Used a buyagift online voucher for a set meal with drinks. Menu choice good and food was tasty. Fizz and house wines included were good too. Service was ok but a little haphazard
Went for Mother’s Day, deliberately mid afternoon after the anticipated lunch time rush, not enough staff for the full restaurant and food was not memorable, unfortunately.
Zizi’s has always been a great place to go for a romantic evening, only issue was there was no specific table prepared before we arrived & my special request was not followed unfortunately, overall still a lovely evening
This was a meal before we went to the theare. Last time we tried to get in it was packed so we ecided to book this time. Everything was good - food and service and we thought it was good value for money.
Will certainly return.
Prompt and courteous service. Food was excellent.
Lovely restaurant and relatively was to find if coming by bus. Very attentive waitress, nice prosecco and white wine. Would recommend the lamb which was very tasty
Zizzi is good value and lively with quick efficient service- like this Kingston branch.
Mother’ day
A get together with friends that had not been seen for a while. Able to have a sociable conversation. Service was good apart from a cup of coffee being Spilt over one of the diners (slipped off unbalanced tray). Good was very tasty especially the prawn starter and the shoulder of Lamb. Excellent value. Very comfortable venue
Ordered the pulled pork pizza which had the most amazing pork scratchings all over it, and chilli jam! So so good, and the tiramisu was also brilliant. Staff were lovely and helpful without being overbearing. Great atmosphere too.
Pleasant good value family meal
We ordered my sons meal before looking at the menu for us. My sons starter came out very quickly and was good. Our main course came out with no sign of my sons so I had to ask. Our food was lukewarm and we suspect had been sat for a while as one of the dishes was al forno which is notoriously roasting hot but not this day.
We ordered my sons icecream and after 10 minutes had to ask where it was. When it arrived there was no apology and it was served in a high dish which reminded us of a martini glass, not very suitable for a 2 year old!
Very disappointing and I would not go back
Restaurant was quiet but long wait for mains. Had ordered extra chicken on a pizza and what arrived did have us question just how much would normally be on the chicken pizza. Appeared other tables also had issues with the food. Normally had great meals at other Zizzi's so this was disappointing.
Food is better than Carluccios but service was poor. More concerned with getting their deliveroo deliveries out than making sure all their tables are being looked after. Had to ask to order, had to ask for napkins and cutlery. Didn't feel valued at all.
Great restaurant for an easy lunch. All the food is great. We used our Taste Card which was an added bonus.
Open table allowed us to book the restaurant but it is in fact closed for refurbishment. I don't know which system has failed but ultimately turned up to the restaurant but it was shut.
Friendly staff, service excellent and food well presented
First time here. Nice venue and attentive staff. Food was more generously sized than anticipated and was nicely presented. I thought it was slightly more expensive that other similar chains like Prezzo and Pizza Express. It seems to be quite packed together with tables with the staff often squeezing through tables to serve etc - so not the most intimate of surroundings, but nothing unexpected with such an establishment.
Service and venue were great, food came quickly.
Entrées (calamari & garlic bread w mozzarella & mushrooms) were very good though garlic bread portion way too big for one person.
Mains were not great. Salmon w broccoli was VERY underseasoned and too much oil, prawn linguini had just 3 prawns.
Finally, dessert was terrible. Ordered a lemon merengue sorbet, could not eat more than a couple spoonfuls as it was WAY too sweet. Was not offered a replacement so £5 straight to the bin.
Had a lovely lunch their excellent food and really nice friendly service
As Zizzi in Kingston is right opposite the Rose Theatre, you'd think there would be more "pre-theatre" meals offered. Food in this chain can be bland, so additions of chilli oil, spicy sausage, etc., are always needed.
Service was very good. As was the play.
Despite booking via OpenTable our group of 5 were turned away at the door by a rude waiter claiming online systems were receiving incorrect information about availability. We have had several bad experiences at Zizzi's Kingston and despite the manager giving us vouchers for free meals on past occasions the service never improves. We booked here as it was the only restaurant with availability for a short notice visit.
Some dishes were off the menu which does limit choice & possibly would have an impact on whether to recommend restaurant to others.
Food was lovely. Staff were very friendly and helpful. We had a great evening.
Food was horrible, service was poor and I would never go there again
Took my niece and nephews there whilst Christmas shopping and altough the restaurant was very busy, the staff were very friendly and the service was good.
This was my choice for a late lunch recently: Pizza 'Rustica': One half - king prawns, courgette, mozzarella, roquito chillies and crème fraîche. The other half – crab, baby plum tomatoes, parsley, capers and rocket.
Sounds great, doesn't it?
Virtually taste-free. Seriously. "Bland" just doesn't cover it.
I'd managed to miss both breakfast & lunch, so I scoffed it. The waiter was very nice - & to be fair, he didn't cook it. Although, maybe "cook" isn't quite right, either - "assembled" would be more accurate.
A waste of money and time. Wish I'd waited until I got home & made myself a Welsh rarebit.......................
Always pleased with Food & Service! Got meal quick and it was delicious ... Only think I'd add is ambiance could be worked on a long with learning how to apply promotional offers to bill
Booked a Friday evening table for two. Staff was very helpful and took really good care of us. We ordered one starter to share, a penne arabiata and a green salad. They arrived really fast, well presented and were really tasty. We finished with an espresso and a cappuccino which were not up to COSTA standards but then again they never are in a restaurant because the machine doesn't work full time.
The restaurant was very clean as were the restrooms. Prices were on the high end, we paid £45 which was slightly high for one starter, one glass of wine, two main dishes and two espressos. I would go again though because I liked the place and the friendly staff.
Clear differentiation between flavours. None of the "one sauce fits all" attitude you so often get. Furthermore, the presence of a proper pizza oven, in full view of diners, added not only to the ambience so often lacking but to the defining flavours associated with this style of cooking. The carpaccio beef on the pizza was meltingly gorgeous. If you get the chance to try this, take it. To the guys on the hotplate - well done. This was truly good stuff. It rounded off our experience at the close-by Rose Theatre, watching Friel's "Translations". As they say in Ireland, " Maith sibh! Go n-éirí an t-ádh libh."
Very good of its kind, which is classical Italian chain. You get what you expect: nothing outstanding, but very acceptable. My ravioli with spinach in a strong tomato sauce with pine kernels was pleasant and tasty.
Zizzi's really is a unique Italian experience due to the normal physical boundaries you'd expect between kitchen, restaurant and staff being absent. Here's why: 1) The food choices and wine list are clear, served with a smile - either by a waitress or by the chef who cooked your food. 2) The staff use the same toilets as the customers. 3) Rubbish is carried out through the restaurant past diners. I'll leave you to decide if these decidely non-British traits are a good thing or not, but let's not detract from the fact that the food is really rather good (the Diabolo pizza is rewardingly spicy) and well priced. A top place for a group of people to have a tidy meal.
We were a group of 4 adults and 2 children dining on a Saturday evening. Unfortunately the food quality was poor. We had to send back a mixed grill starter as the vegetables were carbonised, the Super Zucca salad was all lettuce leaves with little squash or lentils and they admitted having problems with their pizza dough so it was no surprise the pizzas were poor. On a positive note the service was good and all complaints were dealt with quickly and graciously. Hopefully the kitchen will be sorted out soon as this is normally a reliable chain.
There is a basic rule which should never be forgotten by any restaurant: seat the customer, give a menu, and take an order for drinks! This cardinal rule was not followed, so we waited 30 minutes before being asked to order drinks, which came 10 minutes later. So, 40 minutes to wait for drinks was a poor way to try to satisfy this diner! I thought seriously of just getting up and leaving because no-one seemed concerned. It was only when I clued a passing waitress that I managed to place my order! I't's not the customer's concern if the restaurant is busy, or if there's a staff shortage. This is for the restaurant to deal with. All the customer wants is prompt and friendly service, a good experience, and value for money!
The food was dreadful - bland, greasy, small, badly presented. The fish course looked like someone had randomly slapped it on the plate with no care. The sharing platter was tiny. The mushroom balls were greasy. Service was terrible - very slow and sloppy - we had to ask for everything (even side plates for the starters) and it took ages to come. I tried to tell the waitress I had not enjoyed my food and she talked over me and walked away. We ordered a large calamari - the waitress brought a small one, slapped it on the table and said they had run out so that's all there was - not asking if we wanted anything else instead. The toilets were filthy. We felt ripped off and will never go to a zizzi again.
Good central location in the market place for standard Italian chain fare - nothing exceptional, but perfectly acceptable meal for a business occasion or to meet friends.
good place and pleasant evening
Good sharing tapas for 2 enabled us to complete a business lunch with reasonable speed, having found the service somewhat too slow on a previous occasion. Will try again, but still with caution.
I like Zizzi. I like the staff [efficient, friendly, often fun]. I like the food [well prepared, fresh, flavourful]. I even like the make-overs [sometimes lurid wallpaper & very odd decor].
But, it's a chain, so I shouldn't be surprised that there are people who look at the bottom line & work out how to make even bigger profits: mozzarella starter - good quality, half the portion size than previously. A pasta dish with chicken - al dente, with real flavours - but you'll squint for the chicken. It's a shame. So, 2013 will be the year where I go looking for venues other than chains.
Can we start a movement to see more "caffs" on TT?
I went to zizzi's in Kingston to have dinner with a friend. I chose it as, with it being a chain, I knew what to expect: good food at a reasonable price - and it delivered.
