Waypoint 622 Restaurant & Patio Bar
The restaurant was getting ready to close for the season and this wasn’t advertised so the outdoor amenities weren’t available. The service was rushed and not attentive. The food quality has decreased since previous visit 18 months earlier and some selections didn’t warrant the price point. Overall, the experience was disappointing and mediocre.
The food is always good, the service is terrific and we enjoy the ambiance.
Shout out to our waitress Nicole....she is Terrific!!!
We have been here a few times and always enjoyed it. Maybe they were just having an off night. Went Saturday night with 7:15 reservations. Sat down right on time and ordered right away. Got the shrimp cocktail right away. Took over an hour to get the salmon dishes and when they arrived we were underwhelmed. Small portions. Maybe we just were really anticipating it because we waited over an hour. Then they gave is the wrong check. An off night for Waypoint. Normally have a good experience
The four of us waited two hours for our meals. Unfortunately, once the food arrived, most of it was overcooked. The swordfish was like a hockey puck and the lobster was really dry. It was so loud in the restaurant that we could barely hear each other speak. Your best bet is to find another place to eat.
really nice venue with water views. very calming.
we always enjoy Waypoint 622, they had the room temp a little warm. conserving energy on a slow day is my guess
Really nice Shore location for dinner and drinks.
Enjoyable atmosphere and fun bar /water scene.
Accessible by car or boat. Valet service. Upscale place !!!
Pretty restaurant and that is about it. I have lived in the area for many years. Wanted to give this restaurant a try after reading mixed reviews. Server had an attitude for the moment we sat down. Took over 15 minutes for him to come back to get our drink order and another 10 to bring the drink. Flounder, which was a special was over cooked, and over sauced. My husband and I had the same thing and plates looked nothing alike. Another diner had Salmon which was also over sauced, so it was a sauce served with salmon. Two of the diners drinks never came out after requested when dinner was served. No one ever came and asked how our dinner was. Dinner runner did not know who which food was to be given for both appetizer and dinner. A restaurant that has the reputation of Waypoint should not be serving "OK who gets the flounder!" two dinners were cleared before the other two were finished eating another big NO, NO in my book!! It was the Sunday of Labor Day but we went early and not the restaurant was not over crowded or too busy. Would NEVER go back!!! Big disappointment!!!
We were seated on time with reservation. Dining room was very noisy & our table was next to coffee maker which infused our dinner with the smell of brewing coffee. Felt the indoor menu was more of a heavier winter theme than late a summer variety. I ordered flounder francaise from the special menu & had to request sauce bc it was served dry. Nobody at our table was impressed with their entré. All ok, but not special. Maybe the lighter fare on outside patio menu would have been better? Server must have been new. He was a bit slow & inattentive. Dinner was expensive and, overall, must say we will not be returning. Sorry - it was disappointing.
Great place but too noisy.
Very nice way to end the day on the beach . The only problem is: the tables for the walk ins are only offered under the sun. I booked in advance on open table but even that did not help. Call to book and asked for the table under the shade . Also there are flies. Restaurant needs to get rid of them.
Loved the patio bar but our reservation was for inside only and no one really liked their entree unfortunately. We will give them another chance and try the patio menu next time.
The porkchop bistro style was delicious, the sauce had just the right amount of spice!
Store bought tri colored chips for lobster nachos.
Medium pork chop well done with zero seasoning.
Great food and service!!
Great ambiance, service and food. The service was too good but the busboys were constantly roaming the table to take empty plates or dishes back so we felt rushed and it was annoying. I am assuming they wanted to turn the table over quick. That is my only complaint and I would recommend Waypoint to a friend.
Waypoint is a fun place if you want beautiful views, cocktails, and appetizers. The food is fair. But note, if you make a reservation on Opentable, you are INSIDE, thus, really not the views you get if you're at the outside bar area.
Awesome place. Beautiful views. Our waitress Pam was a great!
We went for lunch to get an idea of the food, location & atmosphere for an event. Our server showed disdain when we asked for separate checks (there were only 5 of us) & even after we mentioned we are on our lunch hour, she showed no interest in expediting our order over the other 2 tables of elderly ladies leisurely lunching & gossiping (NOT having to go back to work). The food & atmosphere saved the day & we decided it was a perfect venue for the event but will make sure to request that Joanne is NOT one of the servers that day. She was nice but not very efficient.
The waitress was rude- (brought us a spoon for our oysters and told us all the utensils were dirty and this was the best she could do- this was in addition to other things- we asked her what was good and she said something along the lines of- I really can’t help you with that - you are just going to have to pick something
The food was lousy and very expensive (my sushi rolls were mostly balls of rice with a dot of fish, the tuna was chewy and fishy and the lobster was stuck to the shell and rubbery)
While I do enjoy the outdoor space I recommend having a drink there and nothing more
My husband and I dined at the indoor restaurant at Waypoint 622. It was a disappointing experience. The place itself is fine. The service was not great and the food was mediocre. We finally received bread and butter right before our appetizers came out. It was cold bread and hard butter. The bread and butter sat on the table for the entire meal through both appetizers and entrees. The calamari with marina sauce and crab lump tower which we had as appetizers were pretty good. The filet minion I had for my main course was very bland and just not great. My husband had a seafood dish w linguini and said it was not very good. Upon finishing our meals, our waitress asked if we would like dessert. We said no thank you and planned to just finish our wine. Our plates were never cleared off of our table and remained there as we finished our wine and paid the check. We will not be returning to the restaurant as there are so many better dining options. However, we did enjoy the patio bar after our dinner. Beautiful scenery on the water, very relaxed atmosphere, and excellent attentive staff who constantly came over to ask if we needed anything. I would give the patio bar 5 stars but the restaurant is a 2 at best.
Everything was outstanding except for the Garden State Lemonade- it was dreadful! Just watery blueberry juice. Our waitress very kindly replaced it with a glass of Cab.
What a disappointment. The old union landing was much better. The food was just ok. I got a broiled seafood type dish. The scallops were the only good thing on the plate. The bathrooms were outside the restaurant and were an absolute sweat box. The inside is just blah and uninviting. I would not go back.
Very enjoyable dining experience. The service was outstanding and everyone seems to work as a team. Ask for CJ!
Waypoint has the best of both worlds in the summer. Casual river side outdoor bar area that is super laid back and busy, as well as, a more upscale-casual indoor dining room. The food was 10/10. Easily top 3 crab cake of all time. The octopus kabob was an excellent starter as well. We had a infant with us and everyone was very accommodating.
Great service, good food
Food was excellent but pricy. Noise level high. In season.
Very good food,service was superb
The food was delicious, and the service was excellent.
When you make a reservation you should be able to get
an outside table.
Great place , had my daughters bridal shower here last year, will have baby shower here in Jan as well! Great food
Enjoyed food and atmosphere
Overall, I like Waypoint. It's better for sitting outside and having drinks and maybe a few appetizers. I sat inside this time, by the window, and wished I was outside the entire time. The food was OK, but I asked that my Tuna be "super rare" and it came in a bit over done. I always ask here at the Jersey shore because it seems like they like to overcook Tuna everywhere down here. Once again, I asked if they could make it super rare, they said yes, but it came in a bit too cooked for my liking. My dining partners had lobster and scallops in pasta, the lobster and scallops were awesome, the pasta, not so much. Overall a good experience.
The food is pretty good. We got there before noon and they was only 2 tables seated besides us. The food took forever to come out. They even forgot some of the dishes we orders. They waitress was really nice and made excuses for the the kitchen.
Unfortunately we did not have a great experience here. The staff forgot to put in our appetizer. When the appetizers finally came they were very good. Our entrees, however, must have been ready as well and were simply reheated to be served later. The filet mignon was dry and rubbery. The tuna was cold and the onion rings were soggy.
Great food. My wife had the salmon and I had the pork. Huge portions.
We have been customers of Waypoint for many years. Can't say we loved it this time as we have in the past. We only had lunch but even so it was just ok.
a private not is being sent to the management.
The bar scene is good.
Service and food outstanding. Crab cakes were delicious and basically all crab (as a a crab cake should be) fresh sautéed vegetables done perfectly. The homemade key lime pie was to die for. Would highly recommend.
