Nighthawk takes its name from the Edward Hopper painting, not as nostalgia but as a reflection of atmosphere, people gathered, light stretching into evening, and the feeling of stepping just outside the ordinary. Set entirely outdoors in Coronado, it embraces the Pacific breeze, shifting light, and horizon in a way that echoes the rhythm of the Greek islands, where life unfolds in open air and time moves more slowly.     This was our second visit to By the Sea, on our first visit I decided this was my new favorite restaurant in San Diego, I thought the ambiance, the service and the food were all excellent!! Our second visit was just as wonderful!! Hostess Emma is so charming and an absolute gem at that front desk! Food and service were perfect!!! Well done! Not an easy task in today’s market! Still my favorite new restaurant!!

    Great environment and food. The service is excellent, and the hosts are amazing. Gab, the bartender, makes killer drinks. I mistakenly forgot to include myself into the head count, which is quite embarassing. The staff went above and beyond to accommodate me mand my mistake. I love coming to Callie; they always make it feel like a special evening.
