In 1976 Michael Garman returned to Brighton and opened IL Bistroafter being inspired by the Italian and French culture and cuisineduring his travels to the Provence and the western coast of Italy.His goal was to open Brighton’s first Mediterranean steakhouse.For the first time, Brightonians were able to order fresh pasta,arancini, dry aged beef, tiramisu and negronis.50 years later and now owned by Michael's son Abe,IL Bistro still stands by the same principles, using local suppliersand produce, fresh and seasonal ingredients and the best available dryaged British beef. The restaurant is situated in an 18th centuryfisherman’s cottage which we find rather fitting after Michaelspent years in Portofino, Livorno and Saint-Tropez, Europe’smost famous fishing villages.Booking info:We ask for a £10 per person deposit which gets deducted from your final bill.One of our team will be in touch to take your deposit, bookings will only be confirmed once the deposit is paid

Beautifully arranged over three floors, Bohemia delivers a full lunch and dinner menu that includes both large main dishes as well as small tapas-style plates and sharing boards. We are proud to say that all of our dishes, sauces and recipes are freshly produced in-house by our team.There are many seated areas within Bohemia’s quirky interior, including The Library and The Snug. For the warmer months, guests may be seated at the front of the venue, where they can take in Brighton in the heart of The Lanes where tables and chairs sit on the historic cobbled streets.     My husband and I have been here a number of times, and yesterday we attended for our one year wedding anniversary. We really appreciated the enthusiasm of the staff at the door after they realised why we were there. The food was exceptional; neither of us had tried scallops before but the starter was sublime, and my husband could not stop complimenting the quality of the steak. We'll absolutely be back for future special occasions.

    We went to the Ivy in The Lanes for our 35th Wedding Anniversary and I have to say it was amazing. I had the Lobster Risotto which was outstanding and my husband had the T bone steak. Neither of us were disappointed. The staff were brilliant and very professional and attentive. It a really lovely experience that I would recommend.

    What an exceptionally lovely night! Abe was a fantastic host as was Tanika. the food, cocktails and wine were superb. My friend who was down visiting from the Cotswolds commented it was his best place in Brighton he'd been and that he'd like to go back when he's next down. Have already recommended to a number of friends!
