We felt the sides were some what lacking. The prime rib was very delicious.

The staff and service was excellent. Restaurant is located in an open air space so noise is a factor. Don't recommend for intimate setting. Food was only average compared to other higher end hotels. Charge was$27. for lunch buffet. Salad and dessert selection ok. Entrees need work. Little flavor/ taste despite several selection.

The size and offerings at the buffet have decreased. The quality of the food is still very high, but not worth the price if you have children with you.

I made a lunch reservation, only to be pointed towards a buffet. I did not realize this place is buffet only, and an expensive one with sub-par food. Waitress was nice, but the place was very understaffed too. Sorry, I expected more.

Nice presentation overall. We arrived at noon and found approximately 1/3 of the tables to be occupied. The food layout was generally good (looked and tasted good) but they were slow to service (replenish) the dishes. I found this to be a surprise because it wasn't overly busy and therefore I would have expected the buffet coverings to be more closely monitored. The roast beef was notably delicious and omelettes to order very good. The dessert table had an abundant offering of small parfaits that were tasty. Table service was good.
The food was great, the Chef and the Manager made you feel at home.

The service was not adequate for a restaurant in the price range. The bottle of wine we ordered did not come until well after we started our meal and only after reminding the waiter. We ordered the buffet and used plates were never removed from the table until after paying our bill. Also, the food variety ad quality of the buffet was not what we expected for the cost.
Horrible service. Had reservations, but still took over 30 minutes to get seated. Waitress was overwhelmed. Buffet was fine, but definitely not worth the money or the wait. I honestly never leave reviews, but had to on this one.
We chose the buffet because the a la carte menu at Versailles was VERY limited. Buffet food was ok but not equivalent to the price. When returning in the future, probably will try one of the other restaurants at Elan. I do have to comment that the recent renovations to the atrium is gorgeous.

Since our last visit, which was prior to the remodeling, Versailles seems to have lost interest in serving customers. The food assortment on the buffet was lacking - fewer options including deserts and sides. The seating was set up so that I felt I was dining with my neighbors as opposed to having a romantic anniversary dinner. Also our server paid very little attention to our table (any tables in our area actually) and let plates stack up on our very small table. I was extremely disappointed - it was not worth the $100+ we paid for what should have been a romantic dinner. And yes, they were aware it was our anniversary but that clearly means nothing to them.

Buffer was improved from visit last week
I absolutely loved the ambiance and the service at Versailles. This was my first visit and I was a bit underwhelmed at the food choices for such a beautiful place. The food was pricey for what was received. Im not sure if it's always like this but I was a bit disappointed because I was looking for gourmet food since the prices were gourmet. I ate dinner and breakfast there and had the same experience. I would be open to trying it again in hopes of improvement.
The new weekend buffet is a disappointment.
We went to Versailles for a New Years Eve dinner. The menu was a flat $85 per person and we assumed for that we would be offered quality cuts of meat such as lobster or prime rib. Instead there was trout and beef tips--very low quality and not prepared well. We were extremely disappointed and will not be back.
It’s used to be one of our favorite places to take guests to have great dinner after wine tasting. But no more after our recent visit. Will not go back.
Menu was completely changed for the worst dinner buffet ever. No more crab legs or any seafood at all, no display of breads and cheeses, no fruits. I mean everything there was awful except for the decoration. I was so embarrassed after bragging about this place to our out of town guests and then when we got there, we realized the buffet was not worth $10.00 per person. We paid almost $900 for 14 people. The buffet dinner menu on the website is misleading. There was no chilled seafood ice display, no meat and cheese display, no southern crawfish boil. Whatever they had there was just bad. Hostess was unfriendly. Only had 2 servers. They were nice and it’s difficult to communicate with one of them. They need to improve their food selections and their service to bring customers back.
Was very disappointed to arrive in the “conference room” replacement from the normal and beautifully redesigned main room. No explanation was given, just signage pointing us to a drab, crowded replacement room. We came primarily for the beautiful experience and immediately knew we had made a mistake. There was about half of the normal choices for food on the amended buffet, and our server was inattentive and had to be reminded multiple times for refills or drinks and lemons for the tea. I paid the same price as I usually do for none of the normal ambience and half of the food. We have been patrons of Versailles for years. You owe it to your guests to cut the costs when you are only offering a drastically inferior experience.
The experience was not good. I drove 1 hour in the rain in hopes of showing my friend an awesome dining experience. I did not know about the renovations and how they would impact the ambiance of NOT dining in the Versaille. The food options were poorly displayed with few choices. I was embarrassed because I bragged about Chateau Elan often, with heavy emphasis on dining in the Versaille. If you must do renovations, close completely unless you have an equal option. What was available was truly a downgrade and not worth $30+. What happened?
They called to confirm our reservation but failed to mention the new dining room that was scheduled to be opened by the time we dined with them had been delayed in opening. We only found out when we arrived and got pointed towards an old partitioned room for dinner
The brunch didnt start till noon.....Wouldn't you call that lunch? I ended up paying $60 for scrambled eggs, burn bacon, and greasy sausage. They didn't even have ham for the omelete...Very disappointed, to say the least.
We first went to the restaurant on Wednesday and had such a great experience that we couldn’t wait to return on Sunday. Well the food was all good but a few things we’re disappointing. First point the closest parking lot was all roped off for valet parking. Not a major issue but seemed to far exceed their needs. So we parked a little further out and walked in. I’m not sure why the valet Parker’s couldn’t do the walking?? When seated on this visit we waited several minutes for the waitress to take our beverages order. Not excessive but a little longer than expected. While waiting for her I had time to unfold my napkin - which was neatly folded but has noticeable stains in it. Surely it was clean but the stains were a bit offsetting. The good news is that Our food was all very good - tasty, hot and plentiful. When my coffee was gone and I waited for the waitress to offer a refill, I quietly wondered if I could get away with serving ourselves, but I deferred to my wife’s direction to wait. She was right as in another 5 minutes or so we were offered eventually refills. We love having a restaurant of this caliber nearby and fully expect management to resolve these trivial points that kept us from assigning the best available scores.
When we reserved our table at the Chateau Elan Versailles Restaurant we were not prepared for the massive amount of construction this venue is currently undergoing. The Versailles Restaurant is "temporarily" relocated to a dark, dingy, windowless room which the Chateau Elan calls their "ballroom". This depressing location was not the sort of place we envisioned celebrating our 40th wedding anniversary. We were beyond disappointed and the only reason our evening wasn't completely ruined can be attributed to the friendly waitstaff. If not for them, we would have immediately turned around and walked out in search of a more appropriate restaurant to celebrate our anniversary. As a matter of fact, I still become very upset each and every time I think about how we chose to go to the Versailles Room instead of Nikolai's Roof. The Chateau Elan should really shut down this "temporary" Versailles Restaurant until the renovations of the actual restaurant are completed. At the very least, warn unsuspecting patrons on their website what to expect when they arrive. I'd hate to see anyone else's special celebrations ruined by the horrible condition of this venue.
Terrible and overpriced food at the Sunday evening buffet, the only choice available, in a dark dining room with consignment store outdoor furniture. They are renovating the real restaurant. However, there is no excuse for the food that appeared left over from lunch. The wait person from Eritrea was very nice and friendly.
