Always great service attentive and great fish selection

The food is delicious from burgers to seafood or pasta...waitstaff is courteous and right there if you need anything..would highly recommend..

Normally I love going to Varka, I love the pork chop and kuomoto oysters. The food is usually phenomenal. When I went this time they had neither the pork chop nor the oysters! Also at the end, the waiter added 2 bottles of sparkling water to the bill when we never ordered those- this was later cleared up but not until after we paid. Although I love Varka normally, this was the one experience that wasn't great for me.

Birthday dinner was amazing

Everything was going well until I got the bill and I noticed that there was appro. $15 surcharge for using a credit card. It’s the not the money it’s the principle. Did you really expect me to carry about $600.00 in cash to cover my dinner. Anyone who starts a business knows that these fees should be built into the the price of the food and drinks just like any other cost of doing business. Adding it on separately like this just tells me that you’re trying to squeeze every last cent from your customer... Smart businessman would pay to get regular business. You on the other hand got $15 in exchange of a regular customer.

Loved the service and food. Very good cleaning and disinfecting protocols in place.

varka seems to have a strong reputation as an upscale greek restaurant but i've had better food at local, casual greek spots like the one in hasbrouck heights. the saganaki was nothing special and the lobster gyro seemed to have a single piece of (battered?) lobster in the midst of a lot of lettuce, yogurt sauce and albeit tasty, the cucumber tomato relish dominated the dish.

This is my second visit to Varka, the last time being almost 10 years ago. Delicious Greek food. Go for the seafood, the grilled octopus is amazing. During COVID the ambience is not as lively, but the staff is quite helpful and very attentive.

As usual, we were thoroughly pleased with Varka. Food was outstanding and customer service was terrific! Pretty perfect.

Well not a place for an inexpensive meal however the quality of the food and the service are wonderful. It is my wife and my go to place when we want a high end restaurant experience.

We love Varka! Fish chowder was exceptional. Alan (Allan, Allen?) our waiter was terrific. He has waited on us before and is excellent. Food is “delish”. Staff very pleasant.

The bronzini was delicious and the gigantes were especially delectable. The octopus was nicely charred and tender.

The food at Varka is incredible. The service is also excellent. They have done a great job with outdoor dining, with a very large, high ceiling tent and plenty of ventilation.

Great food and service but indoor dining is loud and noisy making table conversation difficult,if not impossible.Outdoor seating is where you want to be.Nevertheless, food is consistently excellent.

Great food, great service. Outdoor dining in a 2 big Tents a huge plus. This is our first place to go for special occasions.

Food is fine although pricy. The servers are very rude. Suppose to be an enjoyable evening but waiters suchjohnny are rude. As soon as we sat down, he told us you only have two hours to dine. The wecoming staff sits us on a spot where the direct sunlight is on our eyes. We asked to be sitted somewhere else and she said its full although many tables are empty bec we came in early. These are anong other things that nafw our evening not pleasurable. Bus boys are fine.

Forgot we were outdoors. Nicely done, Varka! Food came hot. Service just right-no hovering or ignoring.

Excellent Food- Service was a bit disappointing. Waited long time when asked for water refill.

It was great to be back at this restaurant. The outdoor seating is comfortable, and good ventilation made us feel safe and secure.

We dined with friends to celebrate our birthdays and had all eagerly anticipated our meal. Varka did not disappoint. The outdoor seating was spacious and comfortable. We were promptly greeted and ushered to our table. Our food and drink was served timely without being rushed. Everything was visually appealing and delicious. Looking forward to our next visit.

Came for a birthday dinner. Server was great, cocktails were great, the food has been better. We used to love Varka but the quality of the food seems to have decreased. The scallops and halibut were both very over cooked, and the chips appetizer seemed old and did not have the fresh crispy texture it used to. The cheesecake however was delicious as always. Will most likely wait a while before returning as most restaurants seem to be short staffed due to the worlds current situation so would want to give them the benefit of the doubt.

Food is always great at Varka. The service, however, was seriously lacking this time. It was a Monday evening and not busy at all, yet we always had to look for our waiter. Dirty plates sat in front of us for far too long.

An off night, for sure.

Another great meal at Varka. They've successfully converted their summer dining patio to accomodate 3 season outdoor dining (would even work in winter if NJ would reverse it's arbitrary rule banning propane space heaters used safely elsewhere for over 40 years!) The lunch menu is a good value with excellent selection and fair portions for a midday meal. Keep up the good work!

Outdoor dining under the tent was lovely. My daughter had the Arctic char and it came with two very large and delicious pieces of fish. I had the loop de Mer and it was glorious, as usual. My husband had the pompano and was not disappointed. And of course the Varka chips are always a treat. Service was great and the atmosphere was very nice. Chandeliers in the tents really made for a nice ambiance.

As usual, appetizers were great and large portions. But surf and turf special was terrible - there was crab in the baked potato (not mentioned), the filet was fatty and the shrimp was overcooked and hard. Really not good. And after the second glass of water, we did not see the water pitcher again the whole night. Outdoor tent with chandelier was lovely.
