It was warm and cosy, relaxing environment. Food was fantastic
Lovely. Good food clean and polite staff. A lovely lunch thank you.
Great atmosphere. Slightly drafty where we were seated between two areas. Food was great but limited choice of size of steaks. Staff very professional and friendly.
My wife and I dined on two evenings the meal was an absolute delight on each occasion .I will be booking next time I visit Bournemouth
High End dining at reasonable cost. The menu was varied and interesting. We all enjoyed our food. The wine was also very good.
Service was excellent - attentive but we never felt rushed.
The decor was art deco and there was a nice buzz about the restaurant. People around us were having afternoon tea with champagne as we left and that also looked excellent. Might try that next time.
There was somewhere to hang our coats - most important for a long relaxed lunch.
Would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant to friends.
We were celebrating a birthday with some friends.
It is the most beautiful Art Deco Hotel.
The food was delicious and the service was very professional. Nothing left to chance, the waiters kept an eye out and served us well.
We have been to the Cumberland Hotel before, but think this meal was the best ever.
As we live in Bournemouth we shall certainly be eating here again soon.
Wonderful food and excellent service from bar to table. Most relaxing .Thank you.
Fantastic meal a bit pricy but for a birthday celebration well worth it. We have been many times for birthdays and anniversary celebrations and the food is always outstanding and the staff very friendly special thanks to Annabel who made the day special
Lovely surroundings and being set within an Art Deco Hotel makes it all the better.
The service was first class as was the food.
We went on a Thursday evening and benefited from a special offer which made it very good value but would return again without this offer.
We splashed out on a wine further up the price list with the money we saved and the wine was lovely.
The vegetarian options were very limited which would be only criticism but my wife enjoyed the hummus for a starter
Stay regularly at a hotel up the road and thought we’d try this restaurant due to excellent trip advisor reviews. We were not disappointed, on a wet, cold November evening we were greeted warmly to a welcoming , comfortable restaurant with a joyful nod to the upcoming Christmas period. The food was tasty, well presented and the menu choice was excellent. Both my husband and have agreed on our next visit to Bournemouth this hotel will be our first choice. The staff were truly exceptional, unfortunately we can’t recall the name of our waitress, but she was outstanding!
The atmosphere and decor were lovely, the staff slick and professional and the food excellent!
Delicious food, lovely attentive staff, cannot fault the afternoon tea, definitely recommended. In fact have already recommended to friends and family, we'll be back.
Excellent food! The lounge chairs were comfortable for conversation, although on the low side for eating. We had ample opportunity to make the most of this, as our food was a long time coming. This was probably because I had ordered a complex dish, pork cooked three ways; several other groups were served more quickly while we were chatting. When it came, the dish was very much worth waiting for: full of strong flavours and rich textures, including unusual and delicious vegetables. Even without a lot of carbs, the dish was very satisfying indeed. I cleared my plate, and what's more my wife did too, which is more unusual! (She had the chicken breast with citrus salad, see photo.) Manon and her team were very attentive. The cafe offers various discounts and we had not placed our order in the optimal way, but they were flexible enough to give us appropriate value on the final bill. I hope to return soon for another family occasion.
We booked for 3,but they had 2 written down no big deal though. Parking was a nightmare but just squeezed in. The food was really nice and we got the two mains for one deal. The lamb dish was very nice. Dessert was lovely as well. The setting and decor was lovely and relaxing. One waitress was lovely the other was a little bit miserable she didn’t seem to want to be there. Other than that a really nice place and would go again.
We do like this place. Great location and professional service. Food is good but the one disappointment is the portions. Just need to be a bit bigger.
Excellent food. Service professional and courteous. Great atmosphere.
We'd eaten here before, and been impressed, but this time I was less convinced. The room is large and spacious, with typical hotel decor and a large seating area outside, which would be lovely in high summer.
The crispy duck with cress and beanshoots starter was good, but the salmon fishcakewas a disappointment. The flavour was fine, but there was no crunch to the coating and it was swimming in a so-so spinach and sorrel sauce.
For mains we had the pork three ways which, other than the parsnip puree, was a hit. The fish and chips were also good, and a finer dish than the name suggests. But the lemon ricotta and asparagus risotto was a let down. I was slightly concern the lemon might overpower the dish — but there was no fear of that, there was so little it was almost non-existant. The asparagus was equally sparse, if it hadn't been for the odd identifiable piece you would not have known it was there — either at the time of eating, or afterwards (if you know what I mean.) The texture was odd, more ricotta than risotto, and overall although the flavours were reasonably appetising they did not live up to the description on the menu.
The side salad we ordered came with dressing on the side, but as this consisted of a thick vinegar topped with an insipid looking oil which was impossible to mix in the small serving dish we were forced to decant some onto a plate so we could mix and pour it over the salad. The small bowl the salad was served in was stylish, but did not lend itself to tossing the leaves to dress them.
We passed on puddings, so can't comment.
The staff were attentive, without hovering and the wine list provided a reasonable selection by the glass.
Perhaps the chef was having an off day, or maybe we just made some poor choices, but overall it was OK rather than excellent
When I booked I was asked if it was special occasion I said Birthday, it also asked any special requests again i asked for window table. When we arrived nothing was mentioned about either comment so I feel it is a waste of time asking these questions. The staff were not rude but feel they need training in people skills as there was no interaction at all with the customer
The food was very average. We will not be returning which is a shame as the Hotel is very well decorated and furnished and in a fabulous position .
The Ventana is always a pleasurable experience with excellent food and excellent service.
Arrived and restaurant had no record of our booking so I showed them the confirmation email and they seated us. But, the people with us did not like the menu choices or prices so we left without ordering.
An excellent, very comfortable dining experience with very good service. Perfect on a rainy day!
I had booked an afternoon tea in advance online and also called the hotel to confirm. So I was not happy when we arrived in the restaurant to be told that they weren’t sure if we were having dinner or afternoon tea! We waited quite a long time for our food, almost half an hour, so not happy with the service. We both had different pots of tea which had been labelled incorrectly. We could not fault the food as it was delicious and plentiful.
There was not much ambiance as there was nobody else around us.
Offer you posted on this site Not available July - Sept ! ! However the meal we chose was very good.
The food was overall good but Yorkshire pudding was stone cold and hard.lamb was slightly over too. otherwise a great meal
Good service and beautiful dining room. Lovely place to eat.
Service very good and efficient.
Food good.
A suggestion would be to vary the menu and perhaps not have as much choice.
A good evening had by all four of us.
Sadly after many visits this was our last. Poor service. It took so long to get our food to us and they tried to say it was because it was so busy. The
restaurant wasnt even half full!
Great lunch. I'd not been for a couple of years. It didn't disappoint. We really enjoyed it!
Nice restaurant, gorgeous oysters and food. Staff were very good .
This is out favourite restaurant ever , the food is outstanding with and excellent choice. The service is always excellent with a great atmosphere
Well what can I say. The staff the food were fantastic will be back when I visited Bournemouth again. Xxx
Good deal on the menu with an unadvertised two for one on mains from Sunday evening until end of Friday lunch at 2pm. We both had duck which was exquisite. Could have come with slightly more vegetables but still good as was.
Very disappointed with food and service, previously was really good.
The service was very slow and staff didn't seem to know what they were doing, busy talking to each other so hard to attract attention.
The food was also disappointing, my scallops were small and luke warm and my pork very dry and not enjoyable, my husband enjoyed his oysters and trio of fish but even that had shrunk in size since last visit.
When we arrived there was nice background music playing but even that stopped halfway through and never started up again.
Such a shame, we have always enjoyed our previous visits to Ventana.
Great food and lovely service. Great location and free parking for restaurant users.
Excellent food, Wonderful staff, fantastic art deco restaurant!!
Came here with my girlfriend over the Easter weekend . Good menu, friendly and attentive staff.
Food good as well as wine . Could not fault
Good food in lovely surrounds food excellent the only small problem was the noise and movement from the party going
We dined before the Elvis theme night and arrived early. We were quickly shown to our table and our drinks order was taken quickly, although there was some small delay in the arrival of our drinks. Our waitress was friendly and helpful. The food was excellent.
Food was excellent quality and value for money. Beautiful surroundings. Staff were friendly and very professional. I took my Mum for a birthday lunch and she loved it. We saw the cream teas and afternoon teas come out which looked amazing. Definitely will return. My parents are looking to go to one of their show evenings.
Excellent food, presentation and service. Cannot be faulted.
Interesting menu.
