the atmosphere and scenic location - and the food was just perfect! It's so nice to have a restaurant to visit that has ample tables at a distance where we can all feel safe. I can see why this place is such a draw for weddings and events - they have an amazing location for outdoor dining and events. We will be back for Sunday brunch!
It is a pleasure to dine at this quaint country inn tucked away in the Wissahicon Valley, but just minutes away from bustling Chesnut Hill and Germantown. The food was wonderful and our waiter was prompt and couteous. We first dined here 48 years ago, and it is comforting to know some things never change. The inn and its menu have a delightful rustic quality unmatched by any other restaurant in the Philadelphia area.
Sean, our server and apparently everyone’s, was excellent. The young woman helping him was as well and he praised her to us, more than once. « Teamwork makes the dream work » and everyone out front, as well as those buying, preparing, and plating the food provided us with an excellent dining experience on the porch of an aesthetically pleasing historic Inn.
Excellent restaurant, totally recommended. Great combination of delicious food, great staff and ambience
Great restaurant with old fashioned values for serving and quality.
The atmosphere is absolutely stunning and although I went with my three friends it is a great romantic location.
Great place and location. The food and service was a 5 Star rating.
Had a lovely outside table. Service from Irene was fabulous. She suggested the eggplant special and it didn’t disappoint. We’ll be back soon.
Can't beat the scenery here; the dog friendly patio overlooks Forbidden drive and the Wissahickon creek. Food is simple but delicious. Would recommend the hummus.
Had a great Time at Valley Green and will be returning! Food was great for lunch but very no-frills, sandwiches, steaks, salads, etc. The ambience outside was great and we felt safe social distancing. We did go on a Sunday and expected there to be a brunch that we saw on the website however it was not served that day. I would recommend calling ahead to get confirmation if you are super excited for brunch
This was perfect for the pandemic dining experience. Sat outside on their lovely front porch and felt very comfortable. Even in the summertime that porch feels like it gets good circulation and it was a pleasant temperature
Another wonderful experience at one of our favorites restaurants in the city. Thank you!
Took my mother here for her 92nd birthday. Having grown up in nearby Roxborough it was the perfect place for her to reminisce about coming here as a child. It was a delightful summer afternoon on the porch and the food was plentiful and very good. Service was attentive. Would like to come again.
The atmosphere is beautiful even on a rainy day. The food and service was very good!
Perfect and beautiful, every time
We have been going to Valley Green for several weeks. The food has been constantly good as has the service. The only issue is the mosquito's, you should wear insect repellent if you are someone that gets bitten.
Daughters birthday. But they took off the Mac and cheese that we went there for. It’s her favorite. So little disappointed. Food was ok
We had a great lunch and the seating outside was very nice. The table was clean and the service was great. Our server was awesome!
It was a beautiful experience, the food, waiter and price of our meal! 10/10
We were there for my daughter's birthday, our first time eating out since covid started. Everything was wonderful! Loved the BBQ'd salmon and truffle fries.
Excellent muscles, service and ambiance! Rain or shine dining outdoors.
Beautiful in every way. Wide open breezy porch very comfortable even during these crazy times of pandemic and soaring heat. This was my first lunch out in the past 5 months. The food and service were EXCEPTIONAL! I must say I was pleasantly surprised at the outstanding quality of every course. Bravo, chef! And team. A wonderful way to celebrate a birthday of a dear friend.
We go every year for our anniversary since we got married there.
Was a busy night along the Wissahickon Trail so hard to give the restaurant an accurate review. Attentive servers who were every viligent about infection control measures.
Great spot! Hot summer day for outdoor dining but not much you can do about that. Hope to go again
We walked half an hour through the park to the restaurant and then back to our car. This is the nicest part of eating at Valley Green Inn. The food is unremarkable.
I would have preferred seating farther apart.
Renee our server was very accomodating! The food was fresh and scenery well... just go try iy
The Valley Green Inn is so underrated and Not sure why. It is a historical restaurant nestled in Fairmount Park and one can feel the richness of the history upon entering. Our dinner was delicious with a very good presentation. Our waiter was more than attentive even to the point of moving our table to be away from a rather noisy one . If you have never been there try it - I doubt you will be disappointed. If you haven’t been there for awhile - give it a second look- we did and were pleasantly surprised!
It was a rainy night and the little dining room was cozy with a fire in the fireplace. Waiter was jolly and the Dodd delicious. Enjoyed the old inn!
The historical atmosphere and the beautiful setting make this spot always a wonderful treasure, sort of like taking a vacation without driving hours away. We found that our first courses were superb. The ginger carrot soup deserves a special mention. The dinner entree's were tasty but did not seem to match the level of expertise we experienced with the first course.
It was a very quiet night so comments about sound levels, good service, etc. need to be considered in that light. Regarding ambience, it is a great pity that the fire has gone and generally the restaurant layout is a bit haphazard. It was also prix fixe night, which provided a lot of hearty food at a very reasonable price. I would always recommend the Inn because of the location. But you should expect a good, not a great, dining experience when you get there.
Beautiful location, rustic surroundings, good food.
Bacon wrapped meatloaf! Chocolate cake to die for. Call for directions before going.
Great ambiance, great food, love this place
