Chef and owner Joel Gilbert decided after years of searching for the perfect location that he was going to begin his journey with his first brick and mortar restaurant on the most Northern Point of Forest Lake, in Lake Zurich Illinois. After years of working and running restaurant establishments and working with his company Butter & biscuit Co. at local farmers markets, Joel has established great friendships and partnerships with some of the best local farmers.     Have been going here since it opened. Food never disappoints. Service was wonderful. Cocktails were great. The owner actually came to our table with a taste test for the July 31 Bari, Italy dinner. The sample was so good, convincing enough that we plan to attend the function.

    Lago is a fine dining Italian steakhouse. We always find the staff friendly and attentive. The bar and wine list will satisfy just about everyone's taste. Our latest visit, we had the smoked filet mignon tartare for the appetizer. Absolutely delicious. The hangar steak with roasted chimichurri cabbage was perfection. A smoked s'mores bread pudding for dessert capped off the meal. One order was easily enough for 2. Service was top notch and the general manager and other supervisors are always circulating and making sure all aspects of your dining experience meet or exceed your expectations.

    Five stars, as always! Region continues to be one of our favorite restaurants in Barrington. The service was outstanding from start to finish, and the updated menu offers plenty of great new choices. Our table ordered the NY Strip, San Francisco Cioppino, Spicy Crab Bucatini, and the Filet Mignon Meatloaf. Every dish was perfectly prepared and full of flavor. We started with the Bang Bang Cauliflower, Clothesline Bacon, and Bacon Wrapped Dates, all of which were excellent. We finished with the Chocolate Mousse, Handmade Doughnuts, and Crème Brûlée, and every dessert was the perfect ending to a fantastic meal. Great food, attentive service, and a welcoming atmosphere made for a wonderful evening with family. We look forward to coming back again soon..

    Lunch was delicious. My husband had the linguini with clams and loved it! I had a Caesar salad that was excellent, including the mild white anchovies on top (optional). The server was friendly & attentive.
