From the friendly greeting by the hosts, to our incredible server Alex (probably one of the best servers we’ve ever had) and the fantastic conversation with Sous Chef Stephen - it was a night for the books! We started with the Lumpia that we wrapped in the lettuce as Alex explained and encouraged us to do - SO TASTY. For the entrees, my husband ordered the Massaman Scallops, and I chose the Tom Yum Seabass - both had flavors that were absolutely AMAZING. Our drinks were also SO delicious - the Sunda Old Fashioned and the Strawberry Fields - and let me tell you, they did not skimp on flavor or ingredients! We asked to be surprised for dessert - the “Rediculous” is what came to our table! The layers and flavors were exquisite! And the house-made caramel sauce that covered the outside was divine! This was not a fast “get your food and get out” meal, and in my mind that’s aeons more enjoyable than feeling rushed. Food like this is not just for nourishment - it’s an experience, a time to slow down, savor the flavors and cultivate relationships with those around you - old and new alike. As a foodie and culinary student I can say without a doubt that this is one of the best meals I’ve ever had. Because it’s not just about the food, it’s also about the group of people that come together to make that food! Sunda should be on everyone’s list while in Nashville! Thank you Alex for your attentiveness and exuberance- it’s obvious that you enjoy your job and the food you recommend and serve. Thank you Chef Stephen for taking the time to talk with us and share your experience as a fellow culinarian - it was very encouraging for me!
