We were given a very friendly greeting as we entered and our server was quick to introduce himself. We had to ask him to repeat his name because his voice was soft and he was speaking rapidly. Once we got that adjusted, communication was good. I wanted a martini but the bar was out of vermouth. What bar on a busy Friday night is out of vermouth?!?! The server did recommend a house special drink which was good but just a little too sweet for me. We ordered hummus as an appetizer and they brought both naan and sliced cucumbers since I have to be gluten-free. We asked for suggestions for entrees and the server gladly offered recommendations. I ordered a beef dish (Chenjeh) which was pleasantly flavorful and the meat was tender. Our guest ordered a similar dish and he agreed that it was flavorful with tender meat. My husband orderd a chicken dish. When it arrived the chicken was somewhat bland and very dry. On the good side, the portions were large so we each took food home. We will try Zafron again, try new dishes, and hope that they have vermouth on the bar!

This very reliable restaurant consistently delivers quality food attractively presented. Our party included vegetarian, fish, and meat preferences and all were well satisfied. Service was a little off this evening with our waiter less attentive than has been our previous experiences but, in no way, would prevent us from returning.

It has been a couple of years since we last dined at Zafron, and I was very pleased to see that all of our favorites were still on the menu, and as best I can recall, at the same price, which is very unusual in this day and age. And it doesn’t appear they downsized the portions. Not sure how they’re holding the line and still being profitable, but it’s great to see. At the same time, if they need to raise prices a little to stay profitable, so they’re here for us, I wouldn’t object. Their prices are quite reasonable. Food was excellent, as always. The only change I noticed was in the past, as I remember, you got a small dollop of hummus for the table to go with the freshly baked (excellent!) pita wedges. Now, no complimentary hummus is included, so we purchased a generous bowl for $9.00. Couldn’t finish it, brought some home. Still worth it, but I’d rather pay a couple if bucks more per entree and get the old dollop of complimentary hummus, which was enough — the $9 bowl, while not that costly, is more than one or two people can enjoy — it’s a good four-way share.

Food was predictably excellent and reasonably priced. Server Joshua did an excellent job. Restaurant is a bit noisier than I like, but I was able to hear others at my table with a little extra effort.
