In 1976 Michael Garman returned to Brighton and opened IL Bistroafter being inspired by the Italian and French culture and cuisineduring his travels to the Provence and the western coast of Italy.His goal was to open Brighton’s first Mediterranean steakhouse.For the first time, Brightonians were able to order fresh pasta,arancini, dry aged beef, tiramisu and negronis.50 years later and now owned by Michael's son Abe,IL Bistro still stands by the same principles, using local suppliersand produce, fresh and seasonal ingredients and the best available dryaged British beef.     A lovely afternoon celebrating birthdays overlooking the Downs. The afternoon teas, both gluten free and vegetarian, were an excellent assortment of savoury and sweet delicacies with a great selection of teas to choose from. We can’t wait to do it again!

    We went to the Ivy in The Lanes for our 35th Wedding Anniversary and I have to say it was amazing. I had the Lobster Risotto which was outstanding and my husband had the T bone steak. Neither of us were disappointed. The staff were brilliant and very professional and attentive. It a really lovely experience that I would recommend.

    What an exceptionally lovely night! Abe was a fantastic host as was Tanika. the food, cocktails and wine were superb. My friend who was down visiting from the Cotswolds commented it was his best place in Brighton he'd been and that he'd like to go back when he's next down. Have already recommended to a number of friends!

    We went there to get away from the hot weather during the late May bank holiday in 2026. Lovely food and drinks, a bit of music in the garden which was fun too and generally good vibes. Will be going back. It had been far too long. Would recommend.
