Pietramala is a little restaurant located in Northern Liberties celebrating plants, wood-fire cooking and seasonality. We offer a small, regularly changing menu based on the highest quality, organic ingredients grown or made with care in Pennsylvania and the Mid-Atlantic. Our Italian leaning, but globally inspired food is always presented simply with familiar flavors achieved in creative new ways. Often touched by fire, smoke or fermentation to unlock unique flavors, our dishes sometimes require days or even months of preparation. We pride ourselves on our open kitchen, where our wood-fired hearth takes center stage, and our commitment to friendly service and warm hospitality in an intimate, but lively atmosphere. Hello, we are Sansom Kabob House. A local Afghan restaurant bringing authentic Afghan cuisine from the core of Afghanistan. We originally opened on October 2nd, 2002. We were on 1526 Sansom St. for 14 years and then moved to 1300 South St. We create gourmet Afghan food that you can find in Afghanistan or here at our Philadelphia location. We have mouthwatering flavors starting from our bread to our kabobs. Our bread's recipe and technique have been passed down from the founder's great-great-grandfather, who owned an array of bakeries and managed many restaurants in Kabul. Passed through generations to our chef, who brought delicious meals to 15th and Sansom of Philadelphia. Then from 15th and Sansom to 1300 South St. We have delectable food that you fall in love with and will bring comfort to you, from our meat lovers to our vegans. We do reservations, groups, take-out, delivery, catering, waiter service, and maintain a great family environment.

    My friends and I have never, ever, had anything but fantastic meals and wonderful times here. Our recent lunch was no exception. And Luca, who served and entertained us, made a memorable and delicious meal unforgettable. Lunga vita, Gran Caffe!!

    Celebrating Eid here was the best choice! I ordered the kadu, qabili palaw, and firni for dessert. I’ve eaten my fair share of lamb and rice, but nothing compares to how delicious this meal was. Going from the warm, slightly sweet pumpkin to the flavorful and tender lamb (plus the carrots, raisins, and almonds were great touches of texture!), then ending with the cool and sweet milk was such a pleasant transition of food. I walked away happy and full, and what better result is there than that! I waited maybe 15 to 20 minutes for my food, but I’m not one to keep track of that stuff. There were two waitresses who allowed me the time and space to enjoy my meal with minimal interruption. I will certainly be back.
