I appreciated the wide variety of tapas dishes. It was obvious that some of the dishes were previously prepared and not made to order, which is fine, for example, prosciutto wrapped dates, but it would be nice for them not to be brought out immediately...at least give the illusion they are being prepared. All of the food was delicious, especially the Valenciana Paella and the Portobello Mushrooms. I also had a very delicious old fashioned.

My first time at Mateo will not be my last. I’m a huge fan of tapas style dining and Mateo set the bar high for others to follow. Funky, cheerful vibe. Helpful front-of-the-house hostess. Well trained and attentive wait staff. And someone in the kitchen knows what they are doing when it comes Spanish tapas and wines. I actually had to give the chefs a shout-out while there for their take on brussels sprouts with crispy, shredded duck and cherry gastrique. Their chorizo is imported from Spain as is the Serrano ham. They are the real deal. I also got one of the sweet potato hand pies with mascarpone as a take home. Delicious. Highly recommended. W

Excellent menu, attentive but not pushy staff. A rather small space but not crowded. Would definitely return!
