My husband and I planned to come here for a date night after seeing the Canadian Pacific Holiday Train down the street. There were a few families with young kids coming from that too, so it was noisy at first. We got a table next to an interior wall and it was warmer than next to the garage door window wall, but the floor and table was sloping noticeably in this old building! The rest of the decor was upscale trendy and there was a beautiful Xmas tree by the door. The private bathroom was nice and clean.
He got the stuffed pork chops which were hearty. I ordered the duck with blueberry reduction and it was really good paired with the potato tart and sauteed spinach, but be warned the blueberry makes your teeth and mouth look super scary! Depending on your humor it might not be a good choice for a date. The server seemed rushed and was hard to understand at first, but by the time I got tea and we finished up with a creme brulee she was friendly. It was a good way to spend the evening getting into the Xmas spirit!
Food was good and we had a good time. When setting up the reservation I through Open Table I put that we were celebrating a birthday. When asked for special instructions I asked that Tiramisu be brought out after our meals to help celebrate the birthday. We never received that or any acknowledgement of it. I am not sure if there was some miscommunication from Open Table to Zesti or if the hostess never relayed it to the waitress. Just wanted to throw it out there so they pay closer attention to when people add in special instructions. It would have been nice to surprise his with his favorite dessert for his birthday, but it never happened.
It was a slow Sunday evening but the food and service were excellent! The waitress had a good understanding of the wines by glass and could comment on each one to help us understand what we were looking at as we weren't familiar with some of the brands.
The atmosphere is nice however the temperature in the restaurant was cold. I had to keep my coat on most of the time.
My husband’s order was incorrect. The delivering waitress abruptly grabbed the plates From us. Then we had to wait extremely long for our diner as they forgot to put the corrected order in. They did mark 30% off then entire order.
As far as the food. The Chicken Fettuccine Carbonara was too loaded with raw garlic. Not good. Overall evening ruined.
Food was delicious! Décor was beautiful! A little pricey for me, but all in all was a great experience.
Aside from being incredibly loud, the food was great, service awesome and overall a beautiful experience.
Zesty’s has become our favorite restaurant in the Hartland area. The food is always excellent, the staff is friendly, and we always enjoy our time there. Highly recommend it.
The waitress was very attentive and friendly. The food was delicious. The restaurant itself was clean and the decor was fabulous.
Date night for my boyfriend and I. Food was phenomenal!!!!
Everything was great except they had no record of our reservation, Reservation #: 2109807543. Took probably 5 minutes before they would seat us as I couldn't pull up reservation on my phone yet I knew I had a reservation. It was a bit awkward and uncomfortable. We were celebrating my in-laws anniversary before seeing a show, wanted both happy hour specials and dinners. It did work out eventually, since we promised to leave before 7pm.
The menu is dependably diverse and delicious. I enjoy taking friends there for lunch, especially.
Zesti never disappoints! Wednesdays are half off a bottle of wine night so it's a win, win...delicious food and wine at a reasonable price! I honestly have to say that the beet salad and ravioli are my absolute favorite meal anywhere. I will keep coming back again and again.
Our server didn't approach our table for 15 minutes and then never took credit for her mistake.
We were seated and not greeted by the waitress for 15 mins. until we complained. She was apologetic and offered a glass of wine to me, which was appreciated. We ordered appetizer and had little or no calamari, 99 % onion strings. I ordered my salmon medium rare, and it came out deep fried and brown and hard, not pan seared. The waitress did not come back until my husband was done with his dinner and I was ready to leave. The waitress removed my salmon from the bill, I ate rice and green beans for dinner. Overall very disappointing.
We were celebrating our parents’ birthdays, tho they are deceased. We had a wonderful experience, with our waitress being top notch. The cream of mushroom soup was delicious as was the accompanying bread. My sister enjoyed a ceaser salad, while I had the Croque Monsieur. It was very cheesy, and good, though I expected something other than a panini. We finished with tiramisu and a hazelnut chocolate torte, both outstanding.
We frequent Zesti for dinner and were pleasantly surprised by the Sunday brunch menu! Great food and service!
Food would have been delicious had It been served hot
Unfortunately service was slow food came out lukewarm.
Friday night meal. Had reservation. Was seated exactly on time. Very pleasant and attentive waitress. Had 2 of the specials and both were excellent.
We enjoyed a great evening with excellent food. I was with my granddaughter before going to the Arrowhead Musical. There was activity and noise but it did not interfere with our conversation. I also inquired about a" Ladies Night Out" for Oconomowoc Woman's Club. It usually attacks 20 members. I was informed that the restaurant does not do separate checks. I was sorry to hear that as it is a requirement for us. I wonder why?
I have had several beautiful meals at this restaurant! I am G-free and they are so accommodating. Great service. I will be back!
Great atmosphere... just a little noisy but not too distracting. Food options were interesting but didn't excite me. I don't recall same from earlier visits - perhaps a new menu for fall?
The food was FABULOUS and the service wonderful. Every entree at our table of four was unique, fresh and so flavorful. It was a difficult decision to order as the selection was intriguing.
Upon walking in, the noise level was noticed and commented on...and it was still early. As the evening progressed, so did the noise level. I would not categorize it as "energetic" as the review offers. Conversation was difficult and the din was not conducive to enjoying the company at the table.
They were out of Spotted Cow - both draft and bottle, out of the wine we selected, but recommended a great substitute. When we asked for a second bottle of wine, they were out of the replacement. The substitutes were appreciated and very acceptable, but I found a low inventory early on a Friday evening a bit odd. I will return to try more of the items on the menu.
First visit, probably will return at some point but nothing that we found so desirable that we need to come back within 2-3 months. Initial impression was dulled since hostess said our table was not ready upon arrival, only took a couple minutes so resolved quickly. Table was directly below an AC vent so we played musical chairs until all parties felt comfortable. Salad arrived before appetizers which was a first for me. Overall quality and flavor was excellent with good portions as well (our reason to return). Parking was also difficult but that is common for the area.
Capanelli, Lamb shank, flat bread, guacamole, meatball appetizer were all very delicious and well prepared. Old fashions were great! The creme brulee could use a little work: it was runny and curdy underneath the crusted top. Environment was very nice! Sat in high top tables which was a little uncomfortable though. Prices were very reasonable.
Had the spaghetti bolognese-delicious. My husband had the lasagna - delicious. Now we have to go back so I can order the lasagna!
did not like the sound could not really talk to one another
Visited here every year on 9/30 for our anniversary. Food i always great, atmosphere is great and service usually is spot on. This year our server was very dry and not super friendly. Quick and attentive but just not personable. Had the nachos as a starter and the Blue crab ravioli and Braised short ribs for entrees. Excellent dishes. Price wasnt too bad. We will be back next year for 5th year anniversary.
This was our 2nd dining experience - first was very good. We purposely arrived early to have a drink at the bar - bartender was very nice but had no idea how to make a Manhattan. We are not afraid to spend money for drinks before a meal but felt the prices were excessive.
We were seated in the bar area as opposed to the dining room. I ordered the Chinese Orange Chicken which was delicious and my wife ordered the salmon special - the salmon was outstanding but since she does not care for sweet potatoes or garlic mashed, our waitress refused to substitute pasta - so my wife ate only the salmon and green beans.
We would return but would be very cautious next time.
Food was good, service was slow and it was super loud.
We just love it. Food is always outstanding.
I really liked the location when I first spotted it a few years ago. So I finally had an opportunity to be back in the neighborhood and have a meal there. Reservation may not have been needed, even for a Saturday night at 7:30pm ; we were seated right away, something some other reviewers complained about. Waitress was attentive, took our drink order, and told us the special of the day. Although there were fancy light fixtures all around the bar side of the restaurant, it was still fairly dark when it came to reading the menus, food and drink. Lighting looked much better in the larger dining section of the restaurant. Guests enjoyed their old fashioned and margarita; my cucumber cosmo was okay. No offering of appetizers. Wrong meals were brought to us at first, except for the special of the day but they were all whisked away to try again. When they came back, the salmon special was enjoyed as was the ravioli dish (a lot). My bowl of cappellini was okay but nothing great. We each ordered tiramisu and was really disappointed in it. There was absolutely no coffee or coffee liqueur flavor in it, it was just a mixture of mascarpone, ladyfingers, and chocolate sauce. And since I don't drink coffee, this flavor should have stood out. Our glasses of water were slow in being kept full, especially since we were never asked again about our drinks after the initial serving. No after dinner drinks were offered - not even coffee or iced tea. Definitely got the feeling they wanted us to leave. I don't even recall the waitress (Blair?) thanking us when paying the bill - never came back either. We were the last customers in the restaurant at 9:30pm, yet when we walked outside to leave, a few doors down was really rocking and rolling with music and people all around. Guess we knew where the party was and where we would have been wanted. Been there, done that, no real reason to go back to Zesti. Wrote this review more on the behalf of my guests, wasn't worth my time or experience.
While the food was delicious, the noise level was so high that the four of us were unable to have a pleasant conversation.
We had three of four entrees that were excellent. The confit with blueberry sauce was not good. The sauce was excessively sweet and the duck leg was dry. Our table had Bolognese, short rib and orange chicken that were all excellent.
Christine is an awesome and friendly server and the food here is top notch!
We each ordered a bowl of the pea soup to start. It was great! It is the regular soup on the menu. We shared the spaghetti with the owners recipe sauce. Enjoyed the spicy flavor. The service was very friendly and efficient. I've been at Zesti before and will absolutely go again soon!
Delicious food that takes the diner to interesting flavors - a welcome change of pace from standard steak and fried cod. The short ribs done with far east flavors and the cheese ravioli with a short rib and mushroom sauce were outstanding. We look forward to returning.
Great little quaint Italian casual dining restaurant - makes for a perfect quick meal or a full date-night dinner. I have never been disappointed in their food, it is always delicious, and the service is great.
Zesti is always a great choice. It is reasonably priced and the food and service are very good. I had the Basa fish special and my wife had the veggie pizza. Both our meals were very good and the hostess, waitress and bussers were efficient and friendly. I used to hear a common complaint that it is too noisy there, but I have not experienced that, at least not the last 2 times we have gone. The tables were full and the noise level was normal (and I am finicky about noise).
I have been there three other times in the past few years.
Food was just ok. GF bread was not good. Just overall it was a disappointment from years past.
The server was great.
Not happy with most of the food.
The calamari appetizer was mainly poorly done onion rings- not even warm and greasy. The bolognese was essentially a large bowl of pasta with very little sauce and you almost had to search to find the meat they glowingly featured on the menu.
